Felt inspired a month ago to try and blend a few ouds with some mysore sandalwood and buddha wood and costus root and a bit of hyraceum. (just about 0.5 ml with everything together)
The result now smells very close to how violets smell when I go outside on a sunny day :okay::Roflmao: It is rather uncanny. It really does smell like a single origin violet oil and not a blend (but with added depth).
They blended perfectly, can't seem to find any rough edges. But still ...violets...
Definitely didn't expect that! Although it is actually pretty enjoyable (even though it is the least masculine scent I can imagine :Roflmao:). Should use it in a different blend as a single flower scent!

IO Pai Sia Kan

This oil reminds me...
that the “sniffing distance” varies from oil to oil.

I enjoy PSK at around 6 to 12 inches from the point of swipe. During drydown I can come in closer.

My typo, it Sultan Abu Zahi. Do you have an all time favorite Sri Lankan oil?
There are quite a few Sri Lanka oils that I haven’t tried. But the ones on the top shelf are Suriranka Senkoh, Ceylon Royale, Adhrijaya 2, Oud Royale Sri Lanka, Rajakiya, Sri Lanka Artisan.

I wish I tried Al-Syed Ceylon 1 & 2, Suriranka Naya, and Adhrijaya 1.

Honorable mention to Ruh Silan, reminds me of ORSL, but with Ruh Silan I was able to buy it with pocket change:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:
I do jest:Cautious:

SOTD Ceen - lovely Chinese oil, orange peel scent in the beginning, many hours later it has a beautiful different and sweetsscent, very comforting, don't really know how to describe it.

Hainan 05 by Ensar Oud is good too and maybe more complex but I prefer Ceen more from beginning to end. Hainan 05 has a lovely dry down but I'm not the biggest fan of the leathery slightly funky top notes, though some people might like that.

I actually mentioned Ruh Silan is so much like Oud Royale today to Al Hashimi [emoji23] ... it's a quite SL oil as compared to the likes of Senkoh, Wilapatu Raja, Peoples Ceylon etc

I really enjoy both Oud Royale n Ruh Silan but I think the best days are yet to come for these two...

how does sultan abu zahi compare to suriranka senkoh?

In my opinion there are more similarities than differences. They are both midgrade oils even though Zahi is usually priced higher. There was a low yield with Zahi I was told. I wore both erlier today. Zahi has a slightly wider scent profile while Suriranka has a bit more initial depth. They both we’re turpenic smelling at about 90 minutes and essentially gone in 2 hours. EO ORSL is just a half step below these in grade/ quality. I’ve only smelled one oil better than these 3 so far, AA Ceylon 1—made from very old wild agarwood.

Port Papua once again.....

Nice!
My brain is going tic toc tic toc.....hmmmm.....
should I get a bottlle??
......still undecided because I have several oils on my radar, but can’t pull the trigger on all of them.

I need to hear what people think of ASO Safaa:Whistling:
