......still undecided because I have several oils on my radar, but can’t pull the trigger on all of them.

Sandstorm today. Listening to some sad tunes for the night, got an old blend on I made 18 months ago.

It's comprised of two components. Vietnamese Oud and Malaysian Oud. Both soaked distillations.

The Viet soak resulted in an almost cherry-tobacco type note. The soaked Malay came out pretty chocolaty.

Blended together at near equal ratios yielded something pretty tasty. Chocolate cherry tobacco.

LMK Noir Velours transformed into my first Hindi Oud Rose Blend, but I placed a drop of Blue Lotus into the mix.

Well.....months later the blend is doing better than before. Rose and Lotus, blooming on pastoral soil.
A decent blend that’s enjoyable all the way to drydown.

I’ll call it “Noir Velours Transformed”🙂

Hung out with an Oud buddy yesterday and got my nose on quite a few gems from Imperial Oud.

The ones that really did it for me were the Hainan Imperial...wow!!! A bitter, crushed peanut opening that quickly goes to white florals, piercing sweet melon mint, light citrus, and crisp mountain breeze.

The Nha Trang...equally as incredible as the Hainan Imperial, but with a decidedly Cambodi twist to my nose

Hainan Vintage, which I totally get the bee pollen and Musk. If someone has ever spent time on a farm they would easily appreciate this one. Never gets dirty, but a slight barn.

SOTD: EO Royal Guallam. Outstanding Vietnamese Sinensis oil. Smooth and rich, bitter-sweet mild spice with medicinal hints. A slight tickle of the nostrils upon first whiff. Helping point me to kinamic land. No wondering where the oud is here! Lol.

Almost 6 hours later I was still able to detect the honeyed light spice of RG. One of the few oils I have that will go this distance. I also had a small swipe of EO Purple Kinam which bowed out at about hour 4--which is more than acceptable.

Oud is only lasting 4-6hrs on your skin?

It varies but in general higher grade/ quality oils last longer. Some of the mainly bunk wood oils are gone in about 45 minutes or less. I often apply a base of moringa oil about 15 minutes before applying oud oil to prevent the oud from just being an expensive moisturizer.. I apply 1 light swipe of oud oil usually.
