Kilatan left - unreal perfect dry down. Start to finish this is pound for pound hard to argue with as one of the all time best oils sub 200. It's unique, fizzy, colorful and has a dry down that could be its own top notes and I'd still be thrilled! Awesome light oudy smokiness - like clothing or hair right after a coal sesh.

Gyrinops 0 on right - the quentisential summer oil. Big bold resinous and green. Spice with this anise like sweetness. Muahhh. Amazing.

Confirmed - my personal 2 favorites of 2020 so far. The ones I seem to reach for day in day out over everything else, it's no contest. Both complex all natural perfumes - this is truly what it's all about in my eyes.

Ceylon Royale 1 - this is the incense heavy side of the Walla spectrum. Rich and heavy like half and half but not necessarily creamy (while it does have the obligitory Walla vanilla tone) but dense rich thick resins and wood. I also get the cream of coconut and hazelnut extract. Maybe a little suede. Some plantain. But it also then starts drying into dry hot oceanic fizz. Like when waves crash on a hot day - the smell of the white fizzy water on sand. Almost zero fruitiness to my nose - this is more of a "gourmand" but with resins and tropical spices. It's mellow still - doesn't jump off the applicator or the arm. Not much in the way of diffusiveness so for me it's a personal wear rather than a spray perfume alternative. But I love oils like that bc it's how I wear them anyway. More fire power is always welcome but I'm not sure how this aroma profile could manage that. Oils like Sri pada do bc their top notes are fruity and floral - but the only floral here would be a creamy tuberose or white florals.

The most directly similar Sri Lankan oil most would probably associate as being in the same class and aromatic profile is oud Royale walla version. Both of these share the same darker resin take on Walla patta - rather than the candy floss route someone mentioned quite accurately I must say the other day. Took the words right out of my mouth. I love both oils but I put on both side by side over the weekend and mentioned to a fellow ouddict I chat with regularly that oud Royale walla when compared next to Ceylon Royale 1 has a "wet" note - something verrrrry slightly fermented smelling about it. It's generally what I associate with a middle eastern oud aesthetic preference. It's more middle and base heavy too - with less vanilla and more dark incense. They both dry down though to about the same thing. I find most Sri Lankan oils do. Has anyone tried both? Also curious what folks think about Ceylon Royale 2? Was it more expensive? Different in any considerable way?
