[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

Sri Lankan oud might be the most approachable oud because of its invigorating green banana-like sweet, woodsy profile. Likewise, OudBase's Sri Lankan oud oil Suvanda Forest has that profile in the backbone.
But as you know sometimes distiller do their magic and come up with totally different results. Suvanda Forest is that case. the enhanced, refined Sri Lankan oud oil that filled with life.

Do you remember the smell of the forest in the summer? that wafting smell of slightly moist air carrying all kinds of different woods, fruit, and flowers which makes you feel so enriched and cleansed? that smells is distilled in this little bottle. this oil is filled with life, I could almost say it's alive.

Smelling from the bottle, it gives off fresh, watery camphor and sweet floral, green banana note. you might think it doesn't sound so special with this description but it has this invigorating, bright, vivid, life-full scent that hard to put into words. it just diffuses fragrance like a soda and softly tingles your nose. it makes you feel so calming and energizing at the same time.

On the skin, Suvanda Forest opens up with those notes and slowly transitioned into that typical Sri Lankan oud scent profile. it's that sublime top note that makes this oil special.

Suvanda Forest lasts about 6 hours with a small dap and the projection is excellent, you don't have to get your nose close to the wrist. though you might just keep smelling your wrist all day.

Papua A. from oudbase
I have made note of other companies “ thin “ oils. Well this is a very thin oil with a water like viscosity but WOW does it pack a punch!
Loud is the word that comes to mind and What A beautiful Oil! This hits the spot.
vanillic creamy spice on another level
1 wiff of this oil and I was onboard! 1 look at its price And I had to go all in!

I’ve seen these very mobile oud oils. Always had me wondering what was up... I think I have several “Sumatran” ouds with this very light oil quality.

In my mind I’ve always just assumed they were diluted perhaps with mineral oil. I don’t know about your specimen but all of my really “watery” ones I treat as suspect.

I am not suspicious Of purity, maybe light top fraction oils. Might just be grade of wood or technical tweaks during collection

If I were to have any suspicions of dilutions,
they would take place predistillation,
right in the pot.

But as Jay suspects,
I lean towards fractions and tweaks,
and these are more prevalent
in modern oils.

After immersing myself in woods,
oils which smell like the heated chip
are most appealing to me,
but the galaxies of profiles brought about
by modern distillation techniques
certainly have a place for many
oud enthusiasts.

For today....
Swiped EO Satori Fusho

Menthol cigarette on top of a jammy Thai,
with a darkness lurking at the edges.

Hot today so after a midday cooling shower I’m
Rolling around in silani bliss after a fat swipe from Oudbase’s silani oud oil! WOW
Makes my head buzz and my soul ring out!!
Clean and piercing
Wish I had jumped on a Tola of this when it was to be had :-(

AA Miri Royal earlier today—long lasting, powerful, Borneo happy juice.

AA Royal Maluku is tonight’s evening swipe. I am wearing this oil on one arm and @RisingPhoenix Thai Blue Lotus Attar on the other arm. This could very well be the tip top of olfactory experience IMHO. Wave after wave of SUPER high quality scents on each arm. If I were a wealthy man, I would enjoy this scent cloud for the rest of my days and never tire of it.

Malek ceeni - dabbed a small dot for bed - gosh dang gentlemen. What a spirit ❣️ this one has - the most vivid creamy yellow kinam vibes. Warm hay, florals, creamy copper tones, bahhhhh. Hard to describe it. So clean. Absolutely zero barn. Totally Chinese but skips that whole pettigrain citrus twang - no Chinese medicine/herbs or ginseng type feel. Babying my sample. Eventually I'll go down to using a needle point to dab lol. Or get a windfall and buy me a little!
