Not sure if the right forum or better to post it to ask the community forum. Those old wood pieces emits at room temperature nice floral aroma, at the burning there is lot of smoke and relatively no oil content, afterwards when the smoke scent part leaves away stay somehow floral aroma simillar to that one in room temperature, approx 30 minutes afterwards i can smell from my skin and clothing soft typical oudy aroma. Seems like maybe those will be better to incoporate to sticks with other materials than burn it by itself.
What can be those? Are there evaporation of oils from the wood over long period of time and bad storage process?

From my experience at woodworking (for my hobbies) , there’s lots of woods has a nice smell, mainly exotic woods.
I have at least 10types of exotic woods and all of them have a unique nice aroma ,for example :
Indian Rosewood
Pau fero (Iron wood) have a beautiful vanilla like.
Vera wood have a very strong flowery smell and runny oil
Cocobolo wood as well and list is long.
But it’s not necessarily that these types of wood will burn nice !
I did a lot of experimenting by powdering all the wood types that I have, and I’ve found some good results and some bad ones.
You need to do some experimenting to see how the powder will burn, because some wood will burn nicely on slow heat but very smoky when powdered .

This one of my favourite :
Sinking Wild Assam Oud , smells amazing at room temperature and that’s why I built this plexiglass box for it.
That's a beauty!
