Sasong by Imperial Oud: Laotian: Longevity is mervellous, and fragrance is beautifully mysterious! For me, above words is its perpetually increasing mesmerism. I wish to bathe in the the stream of Sasong, running through the aged dark and deep jungle, that turning to be a lake twisting through the hard rock mountains, and in the end winding through the desert in spring, and, finally, silently into an ocean. YES. I FELT ALL THREE PHASES IN A SINGLE SWIPE that proved to be OCEANIC.
"Woods are lovely dark n deep" and "A thing of beauty is a joy forever"!
Sasong is incarnation of Frost-ian and Keats-ian poetic imagination.

Wish IO excel and excel!

Wore IO’s Sri Pada, and touched the zenith of Sri Pada- Sacred Footprints! The way Sri Pada is considered sacred and the summit of bliss and beauty in Sri Lanka, this Sri Pada Oud made me realize ‘Nirvanic Bliss’! I never decode the tones and nuances of any Oud Oil in term of chocolate, vanilla, leather, etc but by the impression on the shores of consciousness. If I were to name this oil, I would have named it ‘Siddhartha’. Sober! Deep! Seemingly other-like, but intrinsically distinctive. The word ‘nirvana’ turned into a concrete reality. This is my opening encounter with this oil, and what would be the epilogue … hmm… of course, SERENITY and just SERENITY!

Salute to IO team over this distillation. Brother Faheem, thanks and thanks for your ‘Sri Pada’, and my ‘Siddhartha’😉!

Tokusen Tai (AA)

I had not tried any Thai prior to Tokusen Tai and so did not have much of an expectation other than hearsay about Thai being linear, sweet and jammy.

But Tokusen Tai was far from linear. A swipe and a sniff later, there was this unusual peppery spice note jolting my olfactory senses, sending a slight tingling sensation at the back of the nostril. In my Oud journey so far, I have yet to encounter such top notes in any oil; except during Kodo session with resinous wood at higher temperature. It was not all dry and spice though, as there was a nice touch of sweetness with a tinge of mint to complement the peppery edges. Don't think the spice note ever disappear but rather retreated to the back as other more prominent notes took to the stage. I still could catch whiffs of it from time to time.

The scent slowly transited to a medicinal woody smell, again with a dash of sweetness to it. Interestingly, so far I have not yet encountered any jammy sweetness that was expected to overwhelm your senses; but rather the sweet note here lent a subtle yet supportive cast to the main notes at different stages. Just like how the sweetness toned down the spice in the opening, I thought the heart note sweetness bridged the medicinal and woody notes very well, as each note in its full essence can be quite olfactory stimulating, at least for me. Sometimes it is not just about packing all the most complex notes in an oil, but rather how each note interplays harmoniously with one another to bring the olfactory experience to the next level.

The woody note continued to intensify till you could almost imagine smelling the actual wood in front of you. Slowly, you could start to catch a hint of bittersweetness creeping in from the edge. Bittersweetness is my all time favourite note and I definitely love the aroma at this stage, though it could be better if the note has been more intense and forefront rather than playing second fiddle.

The dry down is a rich incensey note that personally to me, has been a hallmark of high quality oil. It is very different from the aggressive and smoldering resinous dry down of Jinko Manaka as it is gentler with a greater degree of clarity.

Personally I feel that Tokusen Tai is a masterpiece. Distilling a oil with complexity is tough enough but it is definitely a bar higher to distill a complex oil with such harmonious notes playing in tandem with one another.

Just a first impression of HOM Borneo Bliss.

Aptly named, a blissful 🙄 oil where Ketenangan meets Kecantikan. Piercing, ethereal, and now I have to shower and sleep. More to come when I have more time with the sample, or when I get a full bottle😕

Have any of you guys tried Ensar Oud Cambodi Cacao or Cambodi Black?I have a friend who lives a few states over who I'm thinking about swapping a few oils with...

Did this remind you of FO super kl or AA Berkilau? This oil for its smell is one of the best deals in recent times!

No a vendor House of Misk also a member here @hasans1412
Thanks a lot, respected Habz786. I'm happy my thinking was on the track and it was really House of Misk. Otherwise, when the first time I came across this abbreviation, I took it as the name of an oud oil. And I took it- HOM- as 'OM', the most sacred mantra, and had decided my pronunciation 'OM' was incorrect, and 'HOM' is the correct one.🙂
AA for Agar Aura.
FO for Feel Oud

Am I correct?

And 'IMO' 😕? Please post; otherwise, my poor guess-work would get activated😉.

I have not tried Super KL🙁
I have Berkilau, but BBliss didn't remind me of it in the least, reason being AA Ketenangan popped into my mind during first whiff, then AA Kecantikan during the second whiff, and yes, it is a bargain for the quality.
Taha's legacy is that he taught many distillers some new generation techniques, now they use his intellectual property for free😕 But we all know Taha pioneered it. Strictly my opinion, not fact!:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:

House of Misk unreleased Bruneian oil, initial speedy impression:

Wet earth, super woody, rooty with hint of sweetness. All wrapped up with the slightest "bugsy" animalic aroma as described by @Mandeel AlMandeel long time ago and famous for the fermented Brunei Microcarpa wood but here is very suave, polite and well blended giving an incensy bandaid aura in the basenote/drydown covering reminisce of Borneo elements when you sniff closely.

Nothing ground breaking here regarding performance, no piercing aromas nor dynamism. Nonetheless excellent oil for the price as usual from HOM and somehow unique oil among the current oud offerings in the market.

A package arrived, what gravitated me the most is "Aira Sandal"! Organic Burmese Funk Master's opening spell is nice, what would be the end note. ....yet pending. Velvety Keyn Organic is velvety. I put aside my intrinsic love for rough tough and dynamic pull sort of oil and wore Velvety Keyn. Din Dan Wild has got potential.
I was aspired to wear every organic from FO to study the differences in different distillations. Therefore, I got all organics. Soon I will share my findings.

Sandal Aira deserves a big big round of applause. Soon I will wear it, and share how it unveils itself. Yet its first impression I have had after opening its cap is quite strong. But Mysore has blanketed my whole being till now. Impartiality would make me see and smell better.
