Interesting how BN allowing so many immature treats like: panty droppers, Fragrance that remind you of "the dirty old man" colognes for nailing girls, tons of Aventus garbage etc…..

But “discovered some member's wives were directing people to their husband's websites and vice versa.†Caused for the oud forum to be shouted down.
Shut it down if you have too but what good reason could there be to completely wipe the files clean? Just like the kid who crys and takes his toys home, it all seems very petty and childish.

Is there any chance we could put together a petition to reopen the BN Oud Forum or at least to release access to the library of posts. Any ideas or suggestions?

i am totally for it, a lot of people invest their time over the years and the oud forum has priceless information about oud that cannot be found anywhere i am new to oud first time even heard the word oud was around a year ago, and now thanks to the oud forum i know about oud so much that with out the help of the BN oud forum will take a lifetime to learn it. very disappoint it from the owner of BN we shout at least have read only access to the forum.

I think they know this and (according to the mods) plan to reopen it. I think the petition would be more on the lines of "hurry up" since they have already stated their intent to reopen the forum. Now, if they are not being honest and in fact don't intend to reopen the forum, that is another thing entirely, and it would make a sense to pressure them not to bury all that work. I tried PMing grant but did not get a reply.

well now is over a month, what would be a good time if not open to do the petition? 2,3,6 months. my opinion is if the forum did not open in 3months will never open again.

So do you know what those other undisclosed reasons were?

A review...

If you want an oil that is truly out of this world, try the Borneo Caramel 2005 from Rising Phoenix. It is one of the sexiest scents I’ve experienced. I had the same reaction to it as when I first experienced Amouage Tribute. It doesn’t smell the same, but it “feels†the same. It leaps from the bottle and attaches itself to my skin and then projects outward. It dances around my head and sings, “You want to be enveloped in my scent all the time!â€. And I do!

This Borneo is powerful and it’s beautiful. It has the powdery aspects of ambergris and sandalwood, bursting narcotic floral and tobacco, clean musk, vanilla (but creamy vanilla instead of spicy).

Ah… this oil is exquisite, and the dry down is lingering and mellow.

Mr.P, PEARL,

From what I have heard from BN moderators is that the forum will return, when and in what format, Grant will decide.

Older BN members have mentioned that the oudh forum on BN has been closed a few times, that being the case there is value in trying to grow ouddict. I also wonder if there is a way to bring some of the useful information across from BN.

found interesting and easy test to find out if oud oil is not pure, if anybody who can understand the language can confirm that the pure oil was the one on the right?

It can't be that simple (this is checking of the oil floats vs. sinks, right?)

This would only let you know if an oud had been diluted with a carrier oil that is more

dense than water.

I heard of this test and tried it before. The pure oil mixes with the water(not float) while the altered oil beads up.I tried it with acouple drops of Imperial Oud Rangapara and a few drops of some Arabian Oud Saufi that I purchased of ebay.Rangapara mixed with water as soon as it touched.Arabian Oud Saufi beaded up on every drop

So you think this would work? What if the oud is diluted or mixed with another essential oil (that would also disperse/float on the surface)?

I'm not sure at all,a while back I had a distiller tell me this and I tried it with 2 oils I have.1 of I knew was pure and the other I was sure wasn't.

I'd like to hear the input of some of the distillers because all of the pictures I see of oils being collected' date=' the oil is floating on top. I've always known oil and water to not mix, how else would it be separated?[/quote']
Well I'm pretty sure if I was to drop enough pure oud oil it will rise to the top,I only put 2 drops, actually wanted to use 1 drop but as it fell in I didn't see what became of it so I did it again.once pure oil hit the water you wont see it but that's only a drop.if you were to use a lot more I think it will float.but I think the video is showing that altered oil beads up instead of mixing/floating

Of course... Just spreading out to form a thin skin on the surface. I have distilled some oils (not oud) and they disperse over the surface without literally mixing in. They form a very very thin layer until enough builds up form a layer with some depth.

That's why i thought that the pure oil was

The one in the right the one that did not

Mixed with the water

A pure Oud oil will 'mix' with water and form a cloudy solution. If left long enough then the Oud will collect at the top and can be siphoned off. The video is showing a mixture of Oud and a heavy oil (on the right) and is therefore dropping to the bottom of the jar. On the left the Oud is filming over the top.

I don't mean to be stubborn, but this seems like it is an important point. an oud diluted with any oil less dense than water will form a cloudy mixture and then float on top. In no way can the fact that a liquid is forming a suspension (temporary cloudy mixture) or floating to form a thin skin of oil on the surface of water be a sign of purity.

I kind of figured that but what about the oil beading up,is that a sign of impurity? If so this test still can be somewhat helpful.

I guess it could detect one specific form of adulteration? I wonder what kinds of carrier oils would do this?
