brother I'm not sure, maybe more experienced members can confirm this, but I think this piece is an artificial oud (Sinaai). hopefully I'm wrong.Alright guys check these out. The last pic does look suspect but can't judge without info or context. As for the others maybe but old wood can get that blackbrother I'm not sure, maybe more experienced members can confirm this, but I think this piece is an artificial oud (Sinaai). hopefully I'm wrong.
I have nothing to compare it against unfortunately. I've just messaged the seller for some extra details. I've heated a small slice of it and I'm getting definite oudiness but with this soil smokiness if that makes sense? What is Sinaai? The last pic does look suspect but can't judge without info or context. As for the others maybe but old wood can get that black
It's wood soaked in resin, it's a real product just not a high grade oneI have nothing to compare it against unfortunately. I've just messaged the seller for some extra details. Wet a napkin or cloth with ethanol and wipe the wood with itI do have some. What should I do with it?
Is this what they used to call "black magic" wood? I'd be a little bit afraid to burn it unless i knew what was in itIt's wood soaked in resin, it's a real product just not a high grade one

Yes, just look at my SQ Hindi wood. It is very old wood, harvested from a very old tree and is mostly resin even when I cut into it. I got 4grams of it. Here are some pics againThe last pic does look suspect but can't judge without info or context. As for the others maybe but old wood can get that black
Sinai is a type of fake wood. I really hope that isn't the case with this Borneo man... @RisingPhoenix can you help us out? How can we detect if it is truly Sinai?I have nothing to compare it against unfortunately. I've just messaged the seller for some extra details. I think they mean all 🙁Which of my pictures were you thinking looked like this? Was it of the Papuan or the Borneo?
It was mostly the borneo I was talking about, those long smooth shapesWhich of my pictures were you thinking looked like this? Was it of the Papuan or the Borneo?
The Borneo looks natural to me brother. The pic you posted is black all the way. The Borneo that brother Dan posted has natural whiter parts, and isnt all black, and also isnt the same amount of blackness all the way through like your pic. It is more like my SQ Hindi wood, which is 100% authentic, you look at the 2nd piece of my SQ Hindi you will see what I mean. @Olfactory Nomad you should still wipe it with high % ethanol (just a tiny bit of ethanol on a wipe) and wipe it just to see.It was mostly the borneo I was talking about, those long smooth shapes
Can't really tell from the one photo, don't even know scale. But they're probably closer to these export pieces than the sanai I posted earlier:The Borneo looks natural to me brother. Mmm, not quite the same. It actually looks more like this - IMO Low quality photo so cant see the exact same colours, but I bet if this was a real high quality photo they would look very similar, in colour. Also, smooth wood isn't always an indicator of fake wood at all, Faizal gave me a beautiful Merauke 3.64g piece (gifted) that was smooth like a stone. Harvested in the 90s for SQ and was a live harvest Filaria, not soil. Can't really tell from the one photo, don't even know scale. Alright so I've wiped a couple of pieces with ethanol and resin is now definitely on the tissue paper however the wood itself is still very much the same colour as before the ethanol. I've also snapped a small section off and the inside is also heavily resinous and dark. No filler or white wood. Can't really tell from the one photo, don't even know scale. Oh they're a lot smaller than they looked at first that's a good sign.Alright so I've wiped a couple of pieces with ethanol and resin is now definitely on the tissue paper however the wood itself is still very much the same colour as before the ethanol.
