There is definitely a dark smear on the napkin but I wouldn't say it's paint. It smells like resin? The wood looks exactly how it did before I wiped it.Bro u should check the napkin you wiped,if there is any paint or not
Indonesians are said to have mastered the art of faking real agarwood unfortunately. Beyond the usual tricks of painting and gluing, they take the resin of lower grade agarwood and inject in into bunk wood as one of their techniques. But, some of them may be honest and call this kind of wood "naturally organic" or something along the lines. There is definitely a dark smear on the napkin but I wouldn't say it's paint. I bought this wood in a store and am not convinced that it's fake. This store also sold many types of Oud as well as incense and sandalwood products. I'm happy with my purchase.stick to artisanal dealers please 😴 tired of seeing people fall for these fake oud sellers
I'm glad my man! And I also can't say it's fake, especially if the smell isn't off in any way. Hopefully you got em cheap if they do end up being lower quality, but like you said everyone in this space will get scammed at least once at least if they're looking for value. All part of the game and nothing to be scared of imoI bought this wood in a store and am not convinced that it's fake. I agree. It's been a learning curve today and I appreciate your input and knowledge. Can you elaborate on your comment about the smear on the napkin?Reading the past few posts has pretty much illustrated why we are so strict about what is privately sold by members on the marketplace.

Alright guys check these out. Some recent purchases in Bali. First is two pieces of Maroki Paupua. I'm just using my phone camera so sorry about the quality.
Next is a single piece of Mid Sumatra.
Then I got two pieces of Nth Kalimantan. This stuff has very dense resin inside it and is hard as a rock. Think I'll need a wood file for this.
When I first saw these I wanted to respond, for me it is like muscle memory, I go through kilos of wood every week. When you have to test that much wood, you have to have built a visual clues database for fakes as well. And lastly is something incredibly special. I can't believe I came across this. These small sticks were sold to me as Borneo kynam(agarwood) I've never seen anything like it. Very dense yet light. Heavily resin. No room temp scent but the tiniest scrape that I have heated so far on 60 degrees smells intensely sweet and produces vapour within seconds.
To be honest I was feeling a bit positive then, but coming back I do have to add that the smear of resin you got on your hands and napkin is pretty much a guarantee of human intervention. Together with some of the visual cues I don't think they're natural, I more meant to say we can't ultimately guarantee they are or aren't a particular thing, especially just from pictures.I'm glad my man! I am not going to add on what others have already said, but I do want to get some positives out of this and maybe some lessons learnt.
Bali is the worst place in the whole of Indonesia to get Oudh. The majority of it is fake, engineered, enhanced etc hopefully all can take that as a guide.
Secondly because it is a tourist places, they know they can catch people.
@Mr.P yes those hard dark pieces are magic wood. Or ghost woo
Thanks guys, I won't lose any sleep over it.🙏To be honest I was feeling a bit positive then, but coming back I do have to add that the smear of resin you got on your hands and napkin is pretty much a guarantee of human intervention. Still don't be afraid to buy fake wood, if you can't return it keep it as examples for the future you won't make the (exact) same mistake again 😁
Beautiful pictures. May I ask what you use to take such pictures. I have pieces that look really amazing that Kos took but I tried it with my phone (S22) and it doesn't look anywhere nice as his pics he took of it or your pics. Weird. What do you guys use?Shoyeido Kyara from brother barry

Do you know what region this is from? Great PicImphal Agarwood from India
oh man, this thing is gorgeous..
I've been heating more wood lately on low heat and I've smelled the good, the bad and the ugly : )
this is for sure the good. I'm getting a lychee note that is mouthwatering, sweet floral note like gardenia and a green note resembling khus. I know why it is one of the sought after agarwood in my region.
I was burning high grade kyara before this. this is not inferior to kyara by any means, very enjoyable wood in a different way.
