That Dwipa Gold is a gem. It might be my favorite of his, and that’s based on a sample.
-Pause-
Actually I just went to smell the remainder that I had saved in its vial and somehow there was enough to apply a small amount. It has such an old wood smell at the same time as a bright, fresh uplift and just a hint of the citrus notes in frankincense right before the powderiness comes in. Anise cookies and almond.

[Ouddict.com] Sandalwood oil of the day

Two Ceylon sandalwoods with very different aromas.
The one on the left is soft, a little floral, and relatively weaker compared to all the sandalwoods I own. I use it as a base for oil based attars and so far it performs very well, doesn’t impart too much to the overall perfume.
On the right it’s a lot stronger, tangy and resinous with a green creamy overlay, it’s the most powerful sandalwood I own and it’s really really good on its own, it can even overpower rose Otto. I’ll order a few grams of musk and I’ll try to macerate both musk and ambergris using both and see which fits with which.

That one doesn't seem to be available anymore. Bugger. I'm looking for a nice sandalwood to throw some gold ambergris into.

On a sandalwood run atm. Mysore Qadeem 1980 - An Najwa. Very light lemon zest top note but it's gone almost immediately to be followed by a deep butter. I've put some on the collar of the shirt i'm going to wear today and I fully expect I'll be getting delicious nosefulls of it all day.

My sandalwood oil of the day happens to be the Mysore I bought from @mesOUD recently. I applied a swipe yesterday evening after a longish break from all sandalwood oil to allow my sensitivity to reset. It's now 8 o'clock in the morning on the next day and I'm still surrounded by a beautiful sandalwood aroma. It's interacting with some other fragrances that I was developing to produce some really wonderful woody accords that I'm excited to try to make into a different fragrance.

Sandalwood is such an amazing material… its impact on everything else is profound - it seems like even the slightest trace or residue on skin can completely alter the balance of perfumes it is layered with.

Is it still for sale? I checked on the website and it’s not there

this was from when he was reselling oils, which is no longer part of the Mesoud plan. @An Najwa has a very nice one at a comparable price point to this. I highly recommend it as a contemporary Mysore. It's one that I plan to buy more of in the future if it's still available - has a bit of a nutty opening, very clean and no off notes i can detect, a cut above the other contemporary non-artisan oils that have passed my way.

After taking a week-long break I have been allowing myself the luxury of wearing some sandalwood oil. Today it's this lovely oil from @An Najwa - clean, a bit nutty, and a nice rich sandalwood aroma. I have to remember to apply swipe of this in the evening and see how it holds up to the overnight test but it smells like it's loaded with santalol. Very happy to have it!

Speaking of Sandalwood oil, I gave the @An Najwa basic Mysore oil the overnight test. i applied a swipe last evening, and I was surrounded by the smell of sandalwood throughout the night and I am continuing to enjoy it fully this morning. This is where the lighter plantation oils fail in my experience… also vacuum distilled oils. Good stuff.
