On the way from India to the US

This is supposed to be the authentic deg method jasmine and rose - can't wait to sniff this stuff!

Just got a 40 slot storage box. Also just had delivered : Blue Bakhoor Oud Oil, Oud oil Turad Hatab, Thai Bakhoori Oud oil, Treasures of the Old Forest Oud oil.

very excited!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Blue Bakhoor Oud Oil compared to the Turad Borai, and perhaps even compared to the Thai Bakhoori when you get the chance. I have the first two but not the third!

Also congrats on snapping up the Treasures of the Old Forest oil, inshAllah it'll be a wonderful addition to your collection!

As mentioned in the review section the Blue Bkhoori was snapped up from a vendor in the eastern Province. Whereas the Torad Borai was from a vendor in Madinah.

The blue Bakhoori was thick, dark, silky, smooth, luxurious, spicy level: none, smokey, mud or dirt notes, and had notes of dark chocolate. No unpleasant or noxious scents. Longevity: short-medium. Similar to Old Cambodian but actually sourced from Eastern Thailand.

the Torad Borai was different, it was thick, dark brown color, Spice level: medium-high, pungent, woody, sharp, and sweet. Longevity: medium. Its from Turad tree in Thailand.

i will leave my review for the Thai Bakhoori in the “review” when I get the chance. Just tried Torad Hatab which I will also leave in review section.

I procured Treasures of the Old Forrest purely based on your recommendation. I guess you can say I’m leaving the best for last? We will see 🙂

Thanks! Oh my gosh their instagram is so full of roses (and jasmine; and vetiver) it’s insane. Can’t wait to hear your feedback. And they distill kadam/kadamba which is one of the Indian florals I’ve always wanted to try!
The package is on the slow boat it seems, no idea when it will show up at my doorstep. 🙂

I finally ordered musk grains from sibermusk, sooo excited! Do you have recommendations on how to process them best? Shall I just macerate them in Mysore? Or is tincturing better? What would you do?

I also ordered some absolutes from Etsy: Osmanthus, Champaca, beeswax oil, Tahiti Gardenia and Tonka absolute.

Still looking for a good vanilla compound though, that smells rich, balsamic, powdery, nothing too creamy - you have a suggestion?

Also - does anyone know a good online shop for essential oils/absolutes/sandalwood in India? I'm in India regularly and my very generous mom in law is asking what she shall send for my birthday, so I was thinking of telling her to order some oils - but don't know any good supplier. She lives in Delhi, but can order from anywhere.

Smell good!

I wanted to get Dreams of African Sandalwood too but I was a bit put off by the description saying it needed the right humidity and weather to be good. And also the lack of reviews here. I’ve never actually experienced a high-end sandalwood incense where the main note is sandalwood itself.

I do have Dreams of African sandalwood and think it's lovely. I agree though the description is a little odd. Hmm..now I'm thinking about it, I did notice last night that the stick I burnt of it was a little different from the others I have burnt at home. Home is very warm and humid. Where I am currently in NZ it's very cool and fresh. Either way I don't think you'd be disappointed in them.
