I do have Dreams of African sandalwood and think it's lovely. I agree though the description is a little odd. Hmm..now I'm thinking about it, I did notice last night that the stick I burnt of it was a little different from the others I have burnt at home. Home is very warm and humid. Where I am currently in NZ it's very cool and fresh. Either way I don't think you'd be disappointed in them.
On this recommendation I also picked up Dreams of African Sandalwood and threw in LIJIALI Processed Mysore Sandalwood incense as well for a comparison. Got it in time to combine the orders!

Broadlink samples on the way - trying just their kinam extractions and no idea what to expect other than I expect the CO2 oils will be very mild... the prices are very reasonable and though I know there is no great love for CK around here, these might be good materials for attars as an alternative to other less appealing or stronger scented carriers. I'm grateful to those members here who take risks and share their experiences with some of these different types of vendors - I don't remember who steered me to Broadlink, but thank you for that. If any of the oils are outstanding I will share that here. I have 3 kinam oils coming - 2 CO2 and one distilled. I am hoping that once I work out the kinks in my blending skills and (I hope) work out some really satisfying balances with the cultivated oils, I can begin to look at reformulating some blends with the good primo oud from our small scale providers for a higher tier of perfume. That is a bridge I have not gotten to yet.

I also am working on getting a bigger bottle of @Margon 's patchouli oil... this oil, freshly distilled though it is and all, for whatever reason, triggered my urge to collect it (in spite of my having more old patch than I know what to do with).

These samples are "outbound" (not inbound) and will be handed over (not sent by mail) to a perfume enthusiast (and ouddict!) who is going to be visiting the market in New Lebanon, New York where I sell my perfumes. Happy to be sharing these, and it is always a treat to be connecting with a fellow enthusiast, of course!

Yesterday I received a very generous package from my friend @Mr.P
Both unique pieces from his treasure built up over the years and his own designs.
My health does not allow me to fully appreciate them at the moment, but with a quick sniff Ambrosia has completely captured my attention, a totally unique and extremely balanced composition.
I think we should convince Marco to start selling online and share these gems with us.

A set of samples shared with me by @LibraryOfPerfumes yesterday!

An overwhelming assortment of mostly natural perfumes - this includes works of Teone Reinthal, Yusa, Ensar, Dixit and Zach, Hunayn, TSVGA, and Jasmine Sarai.

In spite of dedicating myself to making perfume, I'm a collector of the raw materials, not perfumes themselves, so this set has significant educational value to me.

I'm not sure where to start… (I mean after smelling the @YusaAromatics 🙂 )

At the moment I'm most curious about the Teone Reinthal because she works without synthetics and also without any animal ingredients. I don't have any issue with animal ingredients or synthetics (and have made little dabblings for fragrances of my own), but at the moment I am also trying to see what I can make using the same restricted palette that she is (I like the challenge and as a bonus this makes the most sense for the place where I sell my perfume), so of course I'm interested to see what other people come up with when they constrain themselves in the same way.

Speaking of working under constraints, while it does limit your range of expression I have found it greatly frees up the potential to create. This is something I experienced as a student and teacher of art… Sometimes it is extremely liberating to have options taken OFF the table.

Teone's my perfume hero. She does AMAZING work 😍
i think Embers and Arjuna are both very tasteful and well balanced! Arjuna immediately made me think of ruh juhi - this is a bright jasmine fantasy tuberose type scent to my nose; the Embers is an interesting mellow sandalwoody scent with an a unusual musky(?) facet that is very pleasant to sniff! It is fun trying to dissect these and imagine what went into them, but I would like to know what the notes and ingredients are in these according to the perfumer herself I will have to see if I can find info on her website... not sure if these are still in production. I smell familiar notes and I smell unfamiliar notes which has me wanting to know more. 🙂

Parfumo and Fragrantica have notes on most of her perfumes. Basenotes has reviews and chatter about them. Embers was a big hit before my time but I've acquired a small amount.

I did a little digging at the TRNP website to see if I could find her comments on them, but no luck. I appreciate the reminder about Fragrantica and Profumo 🙂

Embers (2015) was a big hit among TRNP fans. From what I understand, it includes Calabrian Bergamot, Rose Damascena, 25year old Government-certified Mysore Sandalwood, more recently distilled certified Sandalwood, and TRNP signature amber base.

Arjuna wasn’t much talked about (per my knowledge) and includes Neroli, Orange jessamine, Green tea, and Mysore sandalwood. It’s a bit unusual for a neroli perfume yet beautiful.

What I like about Teone is how seamlessly blended all her perfumes are. I almost love 80% of the perfumes she has released and I cannnot say that about any other natural perfumer. I absolutely adore her creation for their transformative, meditative, moving quality. Exquisite in my opinion. If I had to rank the TRNP perfumes I gave you, these two are probably in lower ranks. That tells you how much more magic is in store for you 🙂

Natural Borneo Camphor - Ryuno from Japan Incense

Chinese Weeping Cypress - Cupressus funebri. - Vietnam from Mermade Magickal Arts described: fresh-ground aromatic powder with lovely notes of precious wood and Camphor. When burned, it emits a sensuous, soft, old-wood aroma with beautiful notes of camphor. The scent is very soothing and grounding. It clears, calms, and quiets the mind.

Frankincense Honey from Scentient Art and Matt Tilley.

What I think is rather odd about TEONE, is that a request for a few recommendations got me blocked on instagram.
