wearing Nihon ni mori and the ghaliya 2023 for the first time and providing some initial impression:

Nihon ni mori I was a bit concerned would remind me of the path by trnp. which is quite nice but its really heavy on the woody qualities and its a bit too bracing for me. It opens kind of similarly as I was really strongly hit with hinoki and oud combination, but after about 30 seconds it becomes clear what this is all about. its a very top note dominant perfume, two hours in, the yuzu, top notes of warm and sweet agarwood and the hint of florals from the cherry blossom and rose are definitely the star of the show. I believe the medicinal herbs play a part as this reminds me a tad of the fenugreek based Japanese incense I have. I wouldn't necessarily categorize this as a woody perfume, smelling blind. I think this makes me go a bit nose blind generally as a lot of top notes will do that to me, its much more delicate than I expected and it leans more like a woody incense to me with floral and medicinal qualities. there is something sweetening it like honeycomb, and I associate that smell with high quality oud personally. this is really unique and I love the sweetness it has, not a woody perfume as I said and I love it all the more for that personally. its a really unique composition, not an everyday wear for me but extremely pleasant.

Ghaliya 2023, not sure what I was expecting here but I was surprised by how well composed and western it ends up being to my nose. it definitely took the best of his prior floral ghaliyas and adds some complex ouds and animalics to add depth and keep the florals present. if you're looking for an oud bomb, this is not it. However if you want a lush, velvety melange of textured florals with a warm animalic base of smooth and alluring oud with high quality ambergris adding depth this is 10/10. very beginner friendly ghaliya experience that smells extremely expensive and addictive.

I was hoping for something more oud heavy in both cases, but I'm sure those will come in due time. both of these are really fine and nuanced compositions that I will have to sit with more to understand fully. Still Apres Les Soir is the best thing I have smelled this year and possibly in my top 5 of all time, so I think that biases my view of these, I just cannot get over how insanely good that one is. Really looking forward to trying taifi classique, and the other two ballads- will post my impressions when I do.

Areej le Dore Oud Luwak Atttar. This is one of my favourite fragrances of Areej le dore. It's on the same level of power, intensity and addiction than his brother, Russian Oud. Dark, smoky, bitter, and green at the same time, Oud Luwak is a combination of Maroke Noir Oud oil, indian Oud, and coffe, much coffe.
It opens up with Luwak Coffe and smoky nuances, as a result of sinking sumatra agarwood infusion. As it starts to drydown, the nutmeg and benzoin appear and sweeten the coffe. Incredible attar.

Henry Jacques "monsieur bouquet" that was gifted from my good brother @Tauhid Shaikh and 4inches away a big swipe of EO "oud ertugrul"......i sniff from one to the other and it is just out of this world! on the other hand got some SQ bulgarian and also taif that I also received from Tauhid....crazy day for the nose!
My heart blooms to see you enjoy these. It makes me so happy to see someone who can appreciate these like the way I do.

I go crazy when I smell these and many more amazing aromatics.

Oud Ertugrul is the prettiest Oud from house of EO and you got me hooked to it 😅🤭

Wearing my creation

Saffron Tincture 40ml/1g
13ml Oud SE Asia blend, strong Viet profile
8ml Musk/sandalwood
6ml Sandalwood India
3ml Sandalwood Tonga
3ml Jasmine
2ml blue lotus
Ambergris
25ml ethyl to make 70% alcohol by volume or close.

A bit too much saffron but the rank darkness of the oud and hints of something else balance out. Definitely dark clothing wear, saffron stains.

Sounds pretty amazing. How’d you make the saffron tincture? And what is blue lotus exactly? I’ve been thinking about trying to make something of my own.

Thanks, I soaked 1gram of Afghani saffron in 40ml of food-grade ethanol for months. Was my first time trying, apparently I made my tincture (2.5x) a bit concentrated. Blue Lotus is a plant, common to SE Asia and very fragrant with a distinctive aroma.

Titto by Yaaseen. Literally just swiped it on and the item is unavailable on etsy so I'm here, sniffing blindy (also in work (in an office), so trying to be a bit discreet about smelling the back of my hand 😂)
A musky affair to my nose, while also fairly sweet. Not in a fruity way, I'm not sure which note(s) is contributing to this. Could be some civet in here given it a floral twinge

man, this stuff is awesome. I went to a gig straight from work last night and heavily applied this before going - could notice it 7hrs after getting home. A very animalic trail followed me all night, projecting well with my increased body heat from the gig.

I only have a sample, which is probably enough for my usage, really. I'd buy a bottle, but I very rarely reach for attars. I'm always wearing an oud or 2 in work (as well as a spray fragrance) but I feel that oud is stand-alone enough to wear with a spray, whereas an attar may clash / be too much in combination with the spray

ballad no 1 elixir attar:

this is a beast. the musk is super strong and present through the opening and mid phase. it’s very much traditional french or old school 80s musk perfume but with really top notch ingredients and some unique distinctions. it’s definitely green and bracing and musky- the lavender i can get but i wouldn’t have immediately guessed it as it’s just a bracing overall herbaciousness sitting on top of green woody qualities. it’s really three dimensional and punches you in the face with projection at the opening, but settles down to a more enjoyable but still loud level. i almost wonder if there’s cumin in there? very complex but also good delineation of certain accords. traditional masculine musk perfume to the max.. this would be kind of like if prin and rogue made a baby of the highest ingredients. it has certain qualities of both id say somehow it’s not completely a western perfume but it really has that quality of “this will put hair on your chest” masculine western musk along with the cuminy mild funk (it’s really not very funky for being super animalic, well behaved as someone else said).. it’s a really different direction for elixir i would say and really successful. this could be someone’s signature scent if they had a huge wallet and the highest testosterone level of all time. very nice, very intense.

Sounds like it was bespoke for me except for the wallet part. 😛

Peyan Bertrand jasmine Egypt extra

This is truly nice stuff. Very elegant and multilayered top notes, with just enough indole to add a skanky element. This one fills the room with an unusually delightful live flower aroma as it fades on a blotter.

If any of you are interested in truly top shelf jasmine, you can contact the owner and order some. It is not yet listed on the web site.
