Ajmal AAA Musk Gazelle purchased from Zahra's back when that was a thing.

Note that this is the AAA not the legendary beast mode AA. It was also purchased a fair length of time after the other one became famous.

It's much sweeter than the AA - a very sweet "black musk" and slightly floral faint wintergreen(?) violet spicy accord in the opening, and the muskiness becomes more pronounced over time until it's actually quite musky by the time it settles down. Definitely brings the old AA gazelle to mind but is more restrained and balanced. The accord after the initial notes have evaporated is appealing though too sweet and complex for my tastes. I have no idea to what degree actual musk is part of this attar but it smells like it contains a fair amount, also maybe castoreum, along with the sweet resinous materials. I don't know whether Ajmal would use substitutes like l-muscone in perfume like this... the smell is complex enough to confuse my nose so I'm not sure what I'm smelling
Whatever happened to Zahra's? Funnily enough I still have a little of the super potent AA, probably one of my earliest purchases way back when I started.

Testing out my own blend today. I've decide to name it 'Dar-ul-Khuld' meaning the Garden of Immortality (5th level of Jannah). This blend contains Dehnal oud hindi qadeem, Tibetan deer musk and ambergris. Absolute power

Edit: It also contains Frozen rose from Kannauj India. Seriously amps up the sweetness. My favourite blend I've made to date. View attachment 42057
Where did you get the tibetan deer musk from?

It was insane haha. What’s your take on the contents of it?

I’m trying to find my bottle again.

Think I have the guys number saved somewhere.

I don't know every time I smell it I'm kind of baffled. It seems to have a really high percentage of naturals or possibly be all natural. I feel like I smell castoreum, high-quality birchy birch tar, I get a really strong musk aroma for sure, stick to your fingers and spread all over kind of musk smell but it doesn't smell like cheap synthetic white musk or anything like that. I suck at deciphering the ingredients of heavy base oriented traditional attars by the way.

I don't have it in front of me but I recall thinking like there was maybe one aroma molecule in there or natural isolate… Something akin to wintergreen, some kind of salicylate

I got a chance to smell @YusaAromatics Ikebana today.

I'm posting about it now and to be honest I smelled so many things today that I'm slightly forgetting what the top of it was like - i remember liking it and thinking it was quite animalic from the opening along with the floral facets. But quite a while later i was having a soak in the tub and I got a really striking whiff of something. I could not immediately figure out what it was it was a sophisticated half masculine half feminine narcotic complex classic perfume accord. Triggering of a memory from when I was quite young living in Brooklyn… my friend's mother was a jewelry maker and very glamorous and always smelled of good perfume. She wore something that dried down like this. I would love to know how to make that accord just for the knowledge... I get patchouli, I think I'm sensing musk down in there, and some other sweet narcotic thing that modifies the middle register of the patchouli oil into this fascinating aroma. Interesting and somehow strongly evocative of experiences from my youth. Thanks yusa and @LibraryOfPerfumes

That one has patchouli, saffron, melange of ouds from Imperial Oud, hints of tobacco, rose, jasmine, and lavender and tuberose. To be honest with you, this one hasn't grown on me like Akogare or Qamar but I am being patient with it. I think I am having trouble with tuberose. But I am glad you got a chance to take a trip down the memory lane.

Did anyone of you try SHAMS from Yusa?

I just got back from studying the notes at yusaoud.com hoping to find a clue as to what I'm smelling.

The thing that is capturing my curiosity is the late dry down... some skillful modification of patchouly as I see it. In a way it IS patchouly, but surrounded by just the right things. Based on the website it sounds like some saffron, musk oud and patchouli would be the place to start.

Yes, I think it's the best of three. The oud in this smells really smooth to me. Still testing all three to form proper opinions as my perception isn't 100% fully formed yet.
I am partituclarly interested in the musk in that fragrance. Haven’t tried kashmiri musk yet. How do you think the musk comes out in that parfum?

Just on this rose thing, the best of Bulgarian rose oil does not compare to any of the rose oils made in Taif by the 5 families. The reason for that is simple and it is two; 1. the rose valley region in Bulgaria has a annual rainfall close to 800mm this is a significant amount of moisture, the rose are over watered and as a result develop and more powdery profile. 2. The method of distillation is aggressive and extracts many other elements from the plant. You can see Bulgarian rose oil freeze at times at 15c where as the Taifi will freeze at around 4 C.

The ideal rainfall for damascene rose is about 250mm annually. Taif has annual rainfall of about 240mm and the perfect temperature and sunshine.

Having said that, people can have preferences, but that should not be confused with quality.

Bushido - @RisingPhoenix

My go-to when I need aromatic courage and a steadying of the mind.

Just got done with testing and interviewing with my boss for a promotion. I don't have any answers or feedback yet, but I know exuded the confidence and competency for the role.
Well, I out performed the competition and was offered the position.

Gotta hand it to @RisingPhoenix for bottling the confidence of a samurai.

Kambodi- Kymya

This is really nice. Has a classic perfume vibe to it, but it doesn't smell common. Skillfully composed, and the quality of ingredients is clear. It smells both simple and complex, sweet but not cloying. It's kept my nose glued to my wrist since I sprayed it.

This is something you wear on a first date, a fragrance to impress. It doesn't smell out of place on my skin, I'd definitely consider it unisex, but I may have to gift this to my wife because it would be irresistible on a woman.
