I tuned into an additional residual note now that some time has passed that I missed at first. Sometimes I’m very sensitive to this note, and sometimes not so much. If we are talking about the same thing, it almost smells like the tail end of a composed fragrance - some kind of familiar dry cedar- woody-amber note, i have picked up to different degrees in a handful of ouds from different regions: India, E. Borneo, N. Borneo. Definitely distinct from the typical balsamic-“oudy” dry down and a very pleasant scent.
I had to smell cedar tar and oil and some amber oil to understand the note your mentioning, "dry cedar- woody-amber" is a good way to describe it.

Tabeer Oud - Jalukie - I knew I wanted a Nagaland as soon as I woke up this morning, and Jalukie never disappoints. Noticed a sort of hot spiciness in the heart today, wasn't detectable until about 30 mins after wearing and has vanished now as well. Found it uplifting after a shower in the way balm-y ouds often are, not as citrus-y as other ouds in this style. Actually I sense the pepperiness in the dry down a bit now too,

Yusa Aromatics - Murasaki - "Holy cow" is what popped into my head after the initial sniff! It's some really good stuff, calming florals in a bed of sticky honey, drying down to a really incredible incense note.

Rising Phoenix Perfumery - Nakhon Si Thammarat - now this is a blue oud! Feels as oceanic as an oud possibly can in my eyes. I feel like I'm resting on a beach in peninsular Thailand, looking out towards the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, hearing waves crashing in the background. There's a buzzing of activity in the scent, it's like you've tinctured the ocean in a Thai Crassna (which this isn't), and the usual tart sweetness has been washed away, leaving oceanic notes in its place.

Marauke Qaboos - The Attar Store @Hamza H

This is my first and only Qaboos oil I have. The oil is not as thick as I expected from the old vintage oil, but the sniff from the bottle itself is so resinous. This one took quite some time to arrive because Hamza himself said that this oil was precarious in supply at the moment I ordered, so he needed to get one from the Middle East. On the skin, the resinous of the oil keeps growing, but not as dense or that heavy, with a lingering feel of some menthol coolness (maybe sweet). The oil does not project that much as I need to put my nose near the swiping area at the back of my hand to smell it deeply. This might be from the freezing weather here in South Korea, and I hope it will project more during the warm weather. The resinousness in this oil is really good and is what I would expect from a vintage oil. I hope it is thicker than it is now, as this one is the least thick oil I have in my collection.

Edit: After a while (1~2hrs), the menthol comes forward while the resinous moves to the back but does not disappear. This is really good!

Meleka Oud Malaysian premium from @mesOUD Abi

Should I say oud from yesterday because I can still detect it even after 25 hours !!! This is probably the strongest oud oil in terms of longevity and projection I have encountered.
It projected the whole day be it in the gym, during work or even in the mesjid during Friday prayer.
I should mention that yesterday I took 1 shower after the gym and several abolition’s for my prayers but I could still/and can still smell it this morning.

It starts fresh and green with a little bit of Vetiver note combined with citrusy notes. After a while it gets sweeter. Imagine being in a Jungle and the sunlight shines trough the leaves and somehow there is also a pine tree somewhere and you drink your ice cold Limonade. It gives you this almost cooling, tangy feeling like aldehydes( if you know them ) can do. It is hard to belive that this is just an oud oil because it feels alive and projects like there are some aldehydes in it.
Really beautiful experience trough out the whole day that highly recommend. I was very positively shocked

Sounds very strong, could it have rubbed on the clothes?

There was an old box in the corner with mostly incense and a few oils I opened. Incredible smell out of the box, and most of it is is the Horin line from Shoyeido. So today's wearing is an older oil: Yasuke from LMK. It's very dark and a somewhat bitter malaysian. I don't smell incense notes in this one. I added some siberian grains a while back, and when they show, they smell like raw cocoa beans. All in all very nice

Today I am sampling a dab of “Min Al Sin”, Hainan, 2020 from Sulaym. I only have about one drop of this in a sample vial, so it is hard to comment on color / viscosity and impressions are based on a light swipe:
Looks like a paler oil, perhaps with sandalwood like viscosity. Aroma is classic sinensis type - a “toothy pungent” opening that I have smelled in sinesis co2 and distillate from grandawood, the old oriscent “royal” kinam, in a recent very thick CK distillate from Wardlab, and also a “Ceen” from ASO. Each of these oils presents in a different way, and are quite distinctive in their own ways, but clearly they share genetics. I am surprised at the degree of overlap between sinensis oils and some CK oils (but CK is sinensis so why am I surprised). Some CK oils have the toothy note, some don’t. I assume different kinam subtypes but who knows? Maybe one “color” (white, green, black, purple) has the toothy notes while another gives smooth minty openings?

This type of opening is very appealing when it is in balance (as in this case), but can be kind of cloyingly pungent in some if undiluted (the grandawood extracts). In this case, it is well balanced with the sweet and almost floral aspects of the scent. That floral aspect gives me a “cool violet” impression, not sure where the “cool” comes from, but the brain insists. Perhaps it is a barely liminal minty-ness? Can’t quite pin that down. This sinensis opening is probably familiar to most but to my mind it always brings carrot seed oil and nagarmotha to mind. This oil seems to have a balance of top and base fractions - it has a clear top note, but is not top-note dominant, and the toothy opening is sitting in a nice low lying heart and base.

The heart note has that toothy sinensis opening continuing, very nicely balanced, almost effervescent. I feel this is an excellent example of that particular chemotype of oud.

Asiki Boven 2022 - RPP. A fantastic clean new gen Papuan. Dark, yet pristine clean terpenic green notes. Floral, earthy, minty, medicinal but a touch smoky with that pitch black oud resin note we all love in Filaria. As it drys down a more creamy, white, delicate powdery woody note begins to emerge.

I swiped some on my father yesterday while I visited him for lunch & while he was taken aback at first, I noticed him going back in for multiple sniffs finally declaring he enjoyed it.
Papuan Oud whether it’s Filaria or Gyrinops is one of my very favourite regions. Mossy, fern covered rainforests are a favourite place for me to visit & PNG oils take me right there!

Today i revisited this absolute GEM of an oil! I removed the tape I have it sealed with and unscrewed the cap and took a big whiff of the fumes that 4 grams had concentrated in the little space the vial has left in it for some months that I hadn’t opened it and mmmmmm the concentration of what is to come from a fat swipe smelling like a sweet thick vanilla Borneo flower garden with the smell of room temperature entry grade kyara logs falling from the sky and faint kyara heaters gently heating some kinam!!!

So I dipped in that clean glass swipe rod and added a fatty on my hand and spread it out to 1/3 of the back of my palm
🥰
😍
🤩
🔥

It is the oil that has the most kyara aspects gathered that I have not seen in any other oil and I say this having gathered around 40 types of different kyara chunks close to 30grams of wild and mostly famous named kyara pieces ranging from .1-2g chunks from collectors and auctions in Japan in the last 4years collecting.

The flowery sweetness, spicy and bitterness of this oil is a PICTURE PERFECT representation of many of my kynam pieces at room temperature and even slightly on low heat however the oil shows it’s Borneo diesel/pine very faintly in a powdery way the note added to the top notes, but I can see through it and focus clearly on that which I see when I smell many of my kinams from the vials and when i heat some of them. I will not even bother rant about what else I smell as it transforms or the insanely gorgeous unique drydown.

For me this oil alone makes Ensar a legend and now I realize how many people feel as strongly as I do about this oil with other different oils he has released.

I tried many oricents as well so I have a very clear idea of the oils of Ensar Oud.

Shocked everytine I use this. I tried many other Borneo oils and non have this unique profile.

and again @zahir is also a legend for trading this oil for a gram or so of different kinam chips i sent him.

to those who know this oil as well as i do and who have heated a big variety of kinam in their lives i think you are lucky if you still have some! if you do lol POST A PICTURE OF IT HERE!! MAN THIS OIL MADE MY DAY AGAIN!!
I should've charged you more hahah 😛 glad you enjoy it 🙂

An oud oil from www.pureoudh.com. I know the owner, so we do business privately and we are now good friends, I would consider him a best friend even though I havent met him... yet. He is also in the UK. Anyway, he had this mystery oil, an oil decanted into a 6ml bottle... so he sent it to me for £100 and it is VERY nice. This is a nice oil, most likely a plantation oil since we have worked out with my nose and his products, that it is some type of oil with Burmese wood. It has a camphoric minty smell at opening all the way to the top notes, also some deep, rich, comfortably warm notes... I haven't worn this oil a ton yet, and it has been a bit since I have worn it, but it is very nice. And 100 pounds for 6ml of a very nice Burmese wood oil? Deal. I will be back later when I go through it again and tell you all the notes that I gathered, and I will try and describe them in a good way, and I hope I do not look stupid as I am new to oil, but I guess everyone has different skin types, bacteria on their skin (good and bad), moisture, heat etc, so not everyone has the same smell on their skin even with the same oil. I put oils on my care workers and when I smell it of them they smell really different.

This is my first time I feel comfortable posting here btw!!! 😀

Bro you completely ripped me off lmao 680$ was sold for 2.5g and I sent you near 1200$ worth of different kinams

Honestly, this oil 2.5g I added it to my 1.5g that I had and a bottle with near4g for me worth 10,000$ lmao

Truth is we both ripped each other off willingly and in a friendly manner 😹
10,000 dollar oil? Is this the famous wild true Kyara oil?

Swiped several oils:

Jinkoh Store Emperor of Pursat
Such a delicious scent of sweet confection,
so many colorful notes glazed in sweet resin.
Almond, fizzy bitter lime, ripe fruit, blooming flowers, lacquer, wood, incense, spice, medicine, and of course some oudiness.

Habzoud Unreleased Hindi
This is a barny oud, not foul smelling, but use caution in public. Nice settled oil with an opening kick👊. It brings back memories of the many Hindi oils I have tried. Flowers on a green vine, honey, a sprinkling of herbs and spice, a touch of pollen…..has an old school classic feel, but not the dark type, more like a hybrid of classic and modern. The barn which is there from start to finish is the top layer, all the other notes which do not compete with the barn is the second layer, and the bottom layer is the agarwood resin note with just a hint of incense.

And finally, a special treat from Habz’s private collection. An oil that smells like it was distilled from sinking grade agarwood. It reminds me of Ensar’s Kannan Koh. Not flamboyant with fuity florals, but all business, serious business of sinking chips.

I’m a huge fan of Emperor Of Pursat, I’ve mentioned it quite a few times on Ouddict. Your description is really good! The sweet ripe fruit, almond & anise notes are mouthwatering.
I’m no expert in Kynam by any stretch but do you get a medicinal, sparkling kinamic Sinensis top note?
