Great comparison of a handful of Cambodian oils. These write-ups can be of great value to people looking to purchase their first Cambodi oil.
I agree. This is exactly where I currently am. I have three very good Pursat/Cambodi samples from Mesoud, none of which I had ever smelled before. I would love to get a good sized bottle from all these different regions.

Onto the second sample today from Mesoud. Today is the Trat Classic 2020. Comparing next to the Trat Borai, this is definitely the stronger of the two with a more pronounced pungency but still in the background. This being more running alongside the sweetness which seems to be characteristic of a Trat oud. I'm loving both of them to be honest and if asked to chose a favourite already out of these I would be hard pressed. I am definitely a fan of Trat.

@Al Shareef Oudh Ameen.
Arrived yesterday and applied immediately. Lasts around eight hours on skin. Opens with delightful notes akin to hospital.
Medicinal perhaps. Over time it's settled into a lovely incense type note that changes also.
Towards the end I found the most attractive notes in my olfactory experience. Woodlands type notes after a fall of rain where deer had been gathered.
I often get this note while running in the Phoenix Park here in Dublin, which has a substantial deer population. I immediately picked the latent musk note.

Must see if they react to it outside of the rutting season of course...😇
No barnyard notes at all but has has a Hindi vibe to it.

swipe of the day is Ertugrul Gazi - why don't I apply this oil as frequent as I would love to ? The answer is simple, I do not have enough of this. This is an intoxicating pattani wood in a bottle. If I could give this a color, I would call it magical green. It is so difficult to decipher this gem. blissful feeling. SUBLIME.

I requested a sample of this one since it seems to get lots of praise. I'm not a fan of these oils but who knows? Many love it.

I just tried a bit of Sher Shah from AnNajwa, one of several oud samples i am looking at here. The samples form a lineup of what smells like really rich classic oud to me - sniffing through these is really bringing me back.

This is a first impression on this one (assam, 2024, "Sher Shah") The opening is complex and bright, projecting, somewhat animalic, smells like it had some soak / ferment (but maybe that is just assam regional profile?). This one really grabs me though once that initial blast settles down. Reminding me of another fine oil and I can't put my finger on it - it has this kind of "hard dense resin" presence. That's the impression that comes to mind. There's a slight soapiness, and then this dense dignified scent with a bit of edge - absolutely pleasant and sophisticated on top of the opening ferment notes. Very present and attention grabbing oil - smells like quality. AnNajwa can really pick 'em

I have a sample of this as well but am yet to give it a go. Will do so soon.😁

Jinkoh Store - Grand Emperor Hue
First swipe of pure oud oil ever so pardon the amateur thoughts on it. I’ve sprayed a perfume by Lost Tribe a couple of times called Fiber, which contains 4 grams of Malaysian, Cambodi, and Thai ouds. I believe this oil resembles the opening of that fragrance a lot. I’m not sure which one specifically in the spray, but I get a highly terpenic, acetone, wood varnish hypnotizing type scent. It feels like the fumes of the oil are permeating my nostrils when I sniff. Fiber dries down to a spicy, sweet, leathery, resinous cola scent, and while I do get some of that, so far Hue has remained a mostly loud purply violet acetone vibe. Will see how it changes as it dries.

Jinkoh Store - Borneo Qi
Swipes a mini line of this one on my forearm as well. In contrast to the Hue, this one has a diesel, gasoline, pungent type of aroma to it. It’s more green to me and has an OG Kush/Sour Diesel type of resinous cannabis note to me. Only did a little of this one but it might even be more pleasing to me than the Hue.

I recently purchased the vintage Mysore Sandal from him and he sent me some samples. A real gem of a house is @An Najwa. Have some Pursat oil coming shortly.
So many really excellent distillers on this site.

Excellent use of descriptive words. Good review, your getting the hang of it.

Jinkoh Store - Sumatra Essenza

Swiped a bit of the Sumatra tonight. I wrote many paragraphs just now describing this scent and my thoughts on it, but it has begun to transform and morph on my wrists drastically from the opening. What a beautiful oil, will be looking forward to seeing how it continues to dry.
[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

I just got some sample from An Najwa of several oud oils. It's a striking collection: sumatra, maluku, borneo, papua, assam, burma.

I just put on a small swipe of the Borneo and while i have not yet had time to study the details, one thing is clear it is SO NICE! Reminds me of some of the early oriscent and UNS fine craft borneos from way back.

Each of the six oils has smelled unique but been similar on my brief first inspection, in the sense that they hit hard, familiar, and seeming like a "select" grade of the familiar, classic profiles.

This Borneo is so nice though.

Need to explore this house now I guess
