Hirta Deadwood by Maunamoku.

4-5 fat swipes of this oil, confusing, but blissful... especially when you dont wear it often.

Lovely green tones, notes of a lush, green, clean, damp, wet rainforest, that is always in the background till the end of the base notes, and going into dry down (which takes 2.5-3 hours). Resinous incense notes, resinous and agarwood incense notes, zangy citrus oranges and lemon, wet florals, spices that can be quite zingy on the nose, sweet and slighlty spicy cinnamon notes, with some possible woody and spicy clove, ethereal oceanic/aqua notes, some kinamic-like soft mintiness here and there coming and going in the wind and some balsamic resin type notes, vanilla and amber accord-like notes, then by base notes to dry down you have a nice, interestingly powdery floral, clean sweet (agarwood) resin, woodiness, a nice strong soft kinamic-like mintiness that is stable for around 60-90mins, and a slight hint of that ethereal oceanic, with mild saltiness, note.

Oh and some sort of resin that reminds me of when I tried myrrh.

Excellent oil that surprises me with different notes each time, sometimes very little notes I detect (which is caused by wearing it even a little too much, so I save this for when I am really in the mood and today was that), and others it is a note party haha. AMAZING oil by @Maunamoku

There was more notes but I just dont know how to word them, and it would probably take a long post lol, this experience was quite a journey... just like when I first tried it. My forever love, Hirta Deadwood.
Oh man now I wanna try this even more lol I'm slackin I really gotta sample this & kedah Soilwood asap !

I love this kind of after rain profile, got me wondering about this now. What are Maunamoku's oils like?
Hey Yajee , excuse me for chiming in but the more recommendations the better right. Sam has awesome high quality oils I highly recommend. I only have a few but I think most are new gen maybe some traditional but I don't think any are fermented distillations. He has .3 & 2.5s available on his site but you can get grams & pretty much whatever you want on request just contact him through email , here or IG.
Balayong (fili) , Malaysian Blue , Nagaland Dream & Birdsong (unreleased Malay) are the ones I own , all phenomenal oils. I've heard he's popular for his new gen Hindis & I can attest to the one I have for sure. So far I've had nothing but the smoothest transactions & communication with Sam , he's been very kind & generous as well.

Wearing this beautiful Trat Borei from @mesOUD today and just regaled by it.

Grandma smelled my wrist and pointed out something fascinating to me. The very beginning of this oud has this wonderful buckwheat note. I would’ve never noticed it if my grandma, a lover of buckwheat Kasha, didn’t discover. This is short lived as the spicy sweet clove cigarette and peppery vanillin note takes over. Lovely oil and can’t wait to pickup a full gram of it, my samples almost gone.

Sher Shah assam 2024 An Najwa

This Agallocha oil falls into the clean / short soak hindi scent category. Initially manuka honey and sassafrass come to mind - I have encountered these notes in most Indian oud I have smelled. The scent is very saturated, with some sharpness and very engaging to the senses. That saturated sharp note is what gets a little funky in some of the fermented smelling oils. There is the vibrating/bright scintillating wood note that is also familiar... a bit of bitterness bordering on phenolic, a warm soapiness and a moderate creaminess backing it all.

My palette for this type of oud is not particularly sophisticated, I can say that this brings other Hindi offerings i have smelled to mind, this one is not too soapy and that bitter note is pretty appealing, lack of ferment and funk is also appreciated, though I enjoy those as well.

A little more time has passed… This one is incredibly addictive. At some point I need to acquire a stash of this general quality / type of oil because I don't have one right now. Spending too much money on Jasmine and other materials though
Glad you liked it. The true to wood scent from heart to base is what makes it so likeable

2 absolute gems from Craftoud I didn't appreciate until getting into new gen oils. I wore the Kalakassi today , what a dope wear ! I def needa add some more new gen hindis to my collection. Dr.Prasun has some of the most high quality artisanal oils for an absolute steal !View attachment 37766
I have their Vintage Koh Kong, very nice oil!!! I got a sample of their wild Pursat, and wore it yesterday and it is AMAZING. I was gonna write about it but around 2 hours in my friend asked if I wanted to go out and party a little, since I haven't really done that in a couple of years, nothing too sinister lol 😉... but yeah I have some left so I may leave a post about it, it also lasted around 6-8 hours peak, and I could still smell some resemblance of it on my hand this morning. From what I remember though, it opened up with a thick, terpene-y, vapours, lovely sweet dark resin and dark red oil smell, with a strong smell of rich pipe and cigar tobacco, with a kind of smokiness, with a strong soft mentholic type mint as well as a semi-sweet red berry/sour cherry and sourish berry tart type pastry/desert, woody and resinous incense, with a nice spiciness of a home baked ginger bread with cinnamon on top. It is beautiful. I am getting it soon 1g is only £115 (£146-147 USD).

Mesoud VietKing 😍

I have a couple of precious drops of this amazing elixir. I am revisiting this after a long gap and I can smell the changes just over a short period of time - the fresh crassna wildness is rearranging itself into a beautiful deep chewy resinous syrup. This is just a brief reflection after applying a little dab, but this seriously beautiful stuff. What will something like this be like in 10 years??

I hope mesoud is saving half of these runs to release aged versions at some point just to provide benchmarks of what aged high quality oud should smell like for future ouddicts pursuing the higher end of this hobby!

Cambodi Smoke 2 by HabzOud - First impressions.

Very lovely oud, and I paid for a gram and got 1.3g and a nice attar that is no longer for sale, thank you @Habz786.

First applying you get smashed in the nose with smokey bitter resinous wood, with a strong smokey tobacco note, then after around 2-3 mins it settles into this lovely, woody, dark, black, sweetish resin incense notes (this oil is pure Cambodi wood on charcoal all the way through), develops a bit more and you get beautiful notes of red fruits, mainly berries, and sour dark cherries and lighter sweet/sour cherries, with this woody and deeply resinous note always being there, it feels more like you are heating the Cambodian wood on your hand instead of an oil!!! Eventually you get notes of citrus, plain agarwood room temp, foresty notes with a slight dark minty vibe, earthiness and strong, good quality pipe or cigar tobacco that, in itself, has a kind of chocolate note, as well as a normal earthy cocoa note, with sweet and sour chocolate cake notes made with the dark earthy cocoa and the both sweet and sour red fruits turned into jam, this is all within 2 hours. Now I am riding a smooth relaxing, wet (but sometimes dry) resinous Cambodian stick and wood incense. And it also gets sweeter and sweeter as it goes on and on, at the first 1 hour it was sweet/sour/bitter, now it is becoming quite sweet.

Lovely stuff.

I saw that KK 2015 post the other day it's also what motivated me to revisit my Craft oils lol & Bro that Pursat sounds bonkers ! solid price too , even his more expensive oils are still very affordable imo. My Kalakassi was only $67 a gram I think It was & Kampot Red was like $40 , major steals. I'm gonna post more details on Kalakassi later , enjoy those Cambodis bro !
