[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

My first Sulaym purchase. After reading all the excellent praise of No. 1, I went for HM Sultan Qaboos Burmi 79’.
I’ll give it a wear on Sunday as the weather will have cooled down by then & it will allow me to experience the nuance of the oil properly. Years ago I wouldn’t have had the ability to wait, it took me a long time to learn patience.
Today, Melbourne was 37 degrees Celsius. Hot! Tomorrow will be 35, Sunday a refreshing 23. Burmese & Hindi Oud wears the best in a cool to moderate temperature.

What beautiful packaging & branding. A wonderful choice of colour & texture.
Thanks @SULAYM for the sample of HM Badshah. I adore Hindi Oud, Haflong is a superb region, to test a vintage oil from 1981 is a blessing.

Just wear it indoors in the air conditioning 😎

How is the fermentation in this? Does it seem pretty intense? I’ve always wondered about this oil as well but I can be a bit adverse to certain kinds of fermentation notes.

Time to try AHO Oud Shah Alam

Powerful diffusive opening, although powdery/dusty comes to mind, I think all those vapors can mask other notes, so the oil doesn’t sing at this point, it just hisses. Other people may enjoy exploring volatiles, and get a mind buzz while deciphering notes in the higher registry, but that’s not me😋
After I let it blow it’s steam for an hour, it begins to sing, but the song is not of accessory notes, it zooms in on the “sinking Malay oudh”, with a chip on low heat, plus the raw chip, plus that verve you get with oils juiced from sinking grade.

The Maceration that Al Hind Ound made with Siberian and Mongolian musk, white ambergris, Mysuru 3, and Oud Shah Alam should be something really special after a good amount of aging.

Hello dear friends 🙂
Today I am feeling Agallocha ^^

Habz Al Janah 2
Craft Oud Kakojan

Al Janah 2 open the first door with a delightful Flower that doesn’t exist… maybe in my dream or somewhere else …
Hard to explain but easy to feeling…
Anis star macerated In Acacia honey 🍯
It remind me Licorice candy 🍭 in Pakistani/Indian Hanout of my city during my childhood…
Light tamarind aura that you can also catch in Habz Taj Mahal…
After 2 hours, you get hay and grass bitterness still sweet with a medicinal note almost ethereal maybe unreal …
Al Janah is an oil that you are afraid of missing even with a tola left i think …
I would love to get this Flower in my garden … I hope to find some more of it
In future inshallah…
If someone got Al janah 1, 2 or 3 … or even Jinkoh lokma which is close …
i would be interested in ^^

Craft oud Kakojan remind me the most beautiful Hay note with nuts and Caramel i have smelled…
As I am living in France, I’ve was lucky enough few times to taste the Famous «Salted Caramel Butter » from Bretagne…
Usually when I open the sealed jar, it will never be closed again 😅
I literally drink this amazing Salted Caramel butter until my tongue need to go washing inside the jar and I am looks like kids with caramel Mustache 🤣
Kakojan Smell that ! with nutty nuances and soothing effect …
Also,
When I was kid, I loved jumping in the haystacks … I was smelling Kakojan there 🥰

This is why I love so much oud at a dangerous point …
It remind me such deep things in my memory… and nothing else can do it like oud …
Al hamdulillah we have senses …
We have ability of smelling… and you know what ?? things got scent 🤯
Is this a crazy coincidence? that makes me so grateful 🤲☝️
We’ve got eyes to see and there is true beauty which deserves to be watched, contemplated …
Sorry I am losing myself in my Ouddiction 😅

I wish you all a very Gooud swipe with all the Gooudness of Oudiness ^^

@mesOUD Havaa today. Gyrinops, Sri Pada / Sri Lanka. Trying to soak up the profile here to learn from this specimen.

It is wild stuff with a lot going on competing for attention in the opening - rich complex toothy herbal top note facets are winning at the moment. There is a kind of bitter-tart-phenolic robustness to the core that is heartening, and a certain "meatiness" - not sure how to explain that exactly - an accord of savory, metallic and salty notes in any case. Beneath this is a growing woody and resinous layer with some facets that bring Borneo oils to mind in some ways. A kind of smooth carmelized sweetness. A dark old resin vibe is rising within this as well. I have other scents and residues on my skin as usual so I am not able to get a clean impression at the moment.

Very nice rich and complex oud! very fun to see these beauties at the earliest stages of their development! thank you Mesoud

Mashallah

Straight for the exclusive range.
Yet to try cant wait

Once again dealing with the side effects of applying a dab of @mesOUD oud oil early on a day when I am working on blending. I had an "I HAVE CREATED A MASTERPIECE FROM ORDINARY ESSENTIAL OILS AND ABSOLUTES!!" moment only to realize a moment later it's the Havva (Havaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!) coming through with its heavy dark choco oud resin base...

...back to the drawing board.

Wearing Al-Aqsa by Al-Hind Oud

This one is a very classic merauke profile. It’s rich, somewhat cold and leathery. It reminds me of old mahogany woods, jet black leather bound books, umami rich incense notes and even a touch of spice. I really enjoy this sort of profile especially when it comes to Meraukes. It reminds me a lot of Purbakala but this is deeper, darker, and filled with more complexity.

Swipe of the night is Sher shah @An Najwa - through and though upper Assam profile here with some cross of a few notes I get from Sylheti oud oils (technically similar environment).

The usual hay note but less fermented, less sour, the barn is there but smooth, without harsh edges. Let’s see how it transitions.

Burma 1979 HM Sultan Qaboos from @SULAYM

Very interesting experiencing high quality traditionally soaked / distilled oils. Tangy old oud, scintillating wood heart, some dry powdery aspects come out with a deep sniff; has "heavy" woody and agrestic facets that I think may be a signature of a certain type of soaking/ fermentation.

Very wild and exotic oil, the Ancient World is in my reach with stuff like this...

Also i feel like the ferment / soak aspect is popping in part because I have been on a long run of smelling / wearing very clean unfermented ouds like the samples of Mesoud's distillations and some clean smelling oils from habz and yusa, daily wear clean ck oil, etc..

Applying this is quite the contrast, fascinating actually.

Lol offensive ? Also I've seen other guys curse on here as well so ? Search curse words & you'll see...actually way worse & in an argumentative/disrespectful manner. I've been cursing here & there in my posts since I joined this forum about a year ago & I post quite often. When I do I don't overdo it & It's not even in every post. I don't curse at anyone or curse in a disrespectful nor explicit manner. It's usually when I'm extra excited or passionate about something. "Some of us" seems like just you , no one including the Ouddict staff has brought this to my attention before so what's the real problem here ?
i cant say i dont swear like a pirate. i wont be offended if you exorcize your freedom of speech

Habib ~ MesOud alongside Suriranka ~ EO

Comparing 2 similar ouds simultaneously makes understanding the finer nuances easier.
Both have salty notes. Habib gives off warm beach/sand saltiness & pepper under an aurora sky whereas, Suriranka gives off cool aquamarine saltines with bittersweet frangipani floating on deep ocean blue waters.
