Habzoud- Zamarad 2, this morning. I have been wearing the new unknown location sample(Mamluk) yesterday but it's all off me now. Walking around working this morning I swear I am now getting notes from Zamarad that I was getting yesterday from Oud Mamluk. This might be an indication as to where it's from.

Trat Borai from mesoud's old stock. Pairing nicely with some bright, golden Suntory.

Yep you nailed it man. I went through exactly the same thing with his Thai Zen. The Zen collection are all super thick and aged so less is definitely more. Soon enough you'll be sticking your nose in the bottle..trust me. 😛
I'm bummed I missed the Thai Zen. I bet that one is amazing.

Speaking of sticking my nose in the bottle, it amazes be how from the bottle I get a bit of barnyard, but other than a few fleeting seconds it's nowhere on the skin.

Havva - @mesOUD

It's fascinating and educational seeing these oils age. To me this is very valuable and a learning opportunity.

I can clearly detect that Anas has a few months on Havva. I also feel like Havva will be even more exception with a bit of time.

Havva feels golden bright and blue as those aquatics / oceanic salty notes start to come in. The opening was very terpenic this time. This smoothes over and the tropical fruits develop. Today I detected some green mango and Guava. Not as much resemblance to Anas as I did when I first smelled it.
As it progresses, those salty beach notes start popping in. Kind of like being at the beach. Then that beautiful Silani dry down with this beautiful honeyed incense.

Clearly new gen. But what I find with brother Mesouds oils is that they have BASE and power. On my skin, these oils just go on and on. Easy 12 hours plus with clear transitions. I feel like @mesOUD has uncovered some untapped something with his distillations.

Absolutely beautiful stuff 🙏

I wonder if some of that performance comes from the very long distillations that he does, i.e., material that is collecting in the still on the 30th+ day is the material that is lingering on your skin hours after the top and heart notes are gone!

Yes it's very curious.

Anas for example was going strong 18h yesterday up until I had a shower before bed. I was also in a mix of air conditioning and quite warm and humid environments

That is soul of OUD
material quality,equipment selection(column material,column diameter,length etc) distillation techniques
When a chicken hatches an egg out of its ass it raises a whole village, I am not just doing that,
I don't like to talk too much and exaggerate about what I do.
I prefer to let the oils speak for themselves instead of me.
I work day and night, and now even at work people can tell if my distillations are going well or not when they look at my face.
İt is a big part of my life now
What i can say is it's not just throwing high grade materials in the pot and boil it.
In each distillation, I follow a procedure according to the wood, I actually share the whole process on my instagram channel (except for the parts that are buisness secret)
Some distillations I start with steam distillation and continue with hydro distillation, for example in YAVUZ distillation, I distilled the same wood twice (yes it sounds crazy)
In a word, the secret is a passion at the level of love.
Note:
I didn't choose Soul of OUD because it's a nice sounding phrase.
If I wanted to, I could increase my yield easyly 2-3 times what I'm already getting.
But I'm focusing on soul of OUD,

HAVVA @mesOUD . At the first sniff mind blown. Extremely complex profile. Not a single note settles as I am sniffing deeply I am out of breathe but the number of different notes coming through does not stop and on top of that in every whiff the notes start differently. Sometimes I get terpenic notes at the start and sometimes I get mango and guava and then salty oceanic notes it is as if I am walking through the beach salty ocean water hitting the beach and there are trees with tropical ripe fruits hanging through and I am eating mangoes and guavas with sweet honey like wind blowing through my face what a ride this is. Beautiful!

It's good to hear a little bit about what goes into the process, because as a consumer it's really hard to have any perspective on extraction beyond broad generalizations that exist on the Internet.

Cambodi Smoke 2 from Habzoud. I wanted to try Al Hareer but from the vial Cambodi Smoke caught my attention a little more, if only because I usually rock Hindis.

I was expecting a lot more smoke from Cambodi Smoke but I think this just has to do with the fact that I was expecting something harsher. This is really nice! Instead of black smoke I'm getting white smoke. Fruity, tobacco with a slight mentholic, ethereal note. I've only smelled a few cambodis and most I've smelled were really jammy. I like how this one doesn't go that sweet

Malay Rose(kelantan) - Oud.sg

Rose leaning florals over top clean old wood antique library with some terpy top notes. No funk or off notes.

I didn't much for this when I first got but it is growing on me now, also a good price to quality ratio. Nice complexity.

Lao kham(pusong) - Oud.sg

I was initially turned off from this one by the jammyness but today Im getting more of the bitter bite, vanilla, and florals that Id expect from a decent Lao oil. Nice complexity as well.

Thank you for the detailed response and insight into some of what goes on behind the scenes. We are really lucky and blessed to have access to such ultra quality works.

Today Xiangshui - Habzoud

It's taken me a while to really appreciate this but now I can't seem to get enough! Wisps of ancient woods, leather bound dusty library books...there's this citric like quality and freshness too. I love it 🙂
