I thought the third one was from 2017. The silani one right?
I went back and checked and one description it says 2007/2008 while another 2011 (same year as Purple Kinam) this is for Oud Royale II.

The second version is Oud Royale: Philippines which is 2021.

The question is OR2 one, two or three iterations (2007, 2008 and 2011) I’ve attached some supporting photos to see what I’m referring to

Interesting. I didn’t know that was more than one distillation.

But still, I remember the original OR as being the SQ Maroke, and then OR1985 was a Sumatran oud and I think OR3 was a silani oil. I have no idea if OR3 had more than one distillation. I don’t think the original could have more than one distillation, but who knows. All of this just depends on what Ensar decides to call it.

I should add that Ensar has mentioned before that oils from the same material haul with the same distillation set up (basically if everything is the same to a T) the oil is the same, the sole difference is the batch seniority. I agree with this take from him. But in case of organic oils the batch differ due to the material not being from the same haul batch to batch. Thought I’d add this, I’m in no way doubting Ensar’s honesty but rather seeking clarification.

In the case of the Oud Royale series. It usually added the region after Oud Royale, e.g Oud Royale: Sri Lanka. The idea being these oils representing the equivalent (but not entirely identical) of the original OR through different regions but of course we can all agree that the original OR gaps them all

With ensar there are always several different release dates and names so no one except him (maybe not even him) knows which one is which.
It is a horrible mess and really frustrating because it helps cheaters and fraudulent people, to profit from that confussion.
Just one example:
Take borneo3000, his famous oil, i know at least 4 iterations. One is sold for up to 3k per bottle, others for 600-700$ per bottle. 🤯

I swiped it once and first impressions were amazing, I have to swipe it one more time, maybe with nha trang ultima next to it, to compare, its this good 😊
Ive swiped it a few times and I would not say it's amazing but it is a nice oil for the price. Appealing and something I want to keep smelling. But compared to nha trang ultima, not even really in the same category from what I recall.

Nor should it be for the price point.

The profile is more sinensis leaning and does not have the usual basic crassna profile you'd expect. Blind smelling it I could easily pass it for a basic Hainan oil.

Complexity wise, smells like more like an essential oil type oil than an artisanal multi layered "perfume" oud oil. This will be apparent if compared next to higher calibre oils like nha trang Ultima or nha trang oritsu, etc.

Not knocking it, just managing expectations and giving my honest take since I do like the oil, etc.

That's great information. Cheers.🙏

Leyte Reverie from @AlHind Oud - first impression! Good stuff - I love this kind of fresh green gaharu. A bit salty, custardy, incense-like, oceanic, warm masala fuzz... no off notes or offensive pungency to be found. Ahhhhhh!

(that is supposed to be a sigh of pleasure, not a death-scream - I am ok!)
