Begum by @mesOUD
It’s been some time since I have looked at it and today seemed like a good day. Not too cold, not too warm outside.

Starts off with only Hindi for me and about fifteen mins later rose takes over. Then, after a good 30-40 mins after the reign of the rose there is a beautiful, harmonious dance of rose and oud. The signature leathery dark note of Hindi intertwined with the lemony citrusy notes of rose stays for a long time.

Oud Chachak - Habzoud. If Oud Boran was a grandfather all wise and austere. A well dressed gentleman with his pipe and bourbon then, Oud Chachak is his nephew. Full of promise and keen to throw off the uncertainty of his youth. He will clearly be filling his grandfathers shoes and doing it well. Already, Oud Chachak is ageing well.

EO Jaya

Starts off somehow dry and gets beautifully resinous. Reminds me a lot of some Malay/tigerwood oils. After the first 10 min it gets sweeter and more incensy dark resinous. Very hard to explain but this is one of the oudiest oils I have smelled. It is like someone imagining oud in it purest form
I really enjoy this one a lot

Sulaym - HM Sultan Qaboos Burmi ‘79

A very beautiful example of a traditional aged oil. The dry down exhibits a rich decadent Oudiness; deeply resinous, amber-labdanum, hay, cigar tobacco, a boozy chocolatey patchouli note, a lived in slightly animalic leather. Similar experience to an old school Hindi oil yet the blood red fruit note + purple floral-incense note seperates it from the Indian profile. I also perceive a waxy, earthy, starchy, bread like aroma of orris butter.

The fermentation note in the very top is interesting, it’s the shortest lived barnyard top note I’ve experienced! Upon initial application you smell it for a total of 60 seconds before the wave of purple florals-Iris comes crashing in. The oil develops beautifully, the incense note is captivating, a kaleidoscopic heart of florals & ripe fruits before that heavenly base of warm, full bodied, sweet oriental resins & dark incensey Oud. Glorious!

Leyte Reverie - AlHind Oud

This one is kind of a head spinner. My first thoughts when smelling from the bottle were "piercing, dense, oceanic".

Then when I applied it, "ethereal, delicate, musky".

A floral kind of muskiness. The "watery" note of a very young oil. There's a sweet resinous note here as well that I wasn't expecting so early after what the opening showed.

As it gets going the florals become clearer, and the oceanic vibe from the bottle starts showing itself. That sweet resinous note becomes more grounded, but the oil never loses that ethereal quality.

It really makes me think of a lightly roasted Taiwanese high mountain oolong. Delicate flowers, breezy island soul, rounded out with a touch of balsamic woodiness.

Given it's age, I imagine it will only get better in the near (and far) future.

Habzoud's Al Hareer. The opening feels slightly red and cinnamon-y but it quickly opens up to lovely hay and butter. The barn notes are really played down. I think I may prefer The Oud Lab's Garo Jing a bit more due to it being a little more rude and potent, but both are great and I want to smell them side by side. Overall, these new oils have been a success!

Oriscent Oud Royale 2

Huge presence. I don't need to swipe this. Not even micro-swipe it. Just unscrew the vial and gently pick up with a plastic applicator the remnants of oil that coat the film inside the cap.

Old wooden smell, deep and creamy oleoresin, purple florals, and green shades. It starts very high-pitched and settles heavily. The opening is a burst of violet leaf-like cucumber green notes and candied violets. Shortly after, the deep wood aroma creeps in and only gets more assertive with time. There are some light salty-marine nuances I pick up at times. Stunning oil. Not much superior to Pinoy LTD but definitely has more going on. Which only makes me appreciate Pinoy more.

There’s 3 or 2 oud royale’s 2 that’d I’ve seen, 2007 - 2011 and 2021 am I correct here or is it just 2 versions? I’m guessing this is the 2007/2011 version. Have you tried the 2021 version?

Thank you for the detailed response and insight into some of what goes on behind the scenes. We are really lucky and blessed to have access to such ultra quality works.

Today Xiangshui - Habzoud

It's taken me a while to really appreciate this but now I can't seem to get enough! Wisps of ancient woods, leather bound dusty library books...there's this citric like quality and freshness too. I love it 🙂
Same for me , underwhelmed at first but then addicted to it . It's weird how very different oud smells from region to region . I doubt that we will find something similar to this oill.

Levent - MesOUD X YusaAromatics

Complex opening that hits like a sledgehammer and goes straight to your brain. There's a fresh quality running throughout that is really nice but at the same time the oil has this deep oudy character. I picked up and enjoyed sweet aged grape nances on this wearing.

This is one gem of an oil!!!
