I have to agree, they’re very good for 2 hours and then it’s super muted tbh. I did a good swipe of Lan Xang (Lao) 4 hours ago and barely any scent, very minimal aroma.

Just speculating here but this might be a sign of shorter distillation times and more industrial rapid processes so heavier molecules are at lower proportions than they would be with a long distillation like @mesOUD has documented with his projects here. A lower % of sesquiterpenes and and a higher % of lighter weight aromatic molecules that evaporate more readily...

Do the oils have good staying power?
Because unfortunately this is the big weak point of fushigi oils...
Very low for a still high price.
They last a really long time for me, even from a tiny dot. Sometimes they are even overpowering and I go nose blind.

But also I do not use gulf style oils and I live in a moderate climate, so maybe that is part of it.

Hmmm, that could be the case.
And to be very honest some of them are very powerful and some are just weak. For example men tien Brunei Kyara and malinu (I had them for the longest) are very powerful. But others seems meh. I need more time to study

That's part of it as well. For example, the nha trang oil is pretty weak, almost watery compared to the other. Tarakan a bit weak. Men tian was almost syrupy and thick. But pretty much all the others I tried were pretty strong.

At that same time, I could see how if I lived in a very hot dry climate how they may not perform as well.

Oudique - Khmer Tiger. An aged Cambodi from 2015, the differences so far between this and Huain Atteq (2004) are very noticeable. Will comment more after the dry down. Khmer Tiger is displaying more along the traditional old school Cambodi. Diesel and over ripe fruit. Nothing fermented or funky though. I wonder if this is a location of the tree thing or due to the extra ageing of the latter?

Habzoud - Mai Kritsana
Testing this thai oil 😃
It is a thick, darker oil
In the beginning a typical sweet profil if i wouldn‘t know it is thai, i could also have said cambodi. Fruity, resinous, a tiny bit medicinal, kind of „oud yaqoub“ vibes.
After 1-2 hours sweetness and intensity tone down, aroma gets an honey-hay-like touch with floral nuances, like some yunnan oils smell in the drydown.

Continuance of Khmer Tiger dry down. Definitely now getting some lovely woodiness akin to Huain Ateeq but not as noticable. Really nice jaminess running alongside that woody perfume. I've smelled oils that are either one or the other but not both at the same time. Cambodi's are where it's at. They have an outstanding reputation for a reason.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

MesOUD's Habib - an artisanal distillation from Jambi, Sumatra.

Beautiful fresh breeze, oceanic, green and resinous. It's full bodied with a "mind buzz" inducing top and a robust resin backbone. I also pick up "Kinamic" like qualities.

This oil is a gem that holds a special place for me. 💗.

Wearing Fragrant Harbour from @YusaAromatics for the first time today (back of my hand, not warm skin)

The imagery that came to mind: Enjoying the first shower of Monsoon in a tropical country while while enjoying a cold glass of fruit infused black tea the covered porch. This is not exactly what I expected from the description on the website but I think the honey-white flower-vanilla aspects are creating a 'fruit infused black tea' "accord" to my nose. Haha!

Srimango - @YusaAromatics

This one smelled so weird on the dip stick. I don't even know how explain it, but I thought I was going to hate it.

Immediately after application that scent started to transform into a kind of oceanic blast. Slowly, the fruits started developing: definitely some mango, guava, tropical etc. Then the oud resin started developing. Merging into a beautiful resinous tropical fruit medley.

At one point I had a mind buzzer that went straight to blue and I've been chasing that blue ever sense... but it's only peaked out 1 or 2 more times.

This was/is a fun one to watch develop, and it almost perfectly captures sinking silani chips on a subitism.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

Ouds arrived from Kuwait.
First is “Failaka” attar, Indian sandalwood, two oud oils, rose oil. Very nice, smooth, relaxing scent, a favorite for old people.
Second is Thailand oud oil from Nakhon, close to Malaysia. Cool camphor, earthy wet jungle notes, a little floral and woody, distilled 2014.
Finally aged prachin Oud, 2014-15, sweet deep green a little smoke, this can be used to make a solid musk maceration which I’ll do inshallah.
