What do you pick up on the most from it, or what seems overwhelming?
That would be "seemed overwhelming". As I said at the beginning it was due to oversaturation of me wearing large amounts of it almost daily. It's a strong wood oud. You don't need much.

I've been on a huge maroke kick recently and have also been eyeballing this one. Any coffee notes to it? Smokey, earthy, tar?
Oh yes the smoke notes and the coffee notes ,I want that.
I need to read proof before posting 😂

Alamgir 1 from @AlHind Oud is oud of the moment. I do get a real sense of complexity, I assume reflecting the multi region distillation. Very nice and rich, a soft leatheriness that I find much more appealing than usual surrounded by sweet and saturated layers of oud.

Not getting the clearest impression this time because I applied some sandalwood oil on the same wrist 5 hours ago. I don't know what you all experience but to me sandalwood layered on skin with oud just completely dominates - not in the sense of smelling stronger but in the sense of throwing a blanket over the oud, muting and altering the scent to the point where it's a different experience altogether. I have a decent swipe of the Oud so I am still picking up all of the goodness but the Sandalwood is fighting it.

Very much like the experience of Sandalwood with Musk. If you've experienced a really good musk tincture, and also macerated grains in Sandalwood you have experienced this massive difference.

The weird thing is it doesn't take much Sandalwood to flatten the top notes like that in oud or musk - a 5 hour old residue from a dab on skin is often enough to pancake a complex oud or musk.

Burmi '79 - @SULAYM

A strong, ancient, and masculine opening. This is what I imagined middle eastern royalty smelling like before I learned what oud, musk, ambergris and rose ottos were.

Fermented fruits here that remind me of smelling an empty wine glass after the residue dries. A touch of smoke, dry grass, and ancient oudiness.

Makes me think of cool summer nights and backyard bonfires.

CEEN II from @Al Shareef Oudh

Very accessible… another great oil to wear around the uninitiated. Camphor cinnamon and honey… Oud heart. Changes over time gently … 2.5 hours in and it’s still projecting. We were exploring Highland Park Village and Legacy West in Dallas today and I felt I fit in with this relatively well healed (joking?) Group. To understand the joke, See photo for an example of an Auto spotted today.

Bandarban - Sulaym
Alhareer - Habzoud
Two traditional oils that smelled soo good & different, maybe due to the direct comparison.
Bandarban as animalic as it is, smelt this time very dark, deep, resinous and a lot of dark chocolate which I didnt get before.
Alhareer opens with the soft barn its known for but this time transitioned to a new gen style of hindi with the scent of green olives & soft leather. I imagine olives leather to smell like this. It smelled in the heart and to the drydown "from my memory" similar to Sulayms Assam Artisan.
I had a long break from traditional hindis and I miss them 😋

Naga - Fushigi

Sorry to sound like a broken record or a knock off Ensar "Hyperbole" Oud, but the oil really does smell like some kyara.

Im guessing from the name that the source material is from India but I really wouldn't guess that based on the floral, spicy cola, green kyara vibes here. Much brighter and floral in the opening, but the dry down smells like when I put my nose into this green kyara powder that I have.

Zamarad 3 from our brother Habz.
Delivers as promised. Fresh windy blast of tropical fruits, indeed close to a sherbet. A playful side of green, not wet earth and crushed shrubs. I get connections to biting down on a prime jackfruit. In time a glove of cinnamon and warmth wraps around it leading to an almost musky/hyraxy/nutty facet that I'm still trying to figure out. It's presented itself the three times I've worn this so far. Sits on a solid dusty oudy base.
Have the day off, sun has finally come out in New England and I'm spending most of today outside gardening, hiking with the dogs and felling trees. Should be a good combo.

Muara kyara from Fushigi

Just landed a few mins ago, need time with it, but i like it so far.

Kinda reminds me of the sumatora wood from KyaraZen. Overtly floral, tropical, with some underlying Tarakan/Malinau elements that I get from White kinam oil from EO.

Numbing hits in the back of the throat and you can basically taste the aroma.
