Smells so Oud
Habzoud - AlJanah 1. Paradise? 100%. Please anoint my body with this oud when I die.
Adore HAVVA by MesOud!I've worn this twice and I am also lost for words. I will wear again on the weekend and see if I can articulate the experience but really, (my) words don't do this justice.
Today:
Havva - MesOUD.
I am loving this more and more. A bright, beautiful and uplifting profile.
Finally... wearing Habzoud - Maroke Qadeem today.Did you ever review his maroke? I think I recall you buying it.
That's a real classic Maroke (as I understand it, based on my experience with the region) - that strange flat earthy patchouli / mud cloth scent backed by the deep saturated mature resinous depths is key and makes for one of my favorite types of agarwood when it is all there. I have smelled several "thin" Marokes that have the mud note without the deep resinous back and I don't care for those. Kind of reminds me of the difference between Guinness Stout out of a bottle versus out of a can. One I adore and the other I can do without.Finally... wearing Habzoud - Maroke Qadeem today.
I don't want to be redundant, review listed under Oud of the Day.
This is quite simply divine and hits the spot for me.
100% Agree with you Sir, on both accounts! That's a real classic Maroke (as I understand it, based on my experience with the region) - that strange flat earthy patchouli / mud cloth scent backed by the deep saturated mature resinous depths is key and makes for one of my favorite types of agarwood when it is all there. I really wish I loved this one. It's really the only one of Habzoud's that I'm not into. I have decided however it's not HIS Maroke I don't enjoy though. It's all Maroke's. I have tried a few now from different vendors and none of them really sit well with me so it's not just his. I can definitely pick his out from the others though. It still carries his signature note within it which is always a standout. That's a real classic Maroke (as I understand it, based on my experience with the region) - that strange flat earthy patchouli / mud cloth scent backed by the deep saturated mature resinous depths is key and makes for one of my favorite types of agarwood when it is all there. Apologies for the amateur review, but I acknowledge my lack of experience. I will not simply repeat the reviews of the more experienced in order to appear knowledgeable, my moral compass doesn't allow such behavior.EO Kambojia Senkoh
This is one of the first Oudh oils I ever obtained, prior to joining Ouddict forum.
I found this 2022 Cambodia Oudh oil this morning in the back of the storage vault, and applied very delicate dots between thumb and forefinger zone.
I am a bit cautious before swiping my wrists, neck hollow, ears etc., as some oils can be difficult to remove completely if I find it to be disagreeable to my preferred aromatic accents.
Upon application I was overwhelmed by odor similar to cleaning the cat litter box, strong urine odor.
However, I have a self imposed rule and will wait at least another 6 minutes before I dare to observe the oil aroma again. I allow the oil to breathe a bit, react with clean skin then inhale ...see what has transformed.
So after 6 to 10 minutes I was able to detect a slight, very slight hint of vanilla and maybe a touch of floral candy, sort of soapy. Faint woody, not quite incense-like notes struggling to reach out.
So I waited an additional 15 minutes, and simply not excited or thrilled at this point in time by this particular Oudh oil, which is fine as I am learning to discern the subtle nuances and layers that are appealing to me personally.
By no means do I pretend to possess the experience to render an opinion as to quality of a distillation product such as Oudh oil, however I am almost able to discern personal preferences. This may be an excellent product and I am in need of much more experience to appreciate the nuances, so I will relegate it to the back of the vault to wait until I am ready.
Now what to do? 30 minutes in at least all of the urine-like odor has dissipated, actually has developed a soft apple blossom and woody aroma. I am not sure if I should apply a bit more, or leave well enough alone, I am learning that some oils require quite a bit more breathing and interaction time than others.
had I experienced this oil briefly anywhere I would not have purchased due to the initial ammonia-urine odor, but the soft blossom woody fragrance present now is personally appealing. Smooth soft floral, like early evening Petunia aroma, and muted woody notes pushing through.
A very pleasant, but not overpowering oil indeed.
I personally use the color system for scents I can’t specifically describe. Anything that smells “purple” is purple. Scent is so personal that leaving room for vagueness is not a fault imo.Apologies for the amateur review, but I acknowledge my lack of experience. I openly admit that I have no idea what a "purple" flowers aroma should be. Is it Heliotrope, that baby powder scent? Is it petunias just before dusk, sweet but not cloying fragrance? Is it more similar to lavender? That is definitely purple. I may not be able to relate to descriptors due to geographical location and the native flora present in my neck of the woods.
Would someone be able to point me towards the "purple" flowers aroma so often mentioned in Oudh oils.
Thank you in advance for your time.
