Malinau Maliki - Habzoud

I know they are about a thousand miles apart geographically and products of what must be very different terroirs, but this one from Habz initially reminded me of FP’s Malay Ultimé, at least in terms of its broad profile. It has a minty-eucalyptus opening with a medicinal undertone, leading me to imagine what traditional shamanic decoctions might smell like. These impressions mingle with comforting notes of old but freshly-polished wooden furniture, together with a waft of petroleum (like someone spilled a little while filling up their car). A slight booziness and palm sugar sweetness envelope the ensemble. I don’t like describing oud as ‘woody’ for the same reason I don’t like describing wine as ‘grapey’ - it just seems like a tautology - but here, different wood facets really characterise the oil.

I’ll go out on a limb and say that it feels like a young oil with the potential to mature into a wonderful ateeq. One to stash away?

You nailed how I felt about it, yet it has its own twang!

Araiansu - Yusa

You wake up at a fancy resort in Southeast Asia someplace. Since, by some miracle, you managed to stay out of the bar last night, you have enough energy to hit the gym and get breakfast. Strolling into the buffet, you resist the magnetic pull of the grill counter with its eggs and fried meats. You start the day instead with a ginger wellness shot, a tropical fruit plate and a virgin mojito. You step out and walk through the hotel grounds to a nearby wooded area. The air here is damper. The scent of lush jungle greenery fills your nostrils, mingling with the perfume of unseen blossoms and banana plants in bloom.

So, yeah. This oil makes me feel like I’m on vacation somewhere nice - what’s not to enjoy? 🙃 It’s a mixture of Cambodi, Malay and Sri Lankan. It has that signature Yusa tropicality to it. Glad I got it.

Love your reviews. Vendors should hire you to write their marketing copy. 😂

Oriscent Kyara Koutan

Never had I guessed that this oil is Burmese. It has the same DNA as Royal Kinam 1 and 2, Nha Trang LTD, Kyara LTD, etc.

More green and camphoraceous in the opening, there is a slight petrichor-earthy nuance that sometimes comes across as roasted coffee beans, and a steamed milk with cocoa powder facet that becomes more apparent in cold weather. The sweetest of these oils and the most unique. When I say sweet, I mean a green-milky type of sweetness, no honey or berries.

Hey, @Olfactory Nomad , you know you can get Enlightenment for around $140 a box, right? You don't have to spend $800!

I can get a box of 15 off eBay for $72US free shipping. That's the best I've managed to find the premium line for. (Trust me, I've looked). Free shipping. Shoyeido international won't ship to Australia that I can find or, if they do the shipping is waaay too much. It's been a while since I've looked at their website so maybe that's changed but I doubt it. The best I can do is find someone already here who stocks it.

Today is my third time wearing it and I am honestly still lost for words.

It sings a wonderful complex song that is hard to describe. It’s thick, piercing and packs a punch with strong psychoactive effect. It put me in a relaxed and meditative state. Subjectively, and in my minds eye, I initially perceived red and blue berries with some soft floral undertones.

There’s sweetness, bitterness and medicinal with cooling qualities. Later, I perceived balanced cherry like sweetness with smooth milky aspects. There is this deep woody incense, and it all cumulatively captures aspects of high end Nha Trang and Viet woods that I have been blessed to experience. In my humble opinion, this is where more of brother Mehmet’s distillation alchemy is revealed.

In the end though, (my) words cannot not do this justice and really, the oil is just worn and allowed to reveal its song.

Thank you brother @mesOUD for another gem.

I am bummed that I missed this one, every description sounds like nirvana.

Sila is smelling soooooo gooood right now and still quite strongseveral hours after swiping. Now I am getting these crackling, focused bittersweet resin notes and a note like heated ambergris crumbs. Not smokey or combusted in the least - but somehow with a sense of heated resins. Really smells dignified and exotic.
Mmmmm, I am waiting for mine to arrive, probably at least 10 days, but sounds well worth the wait.

I think that is a very fine oil.

If you don't happen to get ANDALAS I will bring some with me when I get to New Lebanon...
Kind offer, thank you. I don't take anything for granted, but I do anticipate having a sample of that of my own! 🙂

What is everyone swiping or spraying today? I don’t do much on sundays besides rest and smell my oils. Going with Havva from MesOud today. It’s giving me a relaxing fruity vibe, almost like being in a beach in Puerto Rico or something. Would love to know what anyone else who’s tried it gets from it.

EO Cambodi Caramel (2025)

This one hit with that very fruity jammy Thai hit, but not cloyingly sweet and then it simmered down into kind of a spicy pepper or cinnamon… kind of a brown/orange hue flavor if I had to pick a color.

I can’t quite put my finger on the notes, but it reminds me of other Cambodians - I’d say this one has no off notes nothing too terribly sour or overly fermented smelling like some of the other Cambodis I’ve tried.

No barn.

Now I’m about 45 minutes in and it’s fading a little bit here - honestly perhaps quite quickly. It might be because I’m going nose blind cause I keep returning to my wrist. Or that it’s not wild?

I actually really like this one and I think it’s a great value. This is just my first impression 45 minutes in, but I’m saying this was a good buy with the 15% coupon.

I’m gonna dock one star because Ensar is not an artistian who i can actually interact with as I continue my ongoing rant on that topic 😂
