Thank you very much for the feedback Martin, means a lot especially coming from someone with your collection. Will be released shortly along with the Sinking Ceylonindeed a great oil and a true gem! My Philippines collection is limited, but so far it is the best. I like it even more than Ensars Pinoy.
Here is a thought, just a thought. Introduce her to some literature about Helichrysum Italicum and how it aids cell turnover, maintains youthful skin.....Get her a small bottle of the essential oil and carrier oil so she can mix and use it. It does have an aroma similar to sun dried hay. Maybe she will begin to associate the aroma with potential youthfulness and subliminally associate your Oudh oil aroma with perpetual youthfulness, irresistible to most ladies.🥰I received a sample of...
EO Meghalaya 1977
...in a recent order and really like how this has a resin-rich Oud-i-ness with menthol or camphor... definitely a bit of hay but no "animalistic" (to me, at least) spectrum.
However - on that note, I've noticed my wife will report that even the non-barn ouds I have remind her of "cow patties". I try to see if she can piece together the difference but I think she has them so closely grouped together that when she smells hay, she smells cow poop. What can I do? The nice thing about Ouds to me is - unlike perfumes - they can be more private (unless someone comes into your close range radius). So I can enjoy my own aura.
Not cheap, I see. I think I can get 4-5 more wearings out of this sample. Will keep reporting.
I suggest Cosica or Croatia as origin for the Helichrysum Italicum. Here is a thought, just a thought. Wow. Idea planted! She is pretty snobby on non-Korean beauty treatments although I have gotten her to love Aveda products. That company is worth its own thread! Sidebar: For you mycology / psychonauts, Dennis McKenna (Terence’s brother) moved to Minnesota to join Aveda in 1993 and worked there for 8 years! Trivia…
Tonight is Merauke (rare excavated) from @Al Shareef Oudh - unsure if this is the same oil currently for sale. A very pleasant light fruit with … darn I can’t find the word to describe the underlying middle aroma but not quite lacquer… frustrated because I’ve smelled this before in life and cannot place it. Not quite aged parchment.

Edit: I found it. It’s the smell of kind of like new leather.
If you refered to the 'Hermitage' oil I've reviewed - it is indeed one of the most expensive they have (minding that it is 1995 incense-grade Tigerwood); BUT -Boy they ask prices 🙈
575€/g is heavy
Sure they arent buying ensars oil and just add 300€ per gram 😂😂😂
you inspired me to apply a swipe of the Trangquil. I've been smelling a bunch of other things (rose oils) and right now smelled in contrast with those I get a note that reminds me almost of saffron. Really delicious oud!Hello Salam Dear Ouddicts
Today I swiped side by side :
MesOud TrangQuil and Vietking
MesOud Vietking is still one of my favorite Viet oil ever !!
The top notes are sharp and clear !
Bitter sweet Bigarreau Cherry 🍒
Licorice, Anise , Cinnamon
Powdery!
TrangQuil is More like Griottes cherry 🍒
Acidic !
Lighter licorice and Anise , much more honey !! Juicy!
And medicinal!
Side by side these two oils are completely different!
TrangQuil is medicine for the Soul …
It remind me the gases used in the mask for anesthesia before hospital operation…
It is literally mind numbing effect !
No auxiliary notes found in other Nha Trang oils I have …
Clean and clear kind of acidic cherry Anise/Licorice candy with light honeyed vanilla compare to Vietking which is more powdery bittersweet…
I smell my hand and I get a complex medicinal mineral note clear like crystal …
Honey melon and creamy buttery light Blue berries
If I was thinking Vietking was Kinamic , then TrangQuil is straight Kinam in terms of effect and bouquets of notes …
This is now the closest experience with shoyeido kakuwari wild Viet Kyara on subitisme at very low temp 70 to 80 degrees…
More than Vietking, more than GENT .
I am trying to keep calm but this is my honest opinion…
TrangQuil got a medicinal note that make me feel crazy ! Addicted !
It is like pure medicine for the soul !
I can’t get enough and the note that I am crazy about, is enough light to be attractive and enough strong to be numbing …
This oil growing all along the day and becoming stronger and more powerful !
This mystical oil make me feel happy and sad cuz I will miss it when I will finish my sample …
My brain already asking for more 😵💫
Be careful, Ouddict isn’t a Word game 😅
nice review… this is really a nice rich complex oil for sureMesOud....Sila, SOUL of India
Yesterday I received both Sila and ANDALAS from MesOud, for which I am grateful!
The tough decision was which to experience first, and I decided upon Sila, SOUL of India.
I left the house to fully experience the oil without interference from odors in the home - cooking spices, olive oils, dog kennel disinfectants, laundry soaps, budding plants, cats and dogs.....etc.
Showered in unscented, diluted LDAO and went down the road to the Land Trust Forest, walked 2 miles in from the road which is in a rural area.
No homes nearby, no vehicular traffic, no residential trash cans, and no burning of brush allowed.
There is a gravel fire road cut through the forest, many bedrock outcrops, natural springs with small brooks and water seeping out of stone here. Trees, ferns, earth and stone. Clean spot for the experience.
I have read so many descriptions about aromas of Oudh oil from India that I was tentative, but I had a desire to know for myself, so my journey with Sila began......
Applied a dot of Sila to each hand and meandered around a bit. The first breath provided a sensation of both comfort and allure with the scent of Musk Mallow petals when they are first brought inside, sort of creamy with a slight bitterness akin to Paregoric (medicine from 60's), yet with the deep medicinal scent tempered by the light, breathy floral. Early Kentucky Bluegrass growth undertones creeping in and out, seemed to be mixed with a linalool-ethanol crispness cutting through. There seemed to be a back and forth with the soothing, soft creamy aroma being pierced ever so slightly with a cool airy crispness, an ethereal sensation. Maybe some alpha-pinene lurking in the background from my location... A flirty blackberry cane scent catching my attention, definitely from Sila.
I detect an aroma reminiscent of the soils in the Vuelto Abaya area of Cuba where a type of tobacco is grown, and whiffs the tobacco leaves themselves, but not the odor of the top leaves of the plants, rather the mellow midlevel leaves of the tobacco with their sweet grass and barely detectable, yet definitely present puffs of nutmeg and cinnamon amongst the more prevalent scent of this soil, a drier, earthy soil aroma, not a wet forest floor. No decay, just rich organic island soils, coupled with the occasional smell of a Black Forest green honey, not too sweet but blooming tree florals. Feels like sitting next to someone who rolled tobacco leaves all day under a canopy in the sun, showered then joined up to chat softly, relaxed, smiling.
After at least 90 minutes of goofing off in the forest I perceive the light, soft resin cloud envelope me, a gentle resin with a background of porous rocks, maybe lava rocks, that slowly release the aroma of incense burned upon them a short while ago. Pines with the dryness of the mid autumn dirt foundation settle in, again this could be location related.
Sila is astonishingly layered, both at once and over time. I would label this oil as a sensual experience, definitely one that invites repetition from me. Stunning.
Many thanks again to MesOud.
