WowMesOud....Sila, SOUL of India
Yesterday I received both Sila and ANDALAS from MesOud, for which I am grateful!
The tough decision was which to experience first, and I decided upon Sila, SOUL of India.
I left the house to fully experience the oil without interference from odors in the home - cooking spices, olive oils, dog kennel disinfectants, laundry soaps, budding plants, cats and dogs.....etc.
Showered in unscented, diluted LDAO and went down the road to the Land Trust Forest, walked 2 miles in from the road which is in a rural area.
No homes nearby, no vehicular traffic, no residential trash cans, and no burning of brush allowed.
There is a gravel fire road cut through the forest, many bedrock outcrops, natural springs with small brooks and water seeping out of stone here. Trees, ferns, earth and stone. Clean spot for the experience.
I have read so many descriptions about aromas of Oudh oil from India that I was tentative, but I had a desire to know for myself, so my journey with Sila began......
Applied a dot of Sila to each hand and meandered around a bit. The first breath provided a sensation of both comfort and allure with the scent of Musk Mallow petals when they are first brought inside, sort of creamy with a slight bitterness akin to Paregoric (medicine from 60's), yet with the deep medicinal scent tempered by the light, breathy floral. Early Kentucky Bluegrass growth undertones creeping in and out, seemed to be mixed with a linalool-ethanol crispness cutting through. There seemed to be a back and forth with the soothing, soft creamy aroma being pierced ever so slightly with a cool airy crispness, an ethereal sensation. Maybe some alpha-pinene lurking in the background from my location... A flirty blackberry cane scent catching my attention, definitely from Sila.
I detect an aroma reminiscent of the soils in the Vuelto Abaya area of Cuba where a type of tobacco is grown, and whiffs the tobacco leaves themselves, but not the odor of the top leaves of the plants, rather the mellow midlevel leaves of the tobacco with their sweet grass and barely detectable, yet definitely present puffs of nutmeg and cinnamon amongst the more prevalent scent of this soil, a drier, earthy soil aroma, not a wet forest floor. No decay, just rich organic island soils, coupled with the occasional smell of a Black Forest green honey, not too sweet but blooming tree florals. Feels like sitting next to someone who rolled tobacco leaves all day under a canopy in the sun, showered then joined up to chat softly, relaxed, smiling.
After at least 90 minutes of goofing off in the forest I perceive the light, soft resin cloud envelope me, a gentle resin with a background of porous rocks, maybe lava rocks, that slowly release the aroma of incense burned upon them a short while ago. Pines with the dryness of the mid autumn dirt foundation settle in, again this could be location related.
Sila is astonishingly layered, both at once and over time. I would label this oil as a sensual experience, definitely one that invites repetition from me. Stunning.
Many thanks again to MesOud.
I made every effort to remove myself from competing aromas and dive in for the experience.Wow
What a description ❤️
It’s my pleasureI made every effort to remove myself from competing aromas and dive in for the experience.
I have read about all sorts of nasty smells in Oudh oil from India.
This was a beautiful, transcendental experience. Thank you again
Wow interesting dear Brother, you inspired me to apply a swipe of the Trangquil. I've been smelling a bunch of other things (rose oils) and right now smelled in contrast with those I get a note that reminds me almost of saffron. Really delicious oud!
Amazing review. You're definitely getting the hang of this. I think you can now absolutely call yourself an Ouddict.MesOud....Sila, SOUL of India

Zamarad 3 for me today. Beautiful. It's continuing to develop a deep musk that I love. Shares some minor oceanic resemblance to santal&oud's Natuna.
Awe..thank you for the vote of confidence. All I can do is relate aromas to my own experiences. I wish all understood the hurdles for me to use descriptive phrases. After 40 years of scientific publication in peer reviewed journals attempts at describing the subjective rather than the objective stats is not an easy task. I feel like a first grader on the bus with high school kids just staring at me.Amazing review. You're definitely getting the hang of this. I think you can now absolutely call yourself an Ouddict.
Glad to hear there's another artisan who respects the art of blending and wearing rather than the other factors. It’s my pleasure
Your dedication and respect for the work being done are my true payment and reward.
Thank you very much.
Can't repeat enough that odors bring about or cause memories!Wedding day so I had to make the difficult choice on what to wear, after pondering for days before I decided to go with TOL Kodai Ka. A beautiful oil worthy of the memory bonding 🙂
I have one I'm nurturing. I find myself using this one in very rare occasions involving meditationSultani Blue by SULAYM (@SULAYM)
One of the things I love about SULAYM is that Ahmed's descriptions are so well written, and I find them to be completely spot-on. This oud does truly evolve into a "blue" scent, and does seem like a co-distillation of Malay/Burmi/Maroke. I really enjoy the incense note. Get some while you still can! I have 3 of these "bullet vials" full, and still want more...😄
Wow what an endorsement !!!! Congratulations!!!!Wedding day so I had to make the difficult choice on what to wear, after pondering for days before I decided to go with TOL Kodai Ka. A beautiful oil worthy of the memory bonding 🙂
I understand. Been using them very sparingly as well. A swipe has been reduced to a microscopic dab per session 🤣I have one I'm nurturing. I find myself using this one in very rare occasions involving meditation
Congrats! This day is worthy of some mega-swipes!Wedding day so I had to make the difficult choice on what to wear, after pondering for days before I decided to go with TOL Kodai Ka. A beautiful oil worthy of the memory bonding 🙂
