Ahhhh I’m going to try that! I have all four of these oils and some were a bit harsh on day 1 how long did you leave the cap off ?
Just over night. I've done this a couple of times over winter. Has definitely made them easier to wear without blowing your head off lol.

Yes, small amounts are surly the way to go.
I agree. I used to swipe these oils and never realized that I was going nose blind to them. Ever since I started micro-dotting I seem to get more out of the profile and realized how strong they are. Now I'm afraid I'll never go through 1 gram of any of my oils lol.

But every now and then, I go with a bang when the "coke crave" is at its peak. Or sometimes, I accidentally spill 0.5 grams of King K Nam all over me and smell amazing for days.

This and the Koh Kong are good daily wears without the guilt. They were pretty harsh when they first arrived but both have settled down now with a bit of age and keeping the cap off.
Totally agree! I have the KK and Burma as well. It's amazing how good they are at the price they are at. No guilt associated at all, and seems to be my go to when I can’t make a decision with the more expensive ones in my collection.

How do you feel about the Vietnam one now?

"China Exclusive" - an old Oriscent oil that I enjoy a swipe of from time to time. A good example of what I think of as a "peaty" oil which I assume is a result of some fermentation technique as I have smelled this facet in oils both wild and plantation but it is not universal. This one has a nice full aroma and appealing development and is well mature at this point. It is from Hainan, not sure what species because the ferment is pretty heavy. I get more of a crassna development than sinensis, but those fermented Lao sinensis oils share
something with this so maybe it was a long soak sinensis? Who knows???

Majid Iterji - Cambodi Kampot Oud oil

It's a dark brown Oud that opens with smoky sweetness, tobacco, and slight leather. The heart has woodyness and amber, the bottom notes are very sweet, warm, enveloping, evolving and custard-like. It has minimal barn and good spice-fruityness harmony. A very good Oud.

Ha..I actually sent that one back. It was too much for me and I would never have used it.

Siamlou - SamiterkiW. Had to get more of this stunning oil. It's a Thai that sits firmly alongside Mai Kritsana - Habzoud. That's what I'm getting from it anyway. While missing the Habz "signature" It carries the same diesel creamy almond honey note. Great projection with just a dot. Definitely worth a try. Like Mai Kritsana or even Oud Boran, there is no guessing this is a Thai oud.

AlMokhlif Oud - Luxury Kalimantan Malinnau

It’s brown amber colored Oud. The opening is a bit medicinal and herby, woody, and exotic. In the heart, I’m getting notes of cardamom. There a sweetness in the Oud but it feels muted. I’ve had Malinau before and they share the same scent profile. In the bottom I’m getting vanilla, mud, and mineral salts. All things considered, this is an awesome Oud. And I feel lucky to get such quality oils at these prices.

MesOud's Merauke, 2023, wild. From when he was selling oils not distilled by himself.
I like this. It's pretty typical for the region - what @Rai Munir would call a "boot factory" 😅 which I understand - very high piercing sharp leathered note but not like a rugged old leather as you'd get in a Hindi, but more clean....synthetic by comarison, I guess (not calling the oil synthetic btw)
It's good but lacks the complexity of other Merauke oils that I've tried. Al Hashimi's Meroke Sultani (I think, was released in '24) serves as a benchmark here, and Habz' Maroke Qadeem also stands tall.
They just have something a little more - this region was never a favourite of mine as most of the oils smell similar to this Mesoud one, but some of the outliers have shown me that they can be tremendous
Habzoud's. Maroke Qadeem is one of my favorites - complex in both horizontal and vertical dimensions, continually evolving. Mmmm...

AlMokhlif Oud - Cambodi Special

The Oud features a dark black with reddish tinge color. It is by all account a great Oud. It’s thick but not jammy. I put 2 fat swipes.

It’s a deep regal and resinous oil with a richly fermented core. It features dark syrupy sweetness. It has a velvety opening with dried fruits and wood. Followed by a leathery and creamy base tinged with wet earth. The scent is majestic and opulent. Glad I got a good deal on this. AlMokhlif Oud does a weekly (usually Tuesdays or Wednesdays, but sometime randomly too) special offer showcasing some things that are on sale and this was one of them.

I highly recommend trying them out if you already haven’t.

IMesOud... I have only purchased oils distilled by him as I am arriving to the Oudh oil journey late...
However, I will blind buy any oil distilled by MesOud based upon experience with his distillations. I think of him as a "Wood Whisperer"

Your words of praise truly honored me.

Al Faniliau - SamiterkiW. A Borneo oil from the Malinau region. Really gourmand. Almonds and diesel initially but this quickly changes to vanilla and biscuits. Kind of like muesli biscuits brought together with maple syrup. Very moreish. Also has great projection with just a dot. Edit..I'm going to add that I definitely get purple notes from this oil as well.

EO Kyara LTD 2.0
EO Oud Royale 1982
EO Tigerwood 1995
EO Sultan Ahmet OG
Swipe from each on different locations. Comparing KLTD 2.0 to RK 2.0 I think I prefer the latter as it much full spectrum. TW1995 is on the line between TWR & TW1990 but it's more refined and sweeter with tamarind note very clear. Sultan Ahmet is a class by itself, really like it, it has the PNG profile done perfect. OR1982 is top tier oil, any oud lover should try it.
