There's no shortage of ouds that retain the rainforest, rainy mud, and Earth profile I've found.

I enjoy showing up to work early as well so I can take off early. I did it so much that they changed early arrival to eight. Now if I come earlier its not worth it because its not counted. I hope we follow the emirate of Sharjah in having a 4 day week. Or Dubai’s 4 and 1/2 days on. Is it good for business? I’m not sure. But it must be great for peace of mind for the worker.
I don't know your working position, but I have found that most businesses prefer that I am NOT around because I always submit requests that cost significant cash outlay....Environmental Remediation and Permitting, and all those monitoring wells!
Thus, those in charge are happiest when I am not around when they are in the office. Odd because it doesn't change the outcome, but it is a psychological effect.
Take it for what it is worth.....

something similar happened to us in Abudhabi as well. We are asked to be in office between 0800 to 0830 and can not leave before 1600. It used to be pretty flexible before, therefore we did not putting extra hours or so.

Big swipe of a strong toppy distilled CK. the top notes do not connect with my idea of kinam, and the first 10 minutes need to be ignored. After that, holy moly! Sublime, and the heavier swipe enabled me to perceive qualitatively different facets that I have not noticed when doing the tiny dabs. Nice rich throaty kinamic mids... this is one of about eight different distilled kinams that I have, kind of 2nd tier due to top notes.

I am in search of the perfect 10 minute top note to modify that initial oddness and then get out of the way once that has passed... ideally something true to the spirit of or that reinforces the appealing aspects of the plantation sinensis profile, but I could also imagine some contrasting ingredient creating tension and an accord that is off in some other direction, and then transitions to the beautiful middle and dry down of the oud.

A small dot of Zakir Gafur (Ahom World) Sultani Qadeem today... A real treat! A smooth classic hindi profile, dried fruits, sweet barn, leather, varnish, antique woods, hay, cinnamon, spiced chocolate, a slight vanillic facet, wisps of incense... A beautiful oil with strong persistence, and long lasting middle phase.

As a collector with a very limited budget, it is truly a treat that this oil is available at such a price point (100-120$/g). It truly excites me to continue to try more!

It's great when a lower priced oil hits all the marks.

I work in Quality Assurance for a parking services company. Before that I was a retail banker. Long story how I switched.

Oud Ladawwan - Khao Yai 1987

A very sticky, icky, jammy, and resinous Oud. No, stickiness does not denote quality. But I’m assessing purely on the feel, scent and texture. This one is so much like EO’s Oud Extraordinaire minus the sweetness. I love it. But it’s hard to wear in public being as sticky as it is.

I was traveling and away! But a few things:

1) I've been warming up to Priveé's Maharaja of Tripura, which first came across as rather peppery to my nose and now has a nice medicinal quality instead.
2) Want to give a shoutout to Royal Bengal Ouds. I've been buying from Ish for a few years now and have never been disappointed, although I can also now say that with more experience smelling a range of ouds, I can appreciate what he's offering a lot better. I got Taif Rose eo from him and among the samples, the Wild Tarakan and upcoming Bangaladesh oud are stunners. I also like his take on Thai oils, which have that same perga/honey/incense quality I love and pick up on in Habzoud's Mai Kritsana.

Nice..I love that about Habz's oils as well. I'll check it out.

Nha Trang KO - Yusa

Arby's may have the meats but Yusa Aromatics have the sinensis oils on lockdown! I've been on a Nha Trang kick lately and Nha Trang KO is my favorite of the bunch. The bitter note that runs through it perfectly balances the typical fruity/creamy base.

I still remember the day when it clicked in my head/nose how sinensis oils differed from crassnas. Maybe it was easy for everyone else but I'm not ashamed to say it took a little time for me. I've since tried to track down as many high quality sinensis oils that I can. Yusa has made that incredibly easy. I think one of the best educations I had on the difference between a new gen and a higher temp distillation was with the Fragrant Harbour and Hong Kong oils. They are clearly different and both clearly stellar.

So if you are looking for curly fries I would hit up Arby's but if you are looking for sinensis oils I would reccomend Yusa.

MesOud......Sila, Soul of India

I love Sila in the evening or when I can't sleep. Initially wafts up as "fatty" florals reminescent of the cathedral overloaded with Easter Lilies on a cool spring morning. The subtle, new greeness of springtime lurking everywhere coupled with a fatty, lactone laden floral aroma drifting and settling upon me.
The green aroma miraculously matures from sprigs and shoots into trees, terpenes as if walking through early winter, dry mountain evergreens, maybe Idaho Blue spruce, a very high vibrational energy evergreen.
The rush of evergreens settles down into mature woody resinous scents with an ever so slight mineral tinge. The woody aroma is complete, rounded and hints of Maine woods Balsam needles that were used to stuff pillows for a cabin in the woods accompany a lasting light incense aroma deeply ingrained within everything inside of that cabin. Comforting, introspective, complex yet simple. Nature's relaxant.

Thank you for MesOud and his ability to coax out the true nature of such a glorious resource.

Huge swipe from my almost shamefully huge stock of Malay Ultimé from Faizal Privée - this stands tall with the best oils I’ve owned

I have one bottle set away and plan to forget about it for a decade 🙂
Thanks @Faizal_p
Very welcome Steve.
There's some new temptation dropping soon... Leyte, Sri Lankan and antique Hong Kong!

Kyara de Kalbar - EO

Blue, soft, and floral.

This has received a lot of attention recently, so I wanted to revisit it. Definitely, a favorite even though it costs an arm and a leg. Artisanal oud definitely can be an addiction that's tough on one's wallet.

It's amazing how little you need when it comes to high quality oils or wood.

Unintentionally globbed some Zakir Gafur Smokey Leather Oud today. It is a 2018 crassna distilled in Thailand but grown in Cambodia.

This is a tremendously thick, red oil... sticky! This oil speaks softly, never yelling, sitting pleasantly close to the skin while providing beautiful wafts of bubbling resins. Smokey and leathery as the name suggests but accompanied by truly beautiful smooth woody aromas, a dry tobacco facet and a cooling meditative sensation.

A persistent oil, with a generous mid phase, this oil is young but has grown mintier over my ownership of it, I even feel some gourmand notes developing in the back. I feel this oil differently each time and it is a delight, I could wear it every day.

Oud Stories - Hindi Nagaland

I love Nagaland ouds! Leathery and animalic, fruity and smoky, slightly spicy and plummy. What’s not to like? Gorgeous Oud.

Couldn't resist another swipe and a megadose of this one brought forth an absolutely delightful melange of blue and purple fruit tones accompanied by a mentholic cooling wave that emerged in the mid phase... wow!
