Sounds beautiful.Batalat Oud - Hindi Forest SQ
I’m on a wild ride with ouds today!
It starts off with slight barn and hay. But then plum and cherries permeate the scent. Then leathery and smoky spice follow. Very sumptuous.
Brother..I need to ask. Have you counted or do you know how many ouds are in your collection? I'm blown away daily by you talking about a totally different oil. Sometimes multiple oils a day. When did you start collecting?Batalat Oud - Hindi Forest SQ

Thanks for your honest question. I started my journey on January 1st 2025 (go figure) after smelling Oud off a colleague which reminded me of my grandfather. Then it began. After a manual count I have approximately 156 oil/attars/mukhallats with 80% being ouds. I think I’ve finished around 20. I can’t stop it. I can only hope to contain it. A lot of the fact I have a lot is that I live in a region where these ouds and attars are “at an arm’s reach” - readily available and plenty. This isn't including the Oud chips, perfumes and (incense).Brother..I need to ask. Have you counted or do you know how many ouds are in your collection? Penetration pricing.Hey, @mobyus, I'm just less expensive than many because I'm relatively new, at least on ouddict, and it was suggested to me that I keep my blends affordable. I purchase much of my materials from local vendors, and they're not inexpensive for you or me (though they are VERY generous with weights!).

This forum has helped me a lot with learning and buying from the artisans on here. I get a foreign perspective and I’ve benefitted a lot from that.
Also, I’m gobsmacked by some of the prices on rare oils - and shocked at the amount some people with more leverage have at their disposal to spend. I mean Ultra high like $3000 for 2.5 grams of Oud/attars/perfume/incense.
I’m up to maybe 50 so far and started early this year — so thank you for helping me feel normal. I’m also gonna print out this post and hide it in my storage area in case my wife decides to take count someday 😂Wow! You are very fortunate.🙏

Nice!Habzoud - Mai Kritsana
@Olfactory Nomad Following your path, though I’m on the other side of the equator and entering Fall weather. I couldn’t agree more!
Nice to see you back!Garo Jing today!
I love taking break and coming back to ouds. Also, after a long round of sinus infections, antibiotics, and eventually nasal rinses, I think my sinuses are at their best ever, as I've been picking up on a lot of top notes that felt muted before.
Garo Jing is still unapologetic and barny but there's also a not so pleasant swampy note I've smelled in some oils along with a very nice, umami tea note. It's a nice oil especially for the price. My bed sheets always smell like it for days after.
