I hope to see more carefully executed distillations of cultivated kinam, I suspect the best is yet to come. Big difference between the choice ones and the very bland or cloying linear ones
I just remembered that I've come across the blue Biro pen ink note before. It's in Bilquis 3 - AlHindOud. It wasn't there initially but I used that particular bottle for a brown ambergris maceration and this addition brought out that "ink" note for me.

The Oud Trader - Wild Aged 20+ Years West Malaysian, Belantara

The Oud smells cool, crisp, clean, and slightly nutty. I’m getting slight notes of natural rubber, camphor, green vegetal accents of a damp rainforest, and an unmistakable woody resinous accent. Also, present is slight leather and floral undertones. The nuttiness initially felt turns into a smoked amber quality. This oud feels really simple yet is complicated under the hood. Absolutely beautiful Oud.

MesOUD—Sinan.

Microcarpa distillation. Most recent distillation so very young oil. Like most of his work, absolutely insane top notes—exceedingly complex, full of esters of fruit that some how belie fresh cut tropical timbers, vanilla, kinam, and a very interesting almost illusory safrole/root beer note. If it weren’t so expensive, I would want to eat it.

About 1.5 h in and now a fine, addictive resin-low-heat chip smoke quality has built with a pleasing sweetness that is balanced above a refreshing green freshness. The whole experience is a mystical perfume with nothing standing too tall. Probably more aptly named “insan” as it is a crazy oil.

Insan 😂
A good name
Enjoy it man

I've checked the Ensar's site thoroughly - there is no oil call 'RKv2' (also not in the archive)'; what is it actually?
Hey hey! Its the second version released of Royal Kinam, but its a hainan distillation (claimed 50% kinam) compared to the OG which was a hongkong distillation. Heres the archive of the page: https://web.archive.org/web/20201027131356/https://ensaroud.com/product/royal-kinam-2.0/1093.

Theyre both great oils. Never burnt red kinam but it has some fumes of what I would expect it would smell like. Belows a pic of my vials :Inlove: one the left is v1 the right is v2

Got a mail drop from Kinana today, so without further ado. I'm a bit out of practice on my review game so bear with me.

Borneo Sultan
This came as a free sample, and ooh baby, if this is the level we can expect from Kinana the rest of the mail drop is going to be bonkers. (Not that I have any shortage of expectations, of course.) Off the little stick, a hint of medicinal bitterness and lots of green. On the skin, first nose opens more of the bitterness before transitioning into a cherry heartwood note with hints of smoke and leather, but with a sweetness. Hookah smoke? After a while it settles into more of the wood and resin smell with what might be a hint of lime? Florals? Roses? And now my nose is glued to my arm. Nice steady drydown. Jasmine in there? Oh, there's the camphor but it's not aggressive at all.

Overall a lovely oil. The sample has done its job. I need some of this.

The Oud Trader - Cardamom Vlountains (Unreleased)

A really clean oud scent. It's relatively light. I'm not sure if this is the right way to put it, but it felt wearable. The scent isn't intense — everything comes through quietly, yet with a real sense of depth. There's a fruity sweetness to it, and a green, almost tropical-rainforest kind of feeling. There's also a slight rubbery note, but it's clean, without any tar or bitterness. It has a real sense of volume, which I really love. It's a scent that puts your mind at ease. When I breathe it in deeply, it gives me chills.

The similarities between Sulaym's Sidr 11 and Oudique's Hainan Juzi are undeniable however, there are nuances in the latter that standout quite clearly to me and I think make it my preference. Soft, white honey florals are what carry this though but with Hainan Juzi I get bursts of citrus that clamber for my attention. Sidr 11 is lovely to wear if you just want to smell nice (nothing wrong with that). Hainan Juzi will keep you engaged and has a noticable progression. Lasts for many, many hours. Great value for money.

The mail drop from Kinana continues!

Mekong
Another sample. This one opens with hay, clean barnyard and funk. Definitely a fermented oil. The website description says it has a cheesy smell, and I think that's quite accurate. The barn opens up to reveal a lot more dairy, at one point bringing to mind either a baking piece of camembert or gorgonzola. Not bad, necessarily, but potent. I can smell the wood and sweetness under it but it probably needs time to dry down before it becomes more approachable. Unfortunately, I had gotten some on my chin and it got too much for me. I had to go wash it off before the drydown finished. Though after washing it, I did detect more of the woods and a sweet vanilla note. A little powderiness in there as well.

If you're a funk person, this is probably right up your alley. The post-drydown is probably quite nice based on the hints I got, but you have to appreciate the funk to get there.

Salam alaikum, hello Ouddict family

Hindi Honey by @SamiterkiW

A pure marvel for lovers of honeyed profiles. Upon opening, Hindi Honey hits hard with a beautiful note of hazelnut that pairs perfectly with the honey, creating the immediate impression of having pressed a beehive between your hands: an explosion of raw honey and beeswax with striking realism.

The profile then rounds out with superb touches of sweet almond for an incredibly suave and enveloping finish. But what makes it truly magical is that vibrant, energizing note that comes in to boost the whole composition. A rich, round texture that remains resolutely lively. A real favorite!

The Oud Trader's 'Cardamon Mountains (Unreleased)' south-western Cambodi- from the gifted sample:
Most notable trait of this oil of savory 'persuasion' is that there is a Fusion of the facets - a multi-layered Unison rather than 'bouquet' Polyphony - one, the most dominant 'voice, wrapps around another, subtler one, and so on one nested within another - from the stronger to the subtler - keeping the single-themed general mood
- like a nesting doll (akin russian 'matryoshka')- with the most exterior as the most pronounced contributor to the Savory impression, weighty, quite dense and impactful 'Brown' humm -
In the opening 'punch' - the exterior, largest 'doll' of Bitter Cacao-turned-into-smoking-fumes envelops the slightly smaller Rubbery Resin; underneath which lies further less domineering 'Fermented Funk' - which in turn not clearly articulated as the typical 'barnyard' but rather wider, more complex and less constrained 'Dairy Farm' - country-side ambience - a mixture of the Funks - the Animalic (the hair - the fur really - of sheep and goat, the fecal notes - wrapped in hay and straw, the freshly cured, still meaty Leather) and the Lactic (the milk, the Sour Cream and the ripening pungent cheeses); these two funks are fused in their own united humming of 'peasant life'.

Then - ever more subtle under the above mentioned layers - and more as a persistent undertone rather than a clear separate facet - flows the thread of ripe and overripe sour-sweet, orange-yellow Fruits - Papayas, Mangoes, Apricots, Persimmons- also rather as a general impression than the individually specific ones.

As the essence diffuses (it is quite radiant - which is well noticed when stepping out and then coming back to the room where the swipe took place), the Bitter Cacao dissipates, the scent becomes more transparent, the dense Resin turns vaporous and fuzzy, the diminishing Fermented Funk takes a back seat (with fecalic tone turning into aged Leather and the Sour Dairy - into Creamy Haze), while the fruity tone becomes just a supporting fiber in the background - all continuing their evolution as the same-tuned savory Unison:

From the early 'Heart' phase on - the scent smoothes out and becomes an atmospheric 'Vibe' of airy powdery Resin - as the leading overall wrapping, with occasional and surprising glints of funky, animalic-bordering Florals! - like Narcissus and very mature musky Roses and Lilies, mingling with sour fruity splashes, and then the layer of cresolic Varnish - drying on the carved fresh - sappy-piney - Wood, along with more mature yet still lively bitter Woodiness, nestled in the middle of all of it.

While continuing in the drydown, the Unison of all the notes - without being lost under the lead of Resin, is then seasoned with soft touches of Nutmeg and Rosin (colophony) - that ambery-smoky-turpentiney hardened and powdered sap used by weightlifters and gymnasts for the grip (also by ballet dancers on the tips of the point shoes - for the same purpose), and by violinists on the bows- for the grip on the strings - all adding to the somewhat serious - 'professional space', savory-bitter, rich but contained - 'disciplined' scent that while initially (and up close) stirrs with the Funk, eventually quietens the Mind in its diffused ambience.

The Oud Trader - Wild Aged 6+ Years Tarakan (sample)

Having acquired a nice dark color from the aging, this beauty gives off ozonic notes. Fresh, vegetal, woody, and slightly leathery. It also has a rock mineral quality about it. Very beautiful.
