Kinana Scents - Bhutan Atiq (sample)

Ok, this one is different in an amazing way. This oud combines different styles like Hindi and Southeast Asian varieties. It's so unique. It has this cocoa scent coupled with black pepper. Also present are some strong nutty and earthy notes. It has the slightest itsy bitsy hint of barn that I just love! It works so well. I would say the barn comprises 3-5% of the overall scent. I've never had an oil quite like this. I tried finding it on the website and couldn’t find it. If you do find it then this would be a really special one-of-a-kind oil in your collection.

Kelantan ( unreleased ) AlHindOud. Due to inexperience with an oil from this region in particular I had incorrectly, originally guessed this as a co-distill of maybe some kind of Indo oil. It opens with that lovely slightly minty earthiness of a Merauke. Dank jungle floor etc except, a nice purple note is also present. alongside cola or rootbeer. It's a bit of wild ride to be honest. Taking me in all sorts of directions that I was unfamiliar with. Unable to figure out which direction I was facing, brother Anas pointed me in the direction of Malaysia. Insanely potent and a deep red colour. I've read about that purple note in top shelf Malay's before but up till now had not experienced it. A very worthy addition to my collection.
I actually swiped this yesterday as well. So, so good. I have a few SQ oils that all seem to share a similar DNA/ high quality signature - this oil could easily be in that line up to my nose. Stunning.

Kinana Scents - Borneo Sultan 2019

After having sampled this, I had to get a bottle. It's uniquely Indonesian in its DNA but it's different. I'm getting an acidic, sparkly, effervescent top. Kind of like tangerine and a dewy floral freshness.

The middle is where it begins to show the Indonesian DNA where I get green, herbal notes, and the aroma of wet forest floor. I feel like I'm in the middle of a jungle harvesting the wood for this oud. There are nice spicy and peppery notes.

Finally, the base is very woody but smooth. It has this sweet incense-like smokiness that complements the top very well. A divine oud.
