I have 5 oils from Mr Bakshi from 2015 and they are superb oils of the type what you call :Poop: without :Poop: hindis and easily qualified as top oils and I can see easily how people can pay for this type of oils above 500$ per 3 ml. bottles
Mr Bakshi is the great Master of :Poop: without :Poop: hindis.
I agree, his oils are top notch when it comes to :Poop: without :Poop: but i have a couple that has some very nice Hindi funk, just have to be patient with his oils,it take some time to settle and distiller note to vanish.

Can’t relate to the part: “nothing fruity”. Not doubting your nose or impressions at all. Just sharing what my nose picks up: quite a bit fruity: dried apricots and peaches like trat oils: yusuf etc.

As soon as I wrote that I started to wonder why I wrote it. I agree with you there is dried fruit. I meant to say therr is not that cloying sweetness like I have smelled in some Cambodis.

Started my day with Aroha Kyaku 2011-12 on the right and Hainan Arabi on the left.......,
Total fumigation😱:Barefoot:😕
I was drowning in oud fumes:Inlove:

Aroha Kyaku is aging nicely, addicting drydown.

Where does he sell his ouds?

Shah Jahan by IO an oil cooked by @Abdullah on his recent trek of Assam. There are 3 Hindis that gave me this feeling Q2, Hindustan 1 and now Shah Jahan, whats the feeling im reffering to "it cant get any better than this" total bliss. The oil opens with a vaperous top note kind of like nothing i have smelt before, i would describe it as incensy sweet smell of indian sweets reffered to as mithai. There is no Barn or funk here the oil is so crystal clean with no off putting notes or sharpness (pretty suprising for a young oil). Then comes through the array of spices cinamon, cardamon, nutmeg damn it smells so much like a spicy sweet cardoman drenched in fudge (i sound like @Ammar) the sweetness is just beautiful and got my nose glued to my hand. Now the lovely smell of that sweet honey with a slight hint of hay comes through and the classical Hindi dry down so pristine and elegant. This is hands down the best oil from IO with AD1 being knocked off the top spot for me. I also have a chip of the wood used which is very high grade and genuine wild, yes genuine wild Hindi which isnt easy to find. I will heat this later and carry on studying this oil as it will only get better with time, well done guys great job :Inlove:

Morning swipe
People’s Sultan
I call it “The Exotic Sultan”

It’s too easy to recognize the Trat and immediately dismiss this oil as a typical sweet Trat oil. But that won’t do for an oudhead like me. With a clear mind and a fresh nose (and I do mean fresh because yesterday’s Wallas just knocked me out😕), People’s Sultan displays such an exotic profile, one that would mesmerize a newb.

I own this one and wanted to believe the hype. Very disappointed in it. Typical cultivated Trat profile. Not satisfying to me at all. People's Ceylon I also feel the same way about. Very average oil.

Loved Taigo Senkoh. I sampled it first then ordered a bottle. I personally classify this kind of oil as "contemporary oud". It is fresh, has a strong tea note, some bitterness and is very long lasting on both my skin and clothings. In my opinion it has some white florals as well. You can comfortably wear it in summer. The color of the oil is very light and transparent. Very contemporary!

This oil takes Malaysian agarwood to a perfume extreme. I prefer to let the opening ethereality settle down, then I relish the heart to drydown.

A side note for ouducation sake...
High expectations in an oil can lead to disappointments....what a bummer:Thumbsdown:
Once upon a time, I had high expectations with a certain vendor, then the first oil I tried from that vendor left me very disappointed. Shattered😡.
My point.....
For proper appreciation of any oil, one should clear one’s mind, and be guided with one’s nose. Sillage, longevity, strength, and preference are secondary,,,searching for it’s true profile is the key.
After the appreciation exercise, then you can apply your filters of preference, and other factors.

I have always stated in the forums, many times over, that oud oil appreciation is a fine art. It takes a while to learn. But I also realize that oud oils have other purposes and meanings. It’s not all about appreciation, that’s just one facet. I personally enjoy the many facets of oud oil.

I have tried a sample of Taigo Senkoh and was disappointed with it too.
Ensar has made so many wonderful ouds. Maybe I just have higher expectations for his oils.

Trat itself is unimpressive. Even most of Thai oils lack Oudy flare.

RBO's Trat has some unique, perfumey, and lasting notes. No fish market odour, and edible oil factory smell. And I ahve a Thai from a private distiller, that is classic and classical. Otherwise, majority of Thai oils end in weird and uncanny smell.

This oil is certainly not for beginners 🙁,
but a wonderful treat for seasoned noses and collectors.
Starts strong like a distillation from crude oil, but settles to a heavy dose of resin-full oudiness.

@AZsmell ,
Your group disappointment based on what exactly? Have you even tried oils from other vendors except AA and some of EO? Your build-up oud "experience" based on what?

Also between the only vendors that you know you think Kooh Kood is fine with you and higher quality (and priced higher) than People's Sultan?

People's Sultan was launched at $165 you don't get such quality with this price easily...
