I don’t know about the People’s Sultan, but I really enjoy People’s Ceylon. I’m almost halfway through my bottle already.

Taigo Senkoh is less impressive for me, although I do enjoy the bitter tea note which adds a nice backbone to the otherwise more expected Thai honey tones. Even those have a certain nice pacifying quality, and I suppose that makes it a Senkoh.

Kohl Kood is an oil I very much enjoy but reaction to it seems polarized. As @Oudamberlove says it requires some meditation and an open mind I think.

Cosmopolitan view about Oud is near to impossible. So, at least 90 % of the members orient views after wearing artisanl vendors known here. Of course, what else to be done as 90 % members favour it, and unknowingly stay away from other distillers.

Second, we have extremely high expectations from these respected and lovable vendors. Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown. So do they listen/ read bitter remarks as well. But appreciation, rather love, is very much dominant.

The day I tried Ceylon Royale, I put aside Sigriya. Of course, the former one is Royale, and the latter is of not that quality. Same is true to the reviews about certain oils when some members say: 'It is not up to the scratch.' Great expectations!

The day I wore Syed's Ascent, I forgot there was Maroke Noir too. Of course, the latter one lacks everything that Syed's Ascent is blessed with. Price difference is less while gap in aroma is abnormal for me. This is one aspect. I could also say that Syed's Ascent is like Maroke Noir. But it will not meet the purpose of the Forum. 'What is what' is or should be our concern, I think.

My respected and dearest fellows may disagree, but I am stick to it that one top class Oud is enough, if felt in depth and with the totality of self, to review other oils.

Whenever I read such words that some oil from some vendor is not that good. I assume that the reference is some high grade Oud. Justified. Otherwise, I have to write that the oils by Swiss Arabia are excellent for the price.

Reference is always 'something unique', and that reference gives birth to high expectations. Last, the Forums have created hype for some specific vendors as well. We, the members, did so. So, when we have some oil a little bit below the standard they themselves have set, of course, reviews will be disappointing for them. It is not altruism or humanitarianism to make oud cheap again. Oud is meant to be of high quality. 24/7 we keep thinking and posting about quality, then quality is what is reviewed by the members. So far as notes are concerned, at least it is not my headache. As I am of the view I don't want to smell black pepper, cinnamon, chocolate in Oud. If I have to enjoy black pepper, I will buy black pepper, and if chocolate, then Kit Kat is there. Though I love white chocolate.

PS: JUST RECEIVED THE PACKEGE FROM SYED TAHA (AA). OF COURSE HINDUSTAN 1 IS THERE. Talk to you later. PEACE! This is the first Oud oil in my life that I wholeheartedly waited for.

Thanks a lot @Taha for such a quick service. Highly appreciable.

ooooooh nice! can NOT wait to read your impressions. pls share the very first raw experience as well as how you see it un-fold.

Assam Kinam i really enjoy this oil...does anyone know why the Ensar legends section is not showing any of the old oils on the website?

@AZsmell ,
Your group disappointment based on what exactly? Have you even tried oils from other vendors except AA and some of EO? Your build-up oud "experience" based on what?

Also between the only vendors that you know you think Kooh Kood is fine with you and higher quality (and priced higher) than People's Sultan?

People's Sultan was launched at $165 you don't get such quality with this price easily...

You are right. My 14 years of being on Basenotes and 9 years of buying and sampling oud from multiple vendors (more than just Oriscent,Ensar Oud and Agar Aura) are not enough.
My disappointment was based on the product description vs my subjective experience of this oud vs the numerous other oils I have tried.
Since this is obviously not enough I also evaluate my oud by a PET scan on my brain while wearing the oud to measure dopamine release in pleasure centers in the brain.
Now may I ask you about your qualifications for questioning my opinion?

Well, respected Rasoul, the package has been received, but I am at the village for certain chores. Will be back within a couple of days, and my first assignment is to hug the package.

Your words about this OUD keep echoing in the air. Whetting my craving and curiosity.

today its Dhul Q. it is a treacle thick dark liquid with a smell to match, lots of smoke, burnt wood and dark cherry. a bit too heavy for my newbie nose.
Hey friend joe is it new dhul q offered now on the website, and could u compare with aroha kyaku.thnx

syed ascent last night for a walk on the beach:
peaty like an islay malt. petrified. damp forest floor note. upon application my core temperature drops a few degrees. an oil that takes me to high altitude mountains. one shouldn't allowed to swipe and drive with this stuff on... 😉

this morning: aso rubaie
this oil and kinam rouge remain the most complex oils in my possession. horziantally and vertically speaking. each and every time i approach either of these two oils i see something new or a different facet of it sticks out first before making way for the other notes to come forth. leather yes. medicinal bitterness yes. zing of indonasian esp sumatra like notes, absolutely. dried flowers, potpuri, spices, hint of barn, hay, cigar lounge, fruit leather.... this is a hulk of an oil but a polite and gentle hulk.

@F4R1dOux I don't mind the smoke it is actually very authentic smell, I don't like the smoke note in perfumes as there is a synthetic feel to it, the smoke in Dhul Q smells very real, I think its the burnt wood that my nose doesn't like. keep in mind I am very new to oud oil and I am still getting to know many of the different nuances. So far my preferences lean towards lighter ouds although I very much like Zachariyya and Hainan arabi.

@hassam mac the Dhul Q I have came as a sample last week with a purchase from EO. I have not tried aroha kyaku and I am a bit hesitant to give any opinions due to my inexperienced nose:Notworthy: so any comments I make should be taken with that in mind...

Respected Joe, I am with you about the note- burnt wood- which makes the oil somewhat funky. Moreover, I always consider this note 'fake and artificial' whatever that oud oil is.

But shocking thing is your liking Zakariyya😕.

No need to hesitate. You have olfactory just like others. Relating smoke note with synthetic feel is interesting.

Personaly I love the wood smoke note but I share your point with burnt wood smell, it has to be very a small facet of the oud for me.
But smoke smell :Inlove:... I'm wearing an oud wich really mimics an oud wood burning charcoal style.

Once I applied a swype of it in my office, a co worker used to African incense entered and said : it smells really nice incense here ( she was like 6 meters from me 😱😱😱)
