Feel oud bio Chan 3 the most Borneo smelling Thai oil I’ve encountered. Wish I could have bought a tola or two of that one.

This might seem rude, but I am really curious: Why do people post names of ouds here with no reviews or comments or reflections? No offense, just curious about what you all get out of seeing people list the names of ouds in their collections / sharing those in your collections over and over again... why is this essentially the most popular kind of thread at all the oud groups? You all keep on doing what makes you happy of course, but it is odd to me - what do you all get out of reading these names?

I can say from personal experience that sometimes you wear an Oud and either you don’t like it (so you don’t say anything about it), or it’s already well-known (so elaboration isn’t necessary).

Yesterday I tried out a lot of Azman’s oils that my friend owns. Including his woods, Azman has some exceptional stuff. Specifically, the oils that really stood out were the Cambodi, the Nagaland, the “Ultra Premium” Sri Lankan, and the Hainan.

Valid point .. I guess the idea is to share what we wear and most of the time either on a personal DM or On the thread a member asks for a feedback or reveiw of what we are wearing .... its convenient this way ...

@Mr.P I am one of those people🙂
I will satiate part of your curiosity as I can’t speak for other fellow ouddicts who do likewise:

In my case, it started at Basenotes.
There I would see these type of posts, just the name of the fragrance fellow members were wearing, and nothing else. My first impression was that I thought it was cool😎, people sharing their daily wear, and in the “proper thread” e.g. “What are you wearing today”, and at Ouddict, “Oud of the day/night”.

So ever since then, I got used to it, and in my case, I may post my swipe three or four times in a day, because it’s on my days off from work that I get to binge on oud. Some people I know party hardy on their days off with booze, but I oud:Whistling:

I realize that these type of posts can be misinterpreted by some, but that can happen in any thread, which has happened so many times, and has sparked epic debates.

There is a Reviews thread that will elaborate more on a particular oil, in fact, some Oud of the Day posts belong in the Oud Review thread.

I can see how someone new to the Ouddict forum may benefit from these posts, they can identify someone who has such an oil that they may have been curious about, and direct some questions to them concerning that oil. As for the repitition, new members don’t always read all the past postings. ...........but in my case, I don’t post those one-shots for these reasons, and I don’t consider what people extract out of my posts(<<<get out of people seeing the names of oud in my collection>>>)......I simply feel like sharing my daily swipes, and I must say, it also makes me feel like part of the “Family” in this forum, and I enjoy reading what other people are wearing daily also.

I am also aware that others may not be interested in such posts, like honestly, I am not a big fan of Mukhallat of the day, because I don’t swipe blends daily, and some threads that get too scientific, because I don’t see myself conducting any distillations, although I read through them anyhow because being a part of this forum is a part of my daily life. I live... Eat... Breathe... all this stuff, it is one of my many passions, that has stuck with me and has endured, while other passions have drifted away.

For example... I just got up from bed and made coffee, now I’m writing this post, but in the back of my head I’m thinking, “hurry up Curt!”, “it’s time to light some incense!”(my morning smoke if you will😀). So as Aloeswood beckons, I need to heed her call.

Catch ya later!

I get it when there’s a brief review or comment - those have helped me find new ouds as well. Anyway keep on keeping on.

You know what I’m still waiting for? To encounter someone else’s oud of the day “in the wild”. Still haven’t caught a whiff of oud from another random human, ever. If I ever pass a stranger reeking of oud I will have a hard time not giving them a hug...

Bolisat Lao PDR superior. This is one zesty soaked Lao oud. Very challenging in some ways but truly outstanding intensity and silage and a great presentation of the Lao funk.

I too, have not come across oud in the wild here in Cali. Just goes to show that it’s more than just Niche here in the “west”.

Playing Mall Rat again today.
This time I’m armed with RBO WC Koh Kong.
It should fare well against the occasional wafts of synthetics.

I straight LOVE this oil,
from the fruity boozey funk,
to the lactic oudy woodiness.

I sent a shout out to Ish to see if his current stock of this oil is still the same batch.

Update: according to Ish, the Wild Classic Koh Kong is still the same batch.

Hi Mr.P, I see the OOTD thread as sharing an experience, a way of connecting with other oud heads (many of us are otherwise geographically isolated). Some of us are not very good at describing oils but still want to be a part of the community. Sometimes I will add a very short description (I am not good at long stories etc) but often it is a well known oil so no point.. It is interesting to me to see which oils are preferred by others and often prompts me to wear an particular oil. I am sure there are other reasons people use this thread and I guess if it bothers you then you don't have to read it, or you can always ask the person to describe the oil.

IO Nha Trang Ultima - Kinamic kiss..

Does any one have both this and EO Nha Trang LTD?. I don't have mine any more but it would be interesting to do a side by side and review it.. Admittedly I haven't spent too much time with these but in terms of differences which there must be, without doing a side by side, it would take a nose far more refined than mine could ever aspire to be to detect any...
