battle of the budget ouds...

right wrist zaza zen...

left wrist oud ehab....

kinda similar in a base way...

zaza zen is a warm oudy jammy cherry cinnamon cambodi crassna vibe... very easy going, safe, inviting, no off notes, excellent beginners oud, great value.. sillage and longevity are somewhat lacking....

oud ehab is more complex, not as sweet, has a jungly oceanic base with a sweet oudy core (core smells almost like zaza zen) with uplifting woody vaporous sri lankan highlights.... much better sillage, slighty better longevity...

i prefer the oud ehab, but at half the price the zaza zen is winner...

great for times when you wanna slather up but dont want to bust into the treasure chest...

I did a side by side
Oud Ehab and Czar Ceylon

A lot of shared facets....
till the oil progresses towards dry down

Oud Ehab veers more towards Thai a la Oud Extraordinarie
whereas Czar Ceylon steers towards the Sri Lanka and Walla Patta components.

After washing my hands, I could still smell the Czar Ceylon, but the Oud Ehab practically disappeared.

Gave Zaza Zen a try as well. Perfume built on top of Thai resin, again, a la Oud Extraordinaire.

I “prefer” Czar Ceylon, but that’s just me, the fella that sent me samples preferred ZazaZen.

Tried another five oils, I’m very ouded today, but I didn’t go Full Sproaty, more like sipped oud all day instead of a massive application.

In the end, I ordered a back up bottle of Aroha Kush, even though it is quiet like a mouse, to me it is a baby Senkoh Grade oil. Super tidy, focused scent, Cambodi to the bone, albeit, a new generation style Cambodi. Pretty Candy, with Cambodi resin at dry down, top note-ish without being over the top or distillation still note-ish, weak oil but I love it.

Right now I have Kakaya going (like I said, its like I’m sipping oud all day long, from morning to night). I am being very observant with this oil.
C’mon....Malaysian and Cambodi, distilled in a close to oleoresin manner. It deserves study, and I know it is likely to go through changes as it ages, I want to experience the complex notes at each stage. I thought it was going to have great projection, but I misinterpreted what “fragrantly juicy” meant. Nonetheless, I do like this oil so far.

Need a few more into the mix to reach my level! 😀

Tonight - it's actually been ages since I've done this,
hmm, Habz' Maroke, can't recall its name or be bothered to go check 😛
Al Hashimi's Adnan, Ateeq and Trad.
Imperial Oud's Viet Zephyr & Ceylone Royale. Wow, amazing oils. I've not worn the Viet in a while and forgot how great it is.

Sproaty, I think this gentleman is on your level.
P.S check that bakhoor stand out, made for this purpose.
Arabs are truly masters....
