RBO Indonesian Sumatran Mareoke, This oud is unique, I cannot compare it to any other oud, nor can I describe it. Ish sold me this oud and also sent me a bottle of Thai Trat 2014 in case I didnt like it. I do kinda, but it is a very strange oud.

Right on - I felt the same way. It's not something I reach for too often (my sample that is). It reminds me of something very GREEN. Almost vetivery in a way on the top notes. I can tell it's HQ, but it's kept me away from trying other Mareoke's because the DNA isn't my favorite. Now that your saying it's unusual for a Mareoke, I may explore further some other oils in this region.

Maroke in general are some of my favorite profiles, Maroke 2004 from Ensar is my favorite oud, I also have (m)Aroke Rossi from EO, which is quite nice, and I recently bought an extra tola of Czar Ceylon which has some of the same topnotes as the 2 i mention above, though it isnt a maroke.

Have you smelled the old “purple papua” from the oriscent days? Steel / steam distilled maroke - pretty vibrant and intense maroke oil that was very edgy at first but has settle a bit into something pretty dignified.

no, my interest in oud came well after the oriscent days...

EO Czar Ceylon on beard + few sprays of ALD Oud Luwak

What's the thought on Oud Royale 2004 (Papua) anyone tried it yet? @Rasoul Salehi ?

I will in a couple days. I’ll report back. I am most interested to see how that OR85/ER85 drydown similarity presents itself. Is it present from first sniff or a scent until later stages. Is it a shadow of that note or same strength? Shades of it lower or higher... it will be a fun study nonetheless and I love wearing green oils anyways. One of the very few oil types I actually wear as a scent. All other oud are purely for meditation practice and critical sniffing.

Can’t wait to hear your review of OR2004

For today a side-by-side of
Oud Ehab and Czar Ceylon

Very similar openings
with OE displaying a bit of sweet floral Thai
.......when the top gives way,
OE leans toward the Thai component
while CC shows the PNG SL components
......further down, some quieting with CC
while OE goes full onslaught with jammy
resinous Thai, which continues the same way
till both slowly fade during dry down.

I like being able to perceive the SL notes in CC
especially when I am reminded of Suriranka Senkoh, but the OE has a pretty perfume appeal with the Thai notes.

So it comes down to preference
I like both
but by no means are they a “Must Buy”

I enjoy the both too and have noted the similarities as well. My only qualm is the duration. Seems like they are more for play. If I was leaving my house, I wouldn't wear them (although I've been known to bring a bottle along for the ride of my day). Compare this to b3k, and I can swipe a completely dry stick on my hand and smell it for hours and hours. Just different grades is all I guess. I wore yusef yesterday and slathered it on. 3 hours later and nothing perceptible there. My sandalwoods last longer.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

Annam Kyara from Ameenah perfumes.
Reminds me of Borneo 3000 from EO

I love the Czar Ceylon top notes, my only gripe with it is that it does not have the lasting power of wild aged ouds. I bought a 3 gram bottle and liked it so much I bought another tola of it. My hope is that it will develop some lasting power as it ages through the years. If not, then that is ok too, I like the scent profile especially the top notes.

Bangladesh oud from oudh.co.uk

more barnyard, animalic notes in the top, the barnyardy ouds are starting to grow on me, once the barnyard dies down there are some very interesting notes...

Oudline malaysian super... outrageous peppery dense resinous oud oil. It’s aging better than the km super ateeq, in some ways.
