Dear Rai
Sometimes I do repeated swipes, when I am trying to decide wether to get more oil. I’ve heard of back-up bottles, but when we’re talking economy oil, I wonder if I should get a back-up Tola:Roflmao::Roflmao:

I could just mention the source (Pichet Manoratana of Alkhalis oud), but I chose to say economical oil, you guessed it, because it is not costly. One more reason why I chose to call it an economical oil, is because I don’t want to mislead fellow ouddicts into wanting to purchase an oil, only to get disappointed.
My oud buddy Todd, has sent me numerous oil samples that he got from Pichet, of the whole bunch, I was compelled to get only three types, the J1 (reminds me of Taha’s L’essentiel Cambodgien), the Laos (a cousin of Taha’s Dao), and the Kelantan (which to me smells Thai, but then again I remember ASO Khulood). There were other interesting ones like J7 (perfumey), J40 (less soak with middle funk), and J50 (a funk bomb!), but I’ll pass on those, because at the end of the day, it’s not about amassing tons of oils both low grade or high grade, but about swiping oils that you preferentially like.

I paid $155 for the Laos, and $155 for the Kelantan, and since it was over $300, that gets you free Dhl shipping. I recommend that one contacts him first, before purchasing, because stock availability and pricing is scattered over his website, Amazon, and Ebay.

Btw, I just corresponded with Mr. Bakshi today. He clarified that M199 is Khudee, and that K200 is Imani. I just scored a bottle of Imani, it is already in the USA with his daughter, so I should receive it soon.

Pichet has some of the most diverse 'economic' oils out there. As mentioned above, some are very good and others are not for me. They make a great subject for blends or by themselves and can produce some synergistic effects. I would never attempt to do this with some of the less 'economic' oils ,as a mistake would be far more painful. I have also used them in blends many times with great results for myself and others. Again, less risk, greater ability to try something you normally would not attempt to blend. I prefer his J7, J1, Laos and J40 but that is just what I like. So today is none of the above ; Oud Ehab and Qazah (Habzoud).

Today...
Feel Oud Tawau al Awwal
This Sabah oil sure has a good oudiness,
it practically battles the other notes.
Slow progression from that characteristic muskiness of Sabah oils, to blurry fruity florals, to a Malaysian likeness.

I get this blurry fruity floral in many oils,
where there is a fruity and floral...and sometimes tree resin smell, but one that is not dominatingly fruits and flowers, and difficult to identify which fruit or flower I am smelling.

American Oud on the right arm - his marketing today worked (although I'm still on the fence about buying....)

Jambi on the left arm - this is from "the oud artist", kindly provided to me by Jay for my ouddication - this is a fantastic indo oil that has it all really. Spicey, leathery, masculine, and gets sweet in the dry down but not dull - really nice oil that I wish I had more of....

EO Naga-Layan - this is not a show stopper or an oil which makes u go WOW...

It's a decent everyday Oud... specially for someone who is new to Oud it could be a decent starting point...

I would ideally be using this to make Attar in future or an oud blend.

True! Excluding two oils, the rest of organic oils are average Oud oils. Naga Layyen emitted Naga shade but for two to three minutes, and then it was Cambodi B with Zaza Zen's excessive Thai sweetness that seems to be a light version of Oud Yusuf that itself is an attar.

Yes, blending will do. I have mixed NL and Assam Leather and two drops of Incenso di Assam 198. Of course one drop of Musk Maceration is a must.

Brother Munir your quote Oud Yusuf is an Attar and not an Organic Oud is a big statement and really broke my heart... Oud Yusuf is the reason why I started my Oud journey.....

Ceylon Royale II - Like a much deeper, more robust, and crazier amount more incense version of Czar Ceylon (which I also love). But this is wicked good - a very "complete" oil. It has it all - a fabulous vaporous opening that still carries a lot of the incense upfront that you smell more readily later on in the drydown. Some leather and vanilla in the drydown - maybe this is a gyrinops based sri lankan oil? Not sure. Is anyone selling any of theirs? I've heard that this is similar in tone to Oud Royale Sri Lanka - can anyone 2nd that?

 I'm so sorry, Dan.
You know, I myself started my Oud journey into artisanal world from Oud Yusuf as I was literally enthralled by the description. Well, no disrespect to pure oils at all, but I could wear that only twice. It was that sweet an oil to me. Thank goodness, I acquired Archipelago in no time and I happily got citizenship of artisanal world.

Again, I am so sorry. By the way:
HOW COULD AN ANGEL BREAK YA HEART😉

EO People’s Sultan

Bright orange tangelo on a heated resinous New Guinea chip.

I compared PS to Satori Fusho the other week,
and side-by-side, the PS has a rounder medicinal New Guinea note, which is difficult to discern when “not” side-by-side, so it could be a result of one scent influencing the other:Geek:
