I’m noticing the same as well. Although the drydown seems to be showing some more complexities the more I wear it. I don’t always pick up black pepper but I’m getting subtle wafts of black pepper on top of that bitter Kinam like Greeness. One of my friends referred to this as a gourmand Oud and I kind of agree. It seems like the opening is really strong and then it thins out a bit only to gain some momentum towards the drydown.
I would have no idea how to explain what black pepper smells like...let alone know what it actually smells like....But I still like reading this thread...cause it must be one of the longest threads in history.... :Roflmao:

Do you have a pepper mill to grind peppercorns? Like table pepper and salt. Grind up some pepper and take a sniff - not too close though unless you wanna sneeze!

I think i need to get you to write my Oud descriptions!!!
Hahah that would be awesome! I just hope I’m doing these things justice.

Another way to discover how black pepper smells is to buy some high quality black pepper Absolute or essential oil. There’s a spicy mentholated quality to it. It’s really nice stuff! Very dry, peppery, and dark. Hahah it’s awesome! I train my nose with raw materials so I know what I’m smelling and can experience these things with my own understanding of perception. But also with an objective point of view as well.

Ma’u xanh La’(Green) from Olekfaktory.
Mild Camphor, a blast of Granny Smith Apple🍏, touch of bitters. No barn, animaic or lactic. Very interesting oil and unique.
Third day trying it and I like it more on the 3rd day. I will preserve it for it to age, I have a feeling it will get better. I will be spending more time to understand this oil.

Wearing my economic Laos oil that has a Chinese open but with Thai like profile finish. Spilt 1 drop as I was filling a bottle and decided to run with it! 1 drop of musk in Sandalwood to go with it😁
I find the Economic Laos very good for the price point. I like how fruity it is. I have had the oil sitting on my work desk for about 3 days and I get whiff(from closed bottle) of it while working and I enjoy that.

If you like this one, I would recommend Oud Yaseen. I know it's completely sold out and the vendor only has last 1ml but he is in a process of making more available in a few weeks.

OudBase - unreleased Sri Lankan marked as C1
~ 15 minutes
Cool breeze, menthol, sweet, uplifting, aquatic

~ 30 minutes
Grass, vetiver, earth, cooling, dewy

~ 1 hours
Green banana, Getting sweeter

~ 2 hours
Cool, resinous, incense, Walla Patta chip on gently heated charcoal(cream, butter)

Excellent quality. absolutely beautiful. suitable for summer but good for all seasons, occasions. very wearable in public. It has a similar sweetness of Khmer from Al Hashimi which is pristine sweet Cambodi. Also reminds me of OudBase's previous green sillani but this one is on steroid. Super potent.

I'd call it 'Mihiri Sulanga', meaning 'sweet wind' in Sinhala

Oh man this sounds superb. The creamy banana note sounds wonderful.

actually, I prefer this over Ceylon Nirvana. and in case if you don't know, this one is made with shavings and Ceylon Nirvana is made with incense grade oud chips. Ceylon Nirvana is superior in terms of quality but for some reason, this one scratches my Sri Lankan itch at the right point.

call me crazy. 🙄

Does Ceylon Nirvana have a similar green banana kind of vibe with the smooth creamy ness?

I left Parampara to age for few months as the top notes were very prominent. Today I opened the cap and applied a little bit and subhanallah. It has started to change character. becoming so smooth. The hidden notes are coming out of the veil. Loving it.

Suriranka 2.0 on the wrist.

Enjoy this one from the moment it’s applied. Wore al Hashimi Ibn Zamrak last night, thanks to a friend sending a small bit. Love that! Wish I had more of that one(or that Al Hashimi would do a sequel of equal quality). Really nice.

loving the Sri Lankan and Borneo ouds at the moment.

EO Satori Fusho Organic Oud.
I could not experience the citrus opening, I will try again but I love the sweet dry down. Smells like an Attar at dry down. I can’t recall but dry down smells like a perfume I have experienced.
First encounter with Satori Fusho.
