Royal Oud old batch
Is it indeed oudy?
Is it complex?
Is it region specific?
Does it smell natural?
No, no, no, and no.
It’s by Creed:Roflmao:

Just to compare,
I swiped Feeloud Tawau Al Awwal,
and when you smell the aromatics
from the resinated agarwood,
you know it’s natural,
the real deal🤗
I actually like Royal Oud. But cant justify the word “Oud” in the name 🙂

I couldn’t sleep so I went on a midnight walk under the moon and decided to wear Ghazal by Habzoud. I think fans of Tigerwood 90 and TWR will LOVE this oil.

It opens with freshly tanned calf skin supported by notes of black licorice, anise, mentholated pepper and a soft hint of fizzy greenness . TW90 was a bit astringent and chaotic in the opening and Ghazal feels as if you took out a lot of that intense chaos and smoothed it with a gorgeous black leather note followed by classically aged Oud. This isn’t the leather you’d find in a Hindi with strong barnyard notes either. There’s an oozing warmth in the core that feels like black ambergris and deer musk.

Camphor and musk slowly meld into an antique wooden heart. The wood is both warm and vintage but never turns into varnish or wood polish. Instead it smells like an old bookshelf that maybe sat next to a fireplace. Whisps of smoke permeate the books with a subtle nod to a smoldering ember.

Overall this an oil that feels like a bottomless pit of depth and something you don’t see too often. There’s no fruits, sweetness, honey or anything cheerful. This is somber and reflective. I never really think about settings to wear an oil but I’d imagine this would work well in a nice suit and and polished shoes.
I came back to read this after smelling Ghazal for the first time and it is because I like it. Smelled from the bottle so yet to experience it in true sense.

Got a sample of ejayb's Vietnamese oud oil. What an interesting oil - blue green color, rich warm sweet saturated top note. Very full. This oud compares to some oils like a large choir compares to a small ensemble. By this I mean i smell many harmonious notes simultaneously instead of a more focused, "narrow" scent. Clearly I lack the necessary adjectives here. Reminds me of AgarwoodIndonesia's first distillation (which I have on hand somewhere, his was wood from Aceh). Not sure exactly how similar these smell but they remind me of each other. If I had been presented this blind and asked to guess where from I think I would have guessed Aceh or Thailand. Not that it smelled like thai oud but there is a certain pungent note in the depths of this oil that I smell in Thai oils; and it also just has some of the same "gestalt" as that old Aceh oil.

First swipes has me thinking most of this oil's performance will be in the first couple of hours. Same was true with the oil it reminds me if, interestingly.

the dry down is very clean

This is a "specimen" oil I would say would be really worth collecting a sample of if you can get it. I feel like I can smell its newness (i don't mean a "still" note - but it isn't smelling oxidized like older oud often does). I'm tempted not to touch this sample for a month or two and let it oxidize a bit.

nice oil!

Hello Brother,

If I asked you, your preference between Ghazal and Al Janah/2, what would it be?

Al Janah 2. Lucky to experience it. Too early to say anything about it.

And Ghazal on the right!!!

🥳

Is the Al Janah 2 significantly more stronger and projecting than the first?

Truth be told, I still prefer my Hindi's with a little barn and punch to them rather than the more 'pristine clean' smelling oils which don't seem to awaken my senses quite as much.

Hello Brother,

If I asked you, your preference between Ghazal and Al Janah/2, what would it be?
I don’t think I prefer one over the other because they’re such different oils with different personalities.
If I’m wanting something leathery and old world smelling Ghazal fits that space. When I want sweet hay and golden honey I go for Aljanah 2! Both have their respective place on the same shelf.

Super hoi an, diluted to 10% in ethanol in a roller bottle. Ahhh!

EO Satori Fusho Organic Oud.
I could not experience the citrus opening, I will try again but I love the sweet dry down. Smells like an Attar at dry down. I can’t recall but dry down smells like a perfume I have experienced.
First encounter with Satori Fusho.
Since the time I wore Satori Fusho, I have been constantly trying to recall the similarity of the dry down of an Extract I have used before. When looking for my spray perfumes to wear today, I pulled out Tom Ford's Oud Wood. The dry down of Satori Fusho smells like Tom Ford Oud Wood.

Need to wait for Satori to dry down compare them, may be also side by side.

Satori Fusho is thick and concentrated, smells beautiful.

This is soooo nice. Nose 🍬

Trying to figure out what to call it. Higher end oils that arent even trying to pretend like they have strong base notes. But the top and mids are like ouddict crack. Its like this sweet smell through (like see through for noses) ringy clean coppery - feel in my throat almost. So odd. Like space candy type thing. I notice it in a bunch of top driven stuff. This has it, sultan mehmet has it, kyoryoku too.
