Here’s an excerpt from the EO description of Irian Erang:

“Mint infused oud smoke with pepper engulfed in a crisp powdery note of pollen bursting from behind sweet petrichor—all of it glazed with a fir cone basil-fresh green agarwood vapor chord that wonderfully mirrors the piercing green earthy oud smoke of a fine Port Moresby.”

I swiped Irian Erang, and as I’m enjoying the opening, I am also enjoying the excerpt above.
Moving past the opening, the Thai component starts creeping in but doesn’t overpower.

It doesn’t have the genie-in-a-bottle kick,
but it’s a fun oil.

Out of all the entry level Ensars, this was the one that spoke to me the most recently. I half regret not grabbing some.

Wearing an unreleased aged Borneo from Habzoud. Wow! This is amazing.

I’ll keep this brief with a few adjectives

clarity
Green Honey
Peppermint
Purple florals
Oakmoss
Ethereal

This is truly a remarkable oil. Smooth, crystal clean and clear yet deep and refreshing. Well balanced.

Al Hashimi - Hawa Jinko

I was pretty astonished that this was an oud the first time I tried it. Musky floral opening with a watery rose note dominating. Very smooth and clean. A coolness to it. Something more typically oudy quiet in the background. Gets creamy and there are moments in which I could imagine I’m wearing a rose/musk/oud/sandalwood attar (like SP Ensar Rose). At times a little too perfumey for what I look for in an oud, but I imagine some people are going to swoon over this. Very pretty and pleasant.

Ensar!s Oud Royale 04
Thicker then honey and stains anything it touches like shoe polish. Smells nice but faint, very faint.
put a splash of oudbase papua A on top and I’m totally satisfied and saturated with that banana guava

Habzoud - Aceh Ateeq

Confirms that the Aceh profile is possibly my favourite. This unreleased oil is noticeably deeper than others I’ve tried with a smoothness that steers it away from any potential rough edges while still maintaining the jungly, mentholated, and floral vibe. I’m going to be wearing this a lot.

Swiped an unmarked sample from Habzoud.

A flurry of volatility greeted me,
sweet lacquer laced green and fruits,
which I allowed to settle,
then it became woody
and slightly floral.

A young modern-method oil
that’s not oily,
revving high with low torque
and good mileage.

A pleasant juice which smells like
Indonesian sandalwood.
Revisited this sample,
I guess it is Hansa,
it has rounded off a bit,
and the floral is now up front.

I grew up with a Frangipani tree in our backyard,
this takes me back to those days.

It turns out that the sandalwood is
Indian and Sri Lankan, not Indonesian.

It’s straightforward Frangipani and Sandalwood.

I complete agree. The powdery woods, pine and incense drydown is amazing.

Swiped Olefaktory 2scents side by side
with the sample of the Royal Green batch.

The RG fades in an hour or so, but the 2scents
is still going 6 hours in. Could it be that the Kinam is acting as a fixative?
The kinam is not easy to perceive, but the overall scent is enjoyable, I will continue to swipe it as is, and not blended with another oil.

....also swiped AH Sabah Jinkoh
vaporous...mineral...medicinal...
floral-ish...sweet-ish...
peppery zest...oudy

Then it quickly develops an incensy vibe
and fruits...raspberries makes sense.

Then earthy and smoky-ish...
the fruit, oud, and mineral blooms.

Then it Hits-the-Mark!
Sabah oudiness, incense,
sweet fruit.
It continues in this lovely
stage for most of the ride.
I just wish it were louder at this point,
I have to move my swipe to my nose constantly.
But that’s me, I always prefer an oud to be loud,
and unfortunately, some artisanal endeavors
do not make it possible. So it does not detract from the oil entirely.

Just received Olefaktory’s 2 Scents

Kinam/Frankincense distillation.

This is really interesting because you know right off the bat this frank is different. There’s an interesting top note happening that’s hard to describe but it’s a different vibration from normal incense. You get intense citrus, vibrant sweet pine and bitter pepper note humming along in the background.

Like Oudamberlove says the Kinam isn’t really perceptible however there’s a depth here that I feel is a contribution from the Kinam.

If you’ve taken a big chunk of Hojari and put it on a subitism with a tiny little sliver of cultivated Kinam and gently heat it all up this captures a bit of that scent. The frankincense will always overpower the Kinam but you get a smooth creamyness with a citric floral tonality and I feel that’s present here.

This gets woodsy after awhile which is enjoyable. Overall as a stand-alone frankincense this is one of the better distillations I’ve ever smelled. It’s crystal clear, clean and pristine much like gently heating the resin just before it starts to char.

My very very first impression was that I thought to myself....what an Angelic scent,
so yes, I agree, a different frank indeed,
and I’m sure the kinam played an important
role in melding the profile.

Yesterday I wore Oud Tashi (2021) by Ahom Oud (aka Agarwood Assam) for the first time - a wild Bhutanese oil. These are the facets I detected from my first wearing:

Opening: Intense barnyard, wet & mouldy hay, sulphurous glance of civet & narcissus, tincture of deer musk innards (urinous bit), funky leather, overripe fruity facets found in some oils from border areas between Cambodia and Thailand, Laos (and some recenty sampled Sylhetis).

Heart: Dry hay, tobacco, spices (mace, kasuri methi, methi and other undetectables), deer musk grain maceration, indoles and hint of creamy quality of ylang ylang, common jasmine (not J sambac), & champaca, castoreum, wood (gamar, garjan, cedar and possibly sandalwood), very little toffee-like sweetness.

Trail: Malaysian oudiness (minus anything blue/oceanic), castoreum's trail-like smoky leather, resins (labdanum, myrrh CO2, styrax, amber sweetie, and more), deep earthy smell and slightly sweet musky smell.

Oud Tashi is quite intense in the opening. But not as intense as some Nagalands. Considering how multi-faceted this fresh oil already is (at later stages), it will get more oudy and resinous over time. I am very happy with my purchase.

Grandawood sinensis co2... it's kind of like "Royal kinam" extract. Clearly that same type of wood, nice fat sinensis scent.
