I bought a bottle from him on Etsy and had conversations recently, he is off grid. Let’s all send him positive vibrations!!!!

Glad to hear, I've messaged him a few times but I think it's almost a year now since we spoke. Glad to hear about him, he's a top guy.

Today I wore Yunan Vintage by Imperial Oud - a fantastic oil which develops quite barny in its drydown. Didn't last too long at about 6hrs but a very enjoyable ride.
Now I have a swipe of Habz' Ghazal which is blowing me away. Green fizzy incensy buzzing. A real top quality oil. I've bought several from Habz lately and they're all fantastic, I've just not been posting here.

I've actually gone stupidly flat-out with purchases lately (not sure if anyone remembers my topic from the start of the year when I was wondering "what are we chasing?") - I've fallen back into the "buy buy buy" mode again and need to slow down.
But saying that I've been enjoying receiving new smells - it's just I take a look at my collection of oils and then am a little shocked by the quantity that I own and how little I've worn the majority. Takes me years to finish off 0.2ml samples!!

Hopefully it's clear which containers have ouds / attars and which have spray samples...

And to think that I sold off a ton over the past 2 years.

Olefaktory - Wild Srik 2020
This one is distinctively different from other Sri Lankan oud oils I've smelt before.
to my nose, Sri Lankans usually have a lush green forest vibe but this one smells like a dry leafy, woody, slightly leathery.
it's grounding and calming.

to me, this one feels very 'designed'. that the distiller cooked the woods in a very specific way to get this specific scent profile.

Namar by Habz. The tiniest touch of barn initially but nothing compared to the Cambodi Ateeq (both oils are from Koh Kong) - a very clean distillation here. Hmm, I swiped it maybe an hour ago but am struggling to pick up the scent really, I need to move about and do some stuff, I'm sure that it'll pick up

Also sprayed EO1 (EDP) by Ensar this morning as my SOTD. I like but not love it - feels weirdly aenemic, I'd expect a far "richer" scent for some reason. It lasts for a good 12hrs tho

i love the opening fermentation notes in Cambodi Ateeq! Namar is such an interesting oil though I love them both. I think the heart of Namar is superb with all those dried fruits and honey. Almost reminded me of a Taha oil.

Some more Habz stuff - the organic Koh Kong Ateeq - rather barny at top which is a littttle off-putting - not too keen on that (had a similar experience with a Koh Kong oil I had from Ish @ Royal Bengal Ouds before - eventually sold that) but that goes within 20mins and leads into a very nice dense fruity smell which then transitions to an incensy, deep vibe. Very good!!

I also took a swipe of the Sultan Hojari blend - my 2nd wearing and am enjoying it more this time around. I put on a larger amount. Rather smokey! To be honest I'm not getting much of a frankincense vibe, in that lemony, bright, vibrant style but rather a dark incensy, yes, green aroma but also blackened by the smoke. Habz said it contains Indonesian oud, but from where I'm unsure. This is hitting the spot for me right now. Good stuff. I bought 3 oils from him recently and was sent 2 samples and all 5 are REALLY good.

All of Habz' oils that I've revisited lately (Malay/Borneo and Dukhan - which was a smokey Malaysian oil that's now ~2yrs old and tamed back, the smokiness is only very brief) have been on exceptional quality - rising up to perhaps one of my favourite vendors on here. Always very good wood too, his sinking Sri Lankan from 2019 is up there with my favourite smell ever, which Imperial Oud's Ceylon Royale captures about 2hrs into a wearing, and I'm lucky to still have some of the sinking Filipino woods from way back, which is fantastic (also Al Hashimi's sinking filinino wood released in 2018/2019 is up there too)
