I wish he would name his oils haha! The kalakassi I’m talking about was released earlier in the spring I think around February/March. I haven’t had the newest kalakassi though although I hear great things. I want to start naming these oils for myself though.

So far I have

Manipur Classic
Nagaland Classic
Mid grade Nagaland
Red Megalaya
Incense Grade Nagaland
Kalakassi Nagaland

if anything I should record the dates they were released that might be easier for reference against other oils of his?
That is so true. He should name the oils to make it easier for us.
This Kalakassi was sold labled Kalakassi Premium and the other one is Oud Incense.

He has a new Kalakassi releasing, stronger than Kalakassi Premium he mentions.
At the least naming Kalakassi I, II, II would be helpful🙂

Brother @Castingshadows and Brother @Visionary_ali, I spoke to brother Azim. His upcoming Ouds are Manipur and Nagaland. Which is not the same as Oud Incense. The Kalakassi and Oud Incense were his latest offerings last week. He is about to launch these two new ones.
I could not resist ordering 🤭
He sent me a sample of Manipur Kadeem 1 month ago. It didn't really project for me. The oil was good though. He actually is just reselling that one. He didn't distill that.
Yes. I've ordered his recent offerings as well. His recent release Garo Hills is quickly becoming my go to oud this month.

Thanks for sharing. I loved the Manipur Qadeem. He did mention that he was reselling it and did not distill it. It has been aged 4 years. For me the oil projects very well. Have you smelled the No Soak Bandarban from RBO or Bandarban Kalafol from Mellifluence? This very similar. Feels aged, very leathery animalic, like smelling a horse skin, or sanding next to a horse. And I love it. It would be great if you we to use this in blends.
I could not get my hands on the Garo Hills. Its was sold out. I am glad you are enjoying it.

MiskuAmber Sri Lanka on the left

I still can’t connect with the opening notes
Sand, lipstick, barny Hindi oud, but very quickly it changes, the barn is still there, then Sri Lanka oudiness kicks-in. Based on my last swipe, the barn never leaves, but it’s a long Walla Patta ride. Considering the price, I’m satisfied.

On my right, I wanted to see if Ensar’s
Melange Privee SQ makes sense,
so I layered some Feeloud Pa-Papua with
HOM Ward Ta’ifi, what I got is a vintage perfume
likeness, oozing with oudiness. I’d say that the combination does indeed make sense.

Wearing Kekasihku by Agar Aura today.

still not sure what to make of this one. I feel like I don’t know what I’m smelling... fruity honey bitter wood? I actually can’t get a grasp on it. I love Brunei Oud but maybe this is my first Klampei species?

I've been wearing a lot of oud lately - swipe under my chin post-shower/moisturise for a morning yoga session, and taking 2-3 oils to work to test.
Today I have on the following,

Morning yoga: unreleased Habz Borneo oil. Very good, has a slight funk to the start and is quite different to what comes to mind for me when I think of Borneo - but it's from Kalimantan and I thiiiiink that becomes more "Malaysian" - malay classification can be tricky eh, with the split region? Perhaps it's better to define by wood?

now,
Habz - Al Jannah and Altahmsah
LMK - Yasuke

All 3 are great, I wasn't too keen on Altahmsah at first but it's ageing well and really comes to in its drydown. It's a co-distill of malay/borneo wood but as above, hard to know - but it does have the more typ"typical" Borneo notes of sweeted vanilic that I think of when I think Borneo.
Yasuke is super black/green swirling
Al Jannah is a bright golden ethereal type of smell. Good stuff

Ukupan Kaya by Agar Aura on one hand and Cuir Chypre by Agar Aura on the other.

These two do not go well together at all.

Ukupan Kaya is a green incensy Malaysian with some interesting fumey ouddyness in the opening. There’s a fun violet leaf note happening followed by bitter sweet florals and cola. I didn’t like this when I first received it but it smells totally different to my nose now. Terrenganu is a region I’m not totally familiar with but Taha says this exemplifies the region. Lots of woody resin, cola and florals.

Cuir Chypre is like Taha’s version of Sultan Leather Attar. It has a pronounced lavendar/rose/Oud combo that is dominated by a leathery barnyard opening with the camphor turned up to 11. This doesn’t really feel like a Chypre. There’s no bergamot or any perceivable oakmoss (could be from my sample oxidizing) but you can smell a beautiful ambergris up front and center. It almost smells like some sweaty deer musk is in the mix but that could be from the Oud itself. Once the barn settles this smells identical to Sultan Leather Attar. Maybe not identical but it’s close. It seems to be a more straightforward and stripped down SLA. I would be happy to see this return as a spray version.

Getting real wild today. Mailman dropped off Jamaal just now!

It’s interesting how both Ukupan Kaya and Jamaal exhibit musky qualities. Ukupan Kaya has a drydown reminiscent of the opening of Jamaal which I find oddly fascinating. Jamaal has the funk turned up just a bit with exciting spices like black pepper and cumin laced woodiness. I’m only 20 minutes into the wearing so I can’t comment more but I’m excited to see where this goes.

edit

this is much more fecal/musky than I anticipated. It seems that the musk is amplifying on my skin. LOTS of musk so far. Almost traditional Hindi territory now.

second edit

I think my expectations got in the way of this oil. For those who have tried this did you experience heavy barn notes? I get straight up animalic leather with slight cow pasture/wet hay vibes in the heart. I’m trying to hold out for something different but I can’t make it past the hour mark before scrubbing it off.
