Ordered two Al Hashimi oils (Kakaya and Lindaraja) and wearing Lindaraja today. Certainly an interesting oud. I only get very subtle fruits in the opening, no "strong hints of banana etc." as the description says. What I do get mainly tho is a very light cedar and pencil shavings vibe, almost reminiscent of Carbone de Balmain. The whole scent feels very cologne-like. Perfumy, easy and certainly nice. Unfortunately, as said often before, performance is very weak. Maybe the weakest oil I've ever tried. Almost completely vanishes within one hour from my skin. Even with the low price tag, I'm happy I only spend on the 1 gr, which will probably only last me for 5 wearings 😀

Next one is Kakaya and I have also received a sample of Algara. Looking forward trying those.
I’m lucky my skin holds oils very well. I get 6 hours of skintime with Lindaraja with incredible projection for about 4.

Wearing Umair Bhai’s Tripura Encens

I’m always enamored with his distilling style. Full spectrum but clean. Not new gen and not old school by any means but definitely amazing.

Tripura Encens has a gorgeous blast of incense and resins up top with florals, berries and tons of vapors. Lots of buzz with this oil. There’s a medicinal quality here that feels bitter but it’s backed by a green tea note that I’ve smelled in other Hindi’s.

The heart forms a green leather vibe that it’s indicative of other oils from far eastern India. But here it’s full of depth and complexity. About 2 hours in and there’s a lot of similarities with Bhramaputra but to me most oils of this caliber have similar nuances.

Tripura Encens is loaded with complexity. I’ll admit though while it’s an amazing oil it’s not much different from other oils in this style from the surrounding regions. What sets this oil apart is its ability to perform with amazing tenacity and finally its complexity creates an experience that you just can’t find very often these days. It’s like the peaks and valleys of India become extended. The florals are lifted, the leather is stretched out and smoothed over, the base notes are booming and the tops notes extended to the heavens. Brilliant!

My bed time swipe is EO Oud Mostafa (Karbi Anlong/China). I got into ouds 10 years ago in Riyadh, when a colleague there swiped some on me as a welcome at his home. I believe it must've been a classic quite heavy fermented Hindi oil. Hence, anything approximate to that profile triggers memories. Now, OM is definitely not an overpowering full barn cheese bomb. But there's definitely an opening punch to it. Enough for my wife to say "barn" and keep a distance (even tho we're both vaccinated! 😀), not enough for me tho to categorize this as a heavy fermented Hindi. Sour fruits, Haribo stuck-in-your-teeth wine gums, with the classic hints of leather and hay. Great performance. I'm wearing this, having a big smile on my face.

Tabeer’s Mysore

Imagine you’re burning Mysore with some sweet baked goods in the oven. This is that aroma. It’s stunning. Warm amber, amaretto, brown sugar, spices, incense, butter, cream.

This is beast mode Mysore. A tiny swipe lasted 14 hours with strong projection the first 4 hours. When I woke up the next morning I still had about 2-4” of scent bubbling off my skin.

I blind bought a whole lot of this oil from him. I just had this intuition that it’s going to be phenomenal.
And, it turns out, I was not wrong. This, for sure is a beautiful oil.
Your thoughts just reinforce what I was thinking.

How does it compare to the 'best' claimed mysore sandalwood oils? Whether from Ensar, ASO, or others.

Comparing this to Santal Royale it wins on all fronts. It balances the wood with the cream really we but there’s also florals at play here. For the price it’s a no brainer but the smell is right on par with a lot of aged heartwood distillations. What’s striking to me is how smooth and rounded this oil is for being so young. It’s incredibly tenacious so performance wise it’s the strongest Mysore I have ever smelled.

Comparing price it smells like a $100/gram Mysore oil. Except here it costs $30/gram. So it falls into the category of not just smelling better but it’s also priced better than everything I’ve smelled in this space.

I haven’t smelled ASO’s Mysore oil but I’d imagine it fits into that same space.

Where can I find this?

Tripura Encens

Beautiful, good quality and balanced oil.
Opens up with honeyed florals with hints of fruits. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Amazing, vaporous terpene in the beginning.
Dries down beautifully into a resinous incense base.

I want to see him distill a Silani oil now. And a Borneo too.

this gota be the worst Oriscent oil i ever smelled, well but also i got a hate for cambodi oils since i feel they are so inferior compare to wood Lol.
Yeah I agree. I really didn't like it at first but it grew on me. Still not worth the price. Definitely one of the most disappointing oils I've had from Ensar. Still a pretty good cambodi oil if you set the price aside. I'm just now getting into wood at all and I've never smelled cambodi wood.
