@SophMarie @Ahmaoud

Wow, is this common in the US & Canada?…
In all my years of dealing with DHL from within Australia, I’ve never once had a single phone call or email, let alone a request for all that information. That sounds like an annoying ordeal just to get your package into the country!

@Olfactory Nomad - Hey mate have you had any issues with customs & DHL?….
Not as yet no but we don't want to jinx it. Did you get your Kangiiten order sorted?

I’m always very impressed with the service DHL provide. If given the choice, I’d rather pay more than use FedEx. Like you mentioned Ahmaoud, I’ve had a couple of issues with FedEx.
The Power Of Authority doesn’t appear to be a big deal, however all the information poor SophMarie is having to provide DHL is ridiculous!
Given the large volume of orders I received from DHL over the years, I’m surprised I’ve never had to provide any documentation. Fingers crossed I won’t have to.
Tbh, I suspect it's the U.S. government that wanted my S.S. number. There was a lot of dull detail about whether I was a business or private individual and proof was needed. Teone's location was just a silly oversight on DHL's part. Overall I like DHL quite a bit. I've only been dealing with them for a few months as I've gotten into overseas ouds and fragrances but they seem -- aside from this episode -- very efficient. One of their vans drove down the street today and the driver honked and waved at me 😁

the EU wants to get every penny it can from anything that comes into EU territory, similar to india. The US was really excellent until the last couple of years, where they are now starting to ask about small packages as well. over the last couples of years the US has started behaving like the EU.

Down under the main concern is not to have any insects, virus, live matter in the package, other than that they are still pretty good.

You're certainly right about those small packages. A friend in Sweden tried to send me a hard-to-find Areej le Dore via UPS last month. It was returned to him with a notice that there are new, tighter U.S. Customs rules. Another Swedish friend has since managed to send me three packages. Several of us have compared notes. We think national post is the best route for us amateurs to send our packages as they're too busy to inspect. The private services have the time to do it right.

Received cypress and egyptian neroli from The Essential Oil Company (the one in oregon, USA). Nice clean ambery cypress, and the neroli is smelling good - still can't believe what a good deal these oils were especially the Neroli. It is perhaps not the most delicious neroli in the world but is absolutely authentic and leaves a very fine appealing orange blossom scent on clothes and skin- quite beautiful actually.

I have some basic sandalwood oil coming from @An Najwa, and some nagarmotha and camphor. I appreciate him helping me with this - I was looking for a sandalwood oil for use in perfume making, one that was not vintage or artisanal but still authentic and of good quality. I am looking forward to checking this oil out!
Did this arrive? If so : how’s it? Can you describe it?

It is clean, smells as expected given the origin and recent distillation; has a few layers in the top notes: a bit of a nutty opening, some floral facets like muted lily, youthful (no accumulated acetic note or oxidized atlas cedar-like notes). Moderate body and woodiness, and the "overnight dry-down" was as expected and reasonably robust. Perfectly suited for my intended use which is attar making, but I would also wear this just for pleasure as well.

Have three grams of @Al-Hind Oud cultivated kinam/sandalwood on the way.
Simply put, this is a gem already and will only get better.❤️‍
I owe @Mr.P a thanks for this one. I'd misplaced my Bilquis but he kept mentioning how lovely his was so that prompted me to track mine down (in the guest room?). It is beautiful. Honestly, I think it gives Kyara to Byakudan a run for its money.

I accidentally bought four grams at first and @Al-Hind Oud asked if I really wanted that. I said, no, two please. I'm almost sorry now 😂
