I'm wearing Tarakan from @mesOUD today.

It's an 8 years aged wild wood oil, as mesOud states. This oil is interesting because it takes you on multiple beautiful transitions and different aspects of other oud oil scents!

Almost upon swiping it, Tarakan immediately starts with some Smokiness and a subtle note of earthiness.
This happens for a short time because the earthy note disappears (or take the backstage) and leaves place to a Smoky sweet/fruity note, like a Trat oil.
Then it gets spicy, a nice spicy side like a Thai oil, which lingers for a while before evolving into a green side (perhaps with an earthy undertone) almost like a Silani oil. At this stage, you are left in good company, and you sense the oil transition from the greenish aroma through to the late drydown, closing the journey with a light sweet and pleasant incense.

No off notes with this one, just smoothness from start to finish!

I gotta say, for the asking price, this is indeed a quality oil!
I was engaged in a beautiful journey! truly!

MashaAllah how a nice description is this,I appreciated your relationship with the scent, although you bought many scents, you spent 2 days on this scent. And discovered well
Hope you enjoy others too

I've been really enjoying Oud Lab's Papua 2003 the last few days. I think what really blows me away with this oil is how beautifully its two different faces come together. On the one hand, there is a very cool side: the billowing cloud of cool incense smoke, the grounding earthiness like cool clay or fresh soil with terracotta. And on the other hand, rich, warm sweetness of the resin and fruit. But these different temperatures come together and fuse, not taking turns one after another but both coming together in one balanced breath. This really is a truly stunning oil, one of the best I've ever smelled

I received Asiki Boven tonight from Rising Phoenix. I really like it so far; I've never smelled anything like it. The description on the website is better than I could do myself. It doesn't smell like rose, but the olfactory texture reminds me of ta'ifi rose, especially on the opening. It hits hard in the beginning, and to me it smelled best at about 45 minutes after swiping. I'll have to spend more time with it before having a final opinion, as I feel like there is more to discover that eludes me now.

The Oud Lab - Hutan Hijau.
A personal favourite, one of the few Oud oils I will wear to work (usually Rose oil or Attars).
Off the top a blast of mouthwatering terpenes, greenery, apple, vaporous Sinensis tones. Floral & earthy in the mid notes, becoming darker earthy & mossy, more resinous & fruity in the base.
A classic high grade wild Malaccensis dry down. Viscous oil, lasts extremely well on skin & fabric.

One of the greatest Malaysian oils ever, big praise but justified in imo.

I just put on a swipe of the kinamic Hindi sample sent to me by AlHind.

I enjoyed this oil from the beginning it is quite gentle and generally smells appealing. It has notes in common with one of my favorite oils from back in the day when I was getting things from Singapore vendors. It was sold as old Hindi oil, but it smelled more like sinensis (I had no idea what it was at the time). Malek Al ceeni smelled like a more concentrated and luxurious sister of that old oil. Not comparing quality, just saying the same category of scent.

Well, the second time I wore this one I put on a big swipe and first thing that comes to mind is that old Indian oil. this is the third oil that I have experienced in that category, keeping in mind that I have missed out on the majority of the recent Artisanal distillations.

It’s always interesting to discover these connections and it is amazing how long scent memory lasts

Malay Hirta from brother Mohamed @AlHindOud
I remembre the first time I wore this one, I sent him a message saying that this scent is smacking me left and right, up and down! In a good way! 😅
I'm wearing it today and it's still a bright and blissful scent!
All packed in this one but not particular to one aspect. You get some of the spiciness, some of the fruitiness and it's all resting on a beautiful green background!
Brother Mohamed does know how make them well!

Maroke SQ - Ensar Oud - love this one, goes really well with rose too. I'd bathe in it if I could.

2022 Melawi - Risingphoenixperfume - This one is nice. Apparently from West Kalimantan on Borneo according to google maps. Smells like it's from Kelantan to me. I got this one as a free sample and it's not on the Etsy store. I have never heard of Melawi before, so I decided to try guessing where it was from based on the smell. My guess was malaysia because it reminded me of some ouds I've smelled from Kelantan. When I looked it up I thought I was right until I realized that Kelantan and Kalimantan are different places.
