I was curious how much a decent swipe uses up since I seem to put hardly any dent in my samples. This is 0.1ml and I've worn it a few times. See - this was a good amount to swipe on both my hands for a nice oily sheen, and yet the usage amount seems miniscule
I tell myself to not be so conservative with oud but it's hard to use up!
On the other hand I see my bottles' (with applicators) level go down...pretty sure I'm losing loads to evaporation. Doesn't seem to be an issue for samples of v-vials....
Oils can just be weird like that. The bottle/vial can be visually deceptive, and different oils are just different. Some thinner oils sort of spread out on your skin easier so it feels like you're wearing more. With thin oils, the applicator will also not pick up as much as it would with a thick oil, and if the scent is strong then it will be satisfying enough to feel like a proper swipe.
If there is significant evaporation then it seems to show up more as the oil getting thicker than a change in level, but it might depend on the oil. I have had some v-vials from RPP that thickened up pretty quickly into a near paste, and some other v-vials that have held up well, at least with the particular oils I had in them. The vial in those pictures give the oil very little surface area, and the vials are slim enough that very little air will make its way into the vial every time you open it.
