Bentong Royale by AA
I'm in love with this oil. it has a semi earthy green opening, not in your face opening, then a very flowery heart and a sweety candy like drydown. this one fits my taste perfectly. no woody note that I can detect, and no regular purple malaysian profile either. if I'd describe it in color, it's green honey. it is the kind of oud oils that is like a perfume.

AA Hindustan No. 1
EO Chugoku Naya

Similar vibe for me. The EO has more of a Chinese quality being a border oil but overall they walk a similar vein. Clean Hindi profile, honey, baklavas, cinnamon, creamy florals. Another oil that could fit right between these in terms of its profile is the Emperor of Meghalaya from Joinkoh Store. The AA feels very airy, and light in presence but is a deep and robust oil. The EO goes into more of a dusty leather direction and lacks that "ozonic" quality the Hindustan has.

Agar Aura - Myitkyina 4K

My humble amateur thoughts after trying M4K a couple of times here now.

Cold, steel-like blue and purple florals spearhead the oil. They feel metallic and not very comforting when smelling, more piercingly sharp, commanding your attention. The saving grace for your poor nose is the golden honey and creamy cola like sweetness that is ladled onto the field of unsettling florals. An intoxicating mix, as described perfectly by many others as “narcotic”.

This oil albeit being quite thick, dried down quite fast on skin. The addicting top notes fluttering away too fast, always trying to get one last good sniff of it before it transitions. It moves to a scent territory that I’m not too familiar with, but I think of it is purple manouka honey. Sweet and heady, like honey that is laced with massive amount of opium. More creaminess, cola like syrup and bitter metallic florals. It’s still quite fizzy and sparkly here too, even with all the deeply thick creamy notes coming out here, although not as diffusive as when first applying.

From the jump there’s a faint smoke note that’s whisps in the background of the initial blast of smells. It’s present but reveals itself much more as the oil sits. A clove or maybe even cinnamon-like spicy pepper smell that is similar to the smell of wood shaving gently heated. Pleasantly mixing with that golden creamy custard sweetness similar to the other Burmese oils I have.

This is the V1 version of the oil, which I believe from reading online is supposed to be more top note heavy, and less “chewy” than the V2. Less rounded and more in your face punchy to start. Having never tried the second I wouldn’t be able to tell for sure, but the beauty in this oil that sets it apart from others for me is that first symphony of notes you’re presented. An almost perfect oil, just wish it lasted forever.

Broadlink? Maybe need to take a look at that business name too haha am I getting oud or cable internet service?

Rocking this honey-dew and tart apricot Hainan "Flair 08" from Broadlink. I have to say this is a particularly pleasant oil from 2021 of 12 year aged cultivated oud. More complex than the average cultivated oil. They really need to work on their oil names 😀

12 years is pretty less for a tree to produce quality resin. I guess that’s a common practice in China now a days, harvest young tress due to market demand.

@mesOUD - Puruk Cahu
@mesOUD - Burmese

Went with a double combo of mesOUD oils for the night. Made some beautifully woody puer to go along with Puruk Cahu, but decided it was a little too clean for how dank my tea was today.

Puruk Cahu says it’s an A. Malaccensis oil on my sample vial, but smells much more closely to a gyrinops oil to my amateur nose. A very very brief sour type opening that’s followed by that familiar clean polished leather scent. More familiar of a sports car interior than too much shoe polish. A lightly creamy woods and kind of acrid dry pepper note reveling themselves as it dries down. Clean oil, resembles Sumbawa Black and Seufi a lot, but from all of them I think I prefer Sumbawa Seufi the most.

Burmese is a classic soaked Oudy crassna from Myanmar. Sweet dried apricots and raisins marinated with syrupy sweet honey. There’s this golden Burmese dried fruit and custard tone that makes this stand out to me from the other classic crassnas in my collection. Like taking some of the clean Burmese oils I’ve worn recently, and giving them that classic soaking treatment. Super thick oil, not quite like Cambodi Qadeem, but has a nice viscosity to it. A classic profile at a very affordable price.

Great write up and your top note description fits with my experience, albeit, described so much better than I would have lol. This one is one of my favorites from Agar Aura. A powerhouse on my skin.

Scent of the day for me:
Royal Myanma from A.A. My sample has lost some of that top vaporous quality but is still quite nice. Sweet, vanilla berries and rather fleeting.

EO Oud Isa

Need to do some gardening today and for whatever reason Isa reminds me of a sunny day in the countryside. The weird thing for me is that I am rediscovering Oud Isa now after I just unopened a sealed 3-gram bottle. I had a generous sample that lasted me a good while from a brother in the community but I now realize that one oxidized and much of the top notes went missing. It had also this sourness up the top that was unpleasant. This one from the unused bottle is more berry-loaded and not as "Mediterranean" in feel. It also felt to me previously there was some mild barn to this oil. There is none. Zero. Also less zesty in the opening. Now it strikes me like a love child of Oud Nuh and Assam 3000. For fk's sake now I need to update my original review on this oil. More nutty and berry forward with that clay-like accord. I love this one WAAYYY better. Store your oils right my friends. It's a shame letting these oils fade away due to improper storage. I want my oils to last me till 80 or so, granted I make it that long. So I need to make sure they are still good for another 50 years lol.

I looked at their website. I wonder, how can they charge so little for oils?
