myoudshop - Pahang

A. Hirta from the Pahang region in Malaysia.

It opens with that deep ancient barrel aged purple/red liquor scent, a little musky tang, and smoky. Quickly the cool earthy bitter clay comes out, with a blue oceanic fresh air note. A zesty and airy purple floral note is carried along in this breeze. Combining with this is a tropical fruit smell, reminiscent most to me of maybe guavas.

As it dries a bit theres a green jungly feel to the clay and earthiness, combining with the smoke to give off an incense scent. The most remarkable thing about this oil is how diffusive and airy it feels, like breathing in fresh spring air with every inhale. Probably the lightest wearing of all the oils I’ve tried.

It transitions rapidly and constantly from those slightly peppery purple florals, acquatic blue and earthy clay coolness, sweet tropical guava nectar, and smoky incense. Once it’s been on skin for 4+ hours it develops a Berry red woody aroma. Similar to some Crassnas I’ve tried. A multi-colored experience and one that is effervescent and light as a feather at times. Malaysian oils are truly a treat to have!

Lovely oud to wear on occasion, as its not too complex and is an easy wear, and if you wear it too often it can become quite sickening, and I definitely dont want that for an oil that I really enjoy, I usually cycle oils anyway... sometimes I am never in the mood for any oil at all and just use woods, or vice versa.

Anyway, notes start with a lovely highly rich an very resinous agarwood notes with, highly green, herbaceous, jungle notes... it is quite bitter with a semi sweet note to it, after using crassna oils quite a lot recently, I noticed some sour red fruits like cherries, and berries, the more it develops on skin you get a strong, medicinal-like, menthol/mint note, as it develops after 15mins into the heart notes you get hit with a few peculiar notes that are quite mood lifting, personally I got some top quality agarwood notes with high resin content, eventually turning out to be a really nice agarwood heating at medium temps on a heater, these notes come and go quite a lot during the first hour and a half, sometimes the incense note smells more like its being heating at higher temps, notes of juicy, sweet, sour and biter oranges, with an orange juice note that is quite refreshing with the (now somewhat) subdued mintiness undertone, some hints of treated, nicely done leather notes with the agarwood combined and a sour lemon creamy cake, like note with the woodiness in the back drop, all this is one hour in. After 1.5 hours in you go back to the greenery quite heavily but now it isnt as bitter, and is more incense-y, sweet, sour and fruity, with the mint making a comeback.. so far I am 2 hours in and it has some oceanic notes too, with some strong agarwood notes with some resin, and strong undertones of nice, treated leather like a new luxury leather car.

EDIT: It also reminds me of a Maroke oil or a Gryinops type oil too, with the dark earthiness, dirty oceanic notes that are strangely beautiful, things that remind me of a GOOD Maroke oil are somewhat present here.

EDIT 2: Oil is at the end of the heart notes and slowly transitioning into the base with a nice, gentle green, woody note and nice fresh floral tones to it.

Lovely oil, and amazing for being a cultivated plantation oil.

Good stuff.

Harimau Malay Tigerwood from Yusa today. This is a wild oil - haven't smelled another quite like it, though it includes notes that I have smelled here and there in good oils over the years. On the dipstick it resembles a "dark Malaysian" that I have been aging for 20 years, but on the skin it's an entirely more engaging complex and beautiful multilayered experience.

There is a unique sweetness in the opening that I haven't encountered in an oud oil before, which is very familiar however. at the moment my brain is struggling to pin down the association. there are also some unique deep resonant sweetnesses in the oil that are very quintessentially oudy but I have not been lucky enough to smell in an oil before.

The smell is dark woody-enticingly metallic-tangy-sweet-thick-syrupy, with robust roasted aspect and a little bitter-phenolic. At the moment it is giving a wave of oily cola like notes.

This one's truly a shocker in terms of the variety and interplay of beautiful oud facets it presents.

I'm going to stop here and get to know it better.

Clearly I still have a lot to learn, if there are variations on oils like this floating around out there.

is quite a journey. So much going on. Briefly, there are 3 main players. The Oriscent aesthetic (emphasis on the wood not so much on the resin) with its ornate medicinal quality, the Almahera Red Resin profile, and the Seram profile (orris butter flavor). This oil hints at purple but in reality, it is red, blue, and dark. The way these colors interplay, might be perceived as a purple-hued scent profile. Typical Oriscent opening with emphasis on the medicinal facets, not vaporous, nor piercing. The first part of the oil is red and dominated by the Almahera spicy-red profile that overtakes the Seram-Orris facets. As it progresses the balance tips toward that creamy, almost juicy, slightly powdery Orris-loaded Seram DNA that feels blue to me, more so than purple. An amazing oil that is true to its origin. Complex, profound, unique profile. The Oriscent DNA is evident throughout.

KK4K had to transfer it so I cleaned the leftovers on my skin. Sweet, sugary, strawberries, milk, honey, and a green bitterness to prevent it from going overly savory. Always easy to enjoy this one.

M4K V I all the recent mentions of it made me crave it. Checked my little 0.25 vial today and I noticed it was down to the last 0.02 gr so I replenished it and applied some. This is one of my favorites AA still and I don't think it'll ever change. The reason I love this oil so much is because it is a purple-hued oil, my favorite DNA. Powdery violets, grape juice, creamy berries, steely blue and green touches, and lots of oleoresin goodness. It has that nice vaporous bite at the top, the clear heart notes, and that deep, honeyed base. I wish Taha would juice out more oils like this and steer away from the more top-note-heavy ones. For my taste, M4K is the perfect oil for Taha's aesthetics.

His oils are pristine in terms of quality and I echo the same sentiment as you. I wish I could smell more of the base note/resinous aroma in his oils. I wonder if it's because he stops the distillation short or his woods are more rich in the volatile oils and not so much in resin. Whatever the case, I absolutely adore the resinous aroma.

Feel Oud - Pa Papua
I had to dig up this treasure of an oil.
Starts with super smooth green fizzy wafts, slightly nose tingling. It screams green but it is somehow so appealing and delicious. No bitterness or vegetal aroma. More of a light sweet fizzy citrus scent like a fresh cut lemon deep in the green vivid jungle. You finish up the lemon and slowly get the smell of the lemon peel thats left and this slight bitterness is just lost in the earthiness in the base of the oil.
This could be a citrussy earthy patchouli perfume and I wouldnt notice any difference 😂

I might give this one a try today as well as I also have a sample and have not tried it on my skin just yet. Out of the bottle it's absolutely fullon!

That's great! look forward to your impressions.

Imperial Oud - Super Hoi An

One of the most beautiful Vietnamese oud I've tried. The complexity, transitions, and addictive factors of this oud is beyond amazing. I think this was offered for around $250? Greatest bang-for-buck Vietnamese oud. Definitely feels like an oud belonging to the $1k+ category.

Bitter-sweet Vietnamese resinous oomph, it's so dense and addictive. There are definitely facets in this that remind you of those old red Cambodi ouds from the past.

Did you try Royal viet? Does it go in that direction?
I read everywhere that super hoi an has a musky touch /Royal viet doesnt but it is also a traditional yet "clean" viet distillation

You can say that Super Hoi An shares similarities to Kinam Rouge, Grand Emperor of Hue, Royal Viet, Khmer Xtreme, Grand Emperor of Pursat, and also Grand Emperor NHA Trang, etc.

I know that's probably a long list of Oud oils it shares similarities with. 😅 But that's how complex it is. It reminded me of those following ouds I've tried before. I would also say that, yes, it does have some musky touch to it.

@Habz786 - Raja Hijau
@mesOUD - Dehnal Oud Hindi Amjad

Raja Hijau
for the morning swipe. Some gasoline in the opening mixed with a fizzy green sprite like cola. Tropical fruits pop in and out, mostly guava for me. Waxy-like florals and a jungly, earthy, green incense spicy smoke. Beautiful woody drydown. A complex oil that I can’t get enough of. I believe this is also a Pahang region Malaysian oil, so I would like to compare this to the Pahang A. Hirta oil I have from myoudshop next and see how they differ.

Swiped Dehnal Oud Hindi Amjad about 30 minutes ago to end the night. A classic barnyard Hindi oud, focused heavily on the civet note. So much so that it reminded me a lot of the Vietnam Classic + Civet paste maceration from Mehmet. Animalic, skanky, dirty, no holds barred type of oil. Not for the faint of heart and not for wearing to work. Stinky musky civet, raw hide leather, goat hair, metallic bitterness. You may get notes of molten chocolate, dried overripe fruits, and some sweetness here and there, but it’s no saving grace from the rest of the stink. It smells like a good chunk of civet was dolloped in the oud, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

AA - Myitkyina 4K

I've wore this a few times already but this is hands down the best experience I've had thus far ! It's like I went from smelling it in 1080p to 4K...no pun intended. Such a beautiful , complex oil with a lil bit of everything I crave in my ouds. I need to hunt down some more Burmese new gens , they seem just as rare as Filis. Anyway let me enjoy the rest of this wear while it's still hittin !
