The nineregions hainan oils arrived. Mediocre of course, especially the lower grade oil - very little aroma, maybe useful as a fixative but who knows. The higher grade oil is better, would be useful for blending - resembles some industrial "ck oils" i have sampled somewhat closer to the oil I am trying to replace from Wardlab. Nothing to be excited about but cheap enough to be possible to consider in formulating perfume that is not $200+ per bottle, but still has a quality oud presence.

They are good for fumigating space. Try it.

Will give it a try. I am getting some nice interactions with patchouli with the pricier oil - don't regret buying it, which seems like damned good luck for my first semi-random aliexpress order.

Raja Hi Jau- Habzoud Wow!!! This is what I love about this stuff. Almost everytime I try a new purchase, I'm left contemplating and thinking about what's going on. Very little else does this for me. Wearing oud is not just for pleasure but also for knowledge. Completely new scent profiles in this oil. I "get" the "oceanic" note now because that's absolutely in there. I feel like I can smell marzipan also? That's pretty much all I can say. Incredible. I will add that I gave this to my partner to have a sniff which I do with most of what I have and she replied that she actually likes this one and she would wear it herself. High praise!

Another dab of Habzoud Gaharu Uno (hirta). The opening to this is really a treat for me - has a beautifully balanced aquatic / poplar woods / forest air opening that is especially beautiful in this oil. Transitions to a nice rich resinous sweet incense aroma - an intensely pleasant oil, complex and saturated.

Edit: I just went and reviewed the backstory for the oil to see how old it was because it is pretty danged dignified - it never crossed my mind that it was recently distilled. that's just nuts
Just had another swipe of this and it's just made my mind up that I need a bigger bottle. Bloody hell these samples keep my wallet empty! Lol.

This so beautiful and unique isn't it. 😀
I also think Gaharu Uno is another gem of an oil and have been thoroughly enjoying it's profile.

One tiny swipe of Vietnam Classic + Civet Paste from @mesOUD this morning. Didn’t want to blow the nose up too heavy as there should be a special oil coming later today, and I want my nose fresh.
I'm yet to try this one. I have some but it's very thick in the bottle and won't move whatsoever. It's a bit cool here right now so I'm going to wait until it warms up a bit for this beauty.

Bentong Royale by AA
a fuzzy green opening with an earthy undertone to it, a brown sugar and some vanilla heart and a gorgeous deep resinous woody drydown.
for me the best part of this oil is the drydown, its style reminds me of old malaysian oud distillations, but without any off putting notes. I'm getting some cola vibes, some sweetness and spices in a balanced way.
this is a very beautiful oil indeed.

I would not wait so long to try this one if you can. Maybe warming it up between your hands for a second to get it to move a bit better. Anything so you can put your nose on it earlier. It’s addicting as all hell

Cambodi Smoke - Habzoud, I really had no idea just what this was going to smell like but as far as scent profiles are concerned this seems to be the direction I'm heading in. I don't know "how" they get this charred wood smoke scent in there but it's definitely there. Girlfriend absolutely does not like this one lol. Cold ash from a hard wood firepit is what I'm smelling here in the opening notes with a slight menthol just sneaking in, little bit medicinal. I'm unsure if these notes fit into the bitter or sour category? Dry down after an hour it sweetens up a bit but seems to have lost it's projection. Makes me feel like you need a healthy swipe to get that longevity but it could be a little much initially and knock you on your ass. More on this later.

@mesOUD x @YusaAromatics - Levent

First impressions can be interesting with a young oil. Getting lots of sulfuric gasoline like notes that remind me of Oud Qaysar. I’m guessing this is simply due to age. There’s a strong bitter backbone, a sweet vanilla/chocolate. A minty blast of freshness that could be interpreted as slightly wet. There’s a touch of floral sweetness. The gasoline has taken an acrid pepper-like tone to it now an hour or so in. Creamy vanillic sweetness now underlying the spice. An aquatic tinge akin to the silani or Raja Hijau here too. These guys really got something special here.

Each species reacts differently to aging, some species may complete the maturation process much earlier than others, and some species may react differently to aging than others.
I observed huge differences between the first time I tried this oil and after 2 days of curing. Levent is an oil that will react very positively to the aging process.
Also i think LEVENT is the last fresh oil i am offering.
The thing i was offering is a total journey,to see how an oil changes in time, how new notes develop etc, also someone appreciate this and enjoy, but as you mentioned i try to do my best, from wood choice, wood grade, distillation process etc, distilling the woods which, folks hesitate to burn. so i know what i am doing, but after that much effort,Even people appreciate oils when they are fresh,But i want to offer them when they are in their real potential, bcz an oil directly coming from pot is may be about 30% of its real potential,And i really dont want that much effort will be judged within 30% potential. So,probably will age my distillations some then will release
